Weakness:

Everything about the tire, Its the worst tire I've ever bought.

This is the worst tire I have ever owned. It was horible in snow and rain, as they wore down it felt as though regular roads were covered in ice, the traction was so bad. When forced to drive in the snow i feared for my life. I'm never buying Firestone again and it has nothing to do with the recall they just suck.

I wouldn't say price. I only got them because they came with my car's package. I will say they looked nicer than what they regurlarly came with

Weakness:

Weak tires. Used for 6 months on my sentra before one totally Messed(edited) up. Bad in rain and can't handle in snow.

I would not recommend this product to anyone but my enemy

Strength:

Tread has remained attached to tire casing so far. Cheapest tire available in this size (195/55HR-16). Helped Nissan maintain a low MSRP for the Sentra SE.

Weakness:

Performance qualities are less than those of a standard grand touring tires. Very mushy feel when cornering. Tires are clearly not up to the otherwise compatent Performance Package suspension. Drive vigoriously on them at your own peril.

This is the first, and hopefully only time, that I have ditched the OE tires on a new car with only 2000 miles on them. I switched to 205/50ZR-16 Bridgestone Potenza RE 730's. My little Sentra SE has now given new life to the concept of agile. My plunking $500.00 down for a good set of tires to replace the new car OE tires is putting money where my mouth is. It speaks volumes about just how cheap Firestone can make an inexpensive tire.

Model Reviewed: 2000 Sentra SE

Strength:

They lasted the 9,700 mile I put on them ( bairly ), which was enough time to save up money to replace them with some BFG's.

Weakness:

Tread life, traction wet/dry roads, steering response, quality of material.
Saftey ( these things were dangerous, hit a bump and they tear )

The firehawk GTA's should be recalled. I was making a slow 3-4 MPH 3 point turn and I hit a curb, the side wall split open and the radial tread was showing. I took it to the Firestone dealer and they said since the tire was original equipment on the car I didn't have any warranty so I would have to purchase a new tire. I said to them I hope you guys go out of business. I went to a local tire shop and replaced the GTA's with BFG VR4's. I have since made the same steering error and hit a curb with the BFG's at the same speed ( 3-5 mph ) and only a white chalky smear, which I just dusted off and tire was shinny and new again.

noticed wonderful steering response and grip around corners. Also straight line performance is right on.

Strength:

Cheap, fairly quiet and decent dry performance

Weakness:

Poor in wet conditions and horrendous on snow/ice, poor tread life, lackluster response and turn-in

Most Contour owners hate the GTAs that come stock. While they offer a decent ride without much noise and do offer a reasonable amount of dry performance, the Firehawks disappoint in increment weather. I don't know how they can call these snow tires...I fishtailed all over the place last winter. I am scared to drive in snow with these Firehawks and I find this unexcusable for a A/S tire. Wet performance is also frustrating. They do not offer any confidence when the roads aren't dry.

On dry roads, you can push the GTAs fairly hard and they'll squeal and slide a little on hard cornering, but are generally predictable. But they don't have the sharp crispness of real performance tires and the GTAs share the poor treadlife of stickier tires without the stickiness.

I am replacing the Firehawk GTAs with Dunlop SP Sport 5000s this week.

Model Reviewed: Firestone Firehawk GTA

Strength:

Price is the Firehawk GTA's biggest strength. They look sharp on a lower priced range sporty car, such as the Chevy Beretta GT/GTU class.

Weakness:

Use CAUTION on snow and ice. First observations, you would'nt think these tires would be as "slippery" as they are (the tires are attached to a FWD Chevy Beretta GT).

These tires are economically priced, sharp looking (P205/60R/15). The wear is okay. It is only rated for 40K and I expect to get full wear if I maintain them properly. In the price range I was looking at, the Firehawk GTA was a good choice. I expect to get my moneys worth. Tight cornering capability was good. Very good grip on dry pavement. I would not choose the GTA if I were REAL serious about choosing a high-performance tire. The GTA's are only rated for 90 MPH. I would look at spending a few bucks more and I would buy the Goodyear Eagle GT's.

if your over 80 yrs old and drive 25 mph in 65 during the rain they have no problem

Weakness:

after 1 mo i noticed a bubble starting to form on my tire i sqweak my tires taking a turn at less then 5 mph and i havent yet tried to ask my dealership to replace the bubble but i supposedly have a 3 yr warrenty on them i dont know if its voided for reasons like using your brakes, taking turns, or stopping for red lights so i might get screwed.

If I die I will definatly be upset with Firestone for not having the decency of taking these P.O.S's off the market. I think if you have a deathwish or are one of those annoying people who insist on goin 25 miles under the speedl;imit this is the tire for you... if you are sane then i suggest getting them off of your car a.s.a.p

Strength:

Wide profile, good looking tire. Long wearing.

Very noisy tires. Worst winter tire I've ever driven on. Only half worn and I've replaced them.

Cheap. Would only recommend if price is important to you and you live outside the snow belt.
