Cars are filthy. my last had dog hair and kibble eveywhere. Extended my rental- was quoted a price on the phone from the agent. To my surprise $110 was added. At the office, when I questioned this, the agent just said " It's in your contract." When I questioned why the woman on the phone didn't mention this, he just said "It's in your contract." When I told him they'd just lost a monthly customer, he said " That's too bad." I got a survey follow up. Don't bother wasting your time to fill it out. A person called once and left a #. After 3 return calls to her, I gave up. Shame on you if you give them your business. |

2 cars broke in 4 days The car broke twice during a four-day rental which was supposed to be a beach vacation. One morning I woke up to find the car wouldn't start. I waited half an hour for road service, and the mechanic who jumped the car to start it and examined the battery said he thought the battery probably had problems. Payless gave me a choice: I could wait three hours for them to send a new car or drive the old one back to the airport to swap it, which I did. Then, a day later, a light went on that showed a problem with a tire. Road service told me I should go to a gas station to inflate the tires to see if that would solve the problem. When I mentioned the absence of a tire gauge, the service personnel told me I would have to guess.

I did speak to corporate office who responded fairly quickly by return phone call several days later that I did not pay cash.
Weakness:
Someone at SLC office is $154 richer. Discount car companies are not discount. Save your money and rent one at the airport. Got a nice, clean rental car with low miles however they refused to take a check card so I had to put up my credit card to hold the car until returned. I paid cash to a man named Idie on return. (Couldn't help but remember that name)When I got my credit card bill, the card was billed for the rental so I paid twice for the rental. |

Shuttle driver was extremely nice from the airport and to the airport was super accommodating - helping with luggage and waited the extra minute or two for us to check in the car.
Weakness:
Shuttle from the airport was 5 minutes late. FIVE minutes! I called the Seattle HQ after waiting the "15 minutes" and was told a shuttle would be there soon. "Sure" I thought. Sure enough, it rounded the corner. Heading to the car lot took about 10 minutes and the wait line was about 5 minutes. These are hardly weaknesses. I guess the building doesn't look great and the staff weren't wearing matching outfits and I did notice some tatoos and piercings but hey, I saved $400+. Serious weakness: the car WAS rather dirty. Head grease stains were all over the rear seat backs but this couldn't be seen until the convertible top was down. Car smelled okay, just gross grease head stains. Bird pooh was on the car too, but that's called Seagull crap! What would you expect near the water ... oh, the horn stuck, but you'd never know that unless you tooted! I searched the internet for deals and found FOX. Read the reviews and the company seemed horrible but I thought I'd give them a try. Overall they were very good and well worth the small problems that were encountered. We saved over 50% over the BIG companies for our 8-day rental and I figured if I could save $400+ I can use the savings and wash the car; or whatever! Stay away. We didn't get the car we ordered. Were given a filthy van for which we had to wait almost an hour. The kid at the counter told us it would be 20 minutes for the van to be ready, then walked away without telling anyone that we were waiting for it. Finally we asked what was taking so long and the kid's replacement at the counter didn't know anything about it. As for driving the van, it kept pulling to the left. For the money, go to another more reputable rental car place. (We used Fox at the Oakland Intl Airport) |

Once I called there customer service she confirmed that was the policy would be willing to wave it.
Weakness:
I attempted numerous time to contact there corporate offices regarding the policy and could never get a person on the phone. Be very careful with this company! I rented a car from them as they were the only company with cars in SLC. I placed my reservation online. I only need to rent the car for a few hours but knew I would have to pay for a full day. Well I get to the counter and I am notified that if I turn the car in early (prior) to 24 hours there will be a early return fee of $10. I get online and sure enough it is a policy in the rental agreement. I can't not believe it:

I had reserved the car at the vegas airport starting Friday night 10.00 pm. My flight got delayed by 3 hrs and reached at 1.00 am sat. There rental office was closed by then. (Offices of all the other rental companies were open 24 hrs). I was left with no car in the middle of the night. I rented a car from budget for a day at twice more rate (since I was a walk in customer) so that I can still pick my reserved car from FOX the next day. Next day I called FOX just to know that my reservation was cancelled since its been more than 12 hrs and I have to reserve it again and the rate is now double. Since I had given my flight details while reserving, it was their responsibility to make sure that they make the car available even after their office timings. Atleast they should have made the same reservation available the next day. I ended up renting from Hertz the next day paying $100 more than the original deal. I had to pay higher rate and go through all the hassles for FOX's stupid policies. I am not renting a car from FOX again
