Hi, I was just in an accident with an USAA client (his fault, he turned in front of me) just about a week ago on a Thursday. I called and called and finally got a call back on Monday afternoon. The person I spoke with asked if she could ask me a few questions about the accident. She went for my throat and started grilling me about weather or not I had been drinking, why I couldn't stop because she couldn't understand why I couldn't stop, she tried to trap me into saying something that she could use agenst me, etc. She said I could either take 60% now or wait 3 weeks for them to do a full investigation. I went to the police and got a copy of the accident report which states clearly that it was the other guys fault. I faxed it to her today so I'll see.

Great company. I never have to wait on hold when I call and the service reps are ALWAYS friendly. No other insurance company has been able to touch the rate I pay at USAA.

I just wanted to add to the statment that USAA changes their rates without notice. My father-in-law has had USAA for over 20 years and never had problem until recently. From what I know the company has changed a lot over the last couple of years. I've been with the company for over 2 years and I was very dissipointed when it came to buying auto insurance. I did not like the service and for a company that has everything on you on file, it takes a very long time to answer all the questions and on the end he tells you that he need to pull your credit. I was very very dissipointed with that. I wish it was easier and the company would communicate better with all the departments.

i am not a memeber of USAA insurance, but in a previous accident, the person that hit us from behind, is a member, she even admitted fault, it was obvious that she was at fault and the police report stated it also, but when me and my father tried to get information and try settle a claim, they never like to return your phone calls, my father got the run around so much, i just got fed up..so i called and i hate to talk crazy to people but that was the only way that we finally got a respose back and i had to leave that message on the answering service... this company only tells you what they want to tell you, and that's what they tried to do until my dad talked to a lwayer and found other options of getting a fair settlement, our car was still drivable but they estimated as totaled, so the paid the car off and cut us an $800 check, and in my opinion we should have gotten more, but i had to go to the hospital so i filed a medical claim and as of this date i'm still waiting on that, but if the situation was the other way around and we were at fault, i bet i we would've been getting phone calls all day long from USAA, but when they have to pay they procrastinate.

I am in the process of changing my insurance company.I have multiple policies with ALLSTATE.I heard USAA was a real good company with low rates. My experience with the costumer service was excellent. I gave my first payment over the phone.I thought I would change my home owners policy over also, so I called the home owners policy department. I gave all my information no problem, A few days later I received a phone call stating that USAA could not insure my home because, I lived in Newport county. I live no where near water. I am in the country. I can't understand the logic here. Why close buisness to the state of RI? I read some reviews and do not have a good feeling about USAA anymore. I personally like to have all my accounts together. So I believe I will stay with AllSTATE. Now hopefully I can get my money back!!!

Best insurance ever. I’ve used them for years. My brother too, his car was broken into, stereo stolen, windows smashed. No wait time on phone (I've NEVER been on hold with them). Within 1hr he had authorization for a new window; they even sent their own guy out. It was installed within 3hrs of the initial call with a very small deductible. New (BETTER!!!) stereo was mailed out within 1 week. If you're not high-risk or at fault, they're great! And I can’t believe those who were in accidents with USAA members and the rate them down for following through. Many insurance companies settle with USAA right when they know they’re who’s on the other end. If I was with someone else and hit someone with USAA I’d hate them too!

Used to be cheap and fairly reliable.

Premiums are no longer a good deal. Way over priced as compared to the competition.

I have been with USAA since 1969 and always considered them excellent and low priced. Recently, they have raised my homeowners rate by over 80% without even telling me. All explanations were unacceptable. I have had only 2 claims in the previous 34 years.

Excellent customer service, great prices, friendly customer service representatives.

I am shocked at the negative reviews of USAA. We have been so happy with the excellent service we have received. We have not only our cars insured with USAA, but also our home. We are paying more than $1,000.00 less per year on our homeowner's insurance and several hundred less for auto insurance. We have excellent coverage at an excellent price. I have my insurance license and know the going rates for insurance in Florida and USAA is by far the most economical and gives better coverage.

There is always a long wait to talk to representatives. Representative are unfriendly and negative. They never follow up on statements they make.

I have had USAA insurance for 20 years. This is good insurance if you just send them money and never need any service of any kind. My son recently deployed to Kuwait with the 101st Airborne and left his car with me to store. After waiting 30 minutes to talk to someone, I was told I couldn't insure his auto because I didn't own it. My wife called her insurance company and took care of this matter within minutes with a friendly representative. The price was right so I insured all my autos with this company. It took another 20 minutes just to cancel the USAA policy. I wish I had cancelled this awful insurance years ago!

Strengths - Low prices for complete coverage and handles the claims quickly (from my perspective) and with follow-up surveys on their service. Provides customer rebates on low accident frequency years. Yea! Give me some money back.

Weaknesses - Sometimes their is an abundance of initial paperwork, but others have this as well.

I have had USAA for insurance (auto and property), banking, investments, etc. for 20+ years and never had a problem with claims or service. Our family of 8 has experienced the same level of service. Claims are handled quickly and prices are great. When I discuss with other insurance carriers, and friends in the insurance business, about USAA they always advise me to stay with USAA. They also mention that they can not compete with USAA's prices. I guess that is what makes them one of the Top 5 insurance companies. Way to go USAA. You have serviced my parents, brothers and sisters very well over the years.
