Strength:

Willingness to cover good drivers.

Weakness:

None.

Excellent service, especially when switching states. Took us when none of the other insurers (AllState, GEICO, Prudential, etc) would not or only at ridiculous rates. When we moved from NY to PA, GEICO tried to raise our rates by $3000!!! When we moved to NJ, AllState and Prudential didn''t want our business, because our driving records were too clean. Seems they can charge a higher premium for the drivers with bad records! State Farm didn''t mind getting less money from us.

GEICO. Tried to get AllState and Prudential, but they don''t want good drivers.

Strength:

They act really friendly, but they are just out for your money.

Weakness:

They are totally dishonest.

State Farm is a dishonest company. Their waited until I relocated, when he wouldn''t be able to get any more money from me, then added insurance coverage and billed me for it just before the expiration of the policy. When I refused to pay for the additional insurance they cancelled the policy even though I had already paid for it. Appeals to their management were fruitless. They are all deceitful crooks.

Strength:

Somewhat friendly staff...except when you need to make a claim.

Weakness:

Will do EVERYTHING they can NOT to pay your claim, and if they do, your rates will skyrocket from their already inflated prices

I have been with State Farm for many years and put up with their higher than average rates because I am a friend of a State Farm agent. But recently, a minor accident occurred in which both parties were under State Farm Insurance. State Farm has been impossible to deal with (for both of us), continuing to stall claim payments, and doing everything in their power to get out of paying. There were even some of their sleazy lawyers trying to have us sign papers that would reduce the amount of our claim and trying to get us to use substandard parts. They are probably paying these ambulance chasers more than our claim would have been. AVOID STATE FARM AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Strength:

Prices are fair. You can deal by phone, mail or in person.

Weakness:

Raise your rates after one claim.Lousy body work.

Had them for years in California.Move to Washington and the rates are not any cheaper than Cali.
My wife is backing out of the garage with the drivers door open(don't ask) and you guessed it.Wammo.The drivers door is kissing the front fender.Get it fixed and do a inspection and find a 1/2 inch shim on the lower hinge.
After a heated call to the agent explaining that the shim is not installed at the factory and I pay prems to have things repaired to factory specifications.Fix it right will you.
Well it goes back in to be fixed. The body shop says they where ordered to by S.F.They fix it and my next prem comes in a little higher.
Well I did some shopping and c-ya State ripoffs.Went to Zurich and they did the same thing. Now with AIG for over 3 years.
So the moral of the story is State is ok until you make a claim then your rates are going up like a electric bill.
They did send me a letter about a year or so later wanting me to come back.I'm sorry it slipped out of my hand landed in the shredder.OOPS how careless of me.

Strength:

It's cheap! I actually got more bang for the buck than from Geico and it's about $30 cheaper/month.

Weakness:

None so far...I haven't dealt with problems yet with customer service, settling claims, getting money for problems, etc. since I haven't had any accidents yet with the company.

State Farm was the cheapest car insurance I found so far...I also got life insurance included with my car insurance policy and it was only a few bucks more per month. The cost was far below other policies I looked up. Considering I've never had an accident or anything, I didn't understand why my previous insurance was so high...definetely a good deal so far!

Geico - way too expensive considering I've never had an accident and I'm over 25 years old

Customer Service
Insane discounts for good drivers
Yearly Dividend Checks!

My local reps are great and very friendly. I have worked with State Farm since the beginning (Assigned Risk) and over the 10+ years I have developed a good relationship with them. Ive been very lucky to not any accidents which were my fault. I just got a letter from them getting the 10 year member status and A++ rating and now am a GRP Member (I cant be cancelled for any reason, accident or tickets aside - guaranteed). Just got a $94 company dividend check! Who else does that?!?
I currently have my car (Probe GT) and my moms car (88 Volvo) on the policy.
I am paying $440 / 6 months.
My rate just got reduced again. They keep reducing my rates.
Insane discounts:
$105 - Multicar
$444 - Good driver (Even 21st century cant beat that)
$110 - California good driver discount

Weakness:

None

If you're a good driver, its the best.
If you are young or have a bad record/ticket, look elsewhere. It will be cheaper.

Strength:

As long as you don't get into a accident, everything if fine.

Weakness:

Rates increase dramatically when involved in minor fender bender. Agents are rude when you start asking questions!

My parents, who are also with State Farm, recently damaged their side mirror by hitting it on the garage while backing out. Well, in 25 years of being with this co. they have an excellent driving record, they only have one ticket and this minor incident of hitting the mirror (just happened). State Farm took their insurace premium up from $414.00 every 6 months, to $691.00 every 6 months, this is for just ONE CAR!! Well, we called State Farm and told them it was time to send them packing. They way we see it, the good driving credits are merely a pat on the head for driving so well in all these years, but they mean absolutely NOTHING when you get in a minor fender bender, DON'T BE FOOLED! They are now going with Geico, same coverage and a total of $367.00 for 6 months, and that's for both vehicles combined! We will be switching soon too!

friendly service, and you can pay monthly.

Weakness:

sometimes the agent can be snotty, but i guess everyone has some bad days.

i would recommend this company. in my experience the rates are the lowest in my area, the service is prompt, rates never go up, (unless you get a dwi i was told), and you also get a multi-car, or multi-policy discount. my windshield got cracked from another car kicking a rock up at it, and i had no problems whatsoever about getting it replaced. it was quick, and they even called the glass shops for me. no hassle at all.
