None. They never tried contacting me after accident was reported by their client. Agent extremely rude. Policies half-baked.
Weakness:
Claims personnel not courteous or professional, General overall policies. Nothing like their ads state. Attempts to dodge all responsibility. If you're involved with them, you may need to retain a lawyer. I'm not a State Farm customer, but I've dealt with their claim adjusters. I was recently rear-ended by a state farm customer, and pushed into another car, totally wrecking my car. Because I only had liability on my car (It is 10 years old), I had to go thru state farm to try and get everything taken care of. That's was the beginning of the worst customer service experience I ever had (and am still having). According to the state farm rep, even though their client caused the accident and damage, they may not be responsible, because their client had a medical condition, and if that condition contributed to the accident, then their client isn't negligent, and they will deny the claim. This will all be determine by their investigation, which may take months to complete. The rep also stated that state farm will not be responsible for any unreasonable cost (they determine what's reasonable) I incur by having to rent a car to get around. And, here's the kicker, the agent also stated the State Farm isn't responsible for storing my car at a salvage yard, even if they do find their client negligent. So I was told I better move the car, which I can't do because I live in a apartment complex, or be responsilbe for the cost of storing it. The agent was rude, as if I was ruining her day. I think someone mention it before, State Farm drivers should have special markings on their cars, so other drivers know to avoid them at all cost. I agree. As a note, once, about ten years ago, I was rear-ended by a GEICO client. The claim was resolved in about 2 weeks, and there was no issue with me renting a car while mine was being repaired. The only difference then was my car was drivable. Only buy if you will positively never have to use. Otherwise, you may what to try GEICO, or someone, anyone, else. Still waiting for claim to be settled with Sate Farm. Similar Products Used: GEICO |

Weakness:
Claim office was difficult to deal with and very unprofessional. There was not continuity in the processing of my claim and I found I was frequently given different stories of how my claims would be handled and what was transpiring with claims. I have been with State Farm for 15+ years and thankfully have needed to use their services only a few times. When I needed to use their services I have found they DO NOT stand behind their policyholders. On the few times I needed them they have choosen to take the "easy" way out and just pay claims without investigation. An example would be when I was rear-ended and they paid the claim to the person who hit me with a police report clearly showing that this accident was not my fault. I've also needed to use the homeowners policy for a claim and again found that they do not investigate prior to paying out claims. |

Just hope you never actually need to use your insurance. I've noticed that all the good reviews of state farm are from people that have clean records. I have had a couple of minor incidents and have been royaly screwed by state farm on each one. The one that has done them in as far as I'm concerned was the last one. I was rear ended on the freeway by some wackjob weeving through trafic. His insurance didn't want to accept liability. I filed a claim with state farm. They found me not at fault. They then proceeded to arbitration without any form of a written statement from me. They then lost the case (which I belive was deliberate since the damage was negligable and it nearly doubled my premium). Now they want 1/3 of the value of the car every 6 months. Take note that you won't find many reviews stating that they handled a claim fairly, because they rarely do. I have several friends that have dealt with them and it has always been a nightmare. Usually if they have anything nice to say about the incident, they are complimenting the other guys insurance company (I have been recomended to Progressive as well as Geico this way). |

Poor customer service, random price hikes In April of this year, we switched our car insurance to State Farm. We have had nothing but trouble since we started with them. They have cancelled parts of our policy 2 different times and reinstated it. They increased our price after we paid the premium because they did to have the correct information, the correspondences from State Farm are always after they have done something to the policy. I hate to see what will happen after an accident of some kind. We have had State Farm in the past, but it is really difficult to do business with them now. The agent (Cathi Phillips)does even return phone calls. Similar Products Used: Travelers |

Other than the rates I was given this company cares about the customer.
Weakness:
It ain't free. This insurance company is awesome for me. I have just recently got about 20 different quotes from different insurance companies for my little 2003 Civic(with side air bags, which means nothing to insurance companies). Everyone other than "Gieco"(priced me 10 beans more than Statefarm) were pretty insanely priced I even called some that qouted me over a thousand for 6 months(and I'm an excellent drive with superb credit at 33 yrs old.) just to see why it's so high. I now have State Farm as my Auto, home, motorcycle and now I'm getting a vehical loan from them. Similar Products Used: Several quotes from other insurances. Gieco and Allstate. |

My agent called within just to see if we were ok and then helped us through the process. a few months before he had us in his office when we paid our 6 month premium and explained all the coverages, I always had what is called full coverage, but my State Farm Agent explained exactly what that meant, I didn't understand before that meting about medical coverage and rental coverage. I had probably thought that full coverage meant it just covered whatever happened that was not my fault. Agent and his staff are a good strength, they are always friendly and return my phone calls
Weakness:
well I think it might cost more, but I am in sales and I know that alot of times you get what you pay for. Wife recently had an accident, another car did not stop crossing a 4 way intersection. Luckily she was not seriously injured. There ere 2 other passengers in her car, my sister in-law and 12 year old niece. They both had minor injuries. The other driver was at falult , but did not have any insurance even though she lied to police and said she did. We had the non insured driver coverage on our policy and State Farm, took care of everything. They paid the car repair bills, doctor's bill and helped us with a rental. Similar Products Used: I used to have another insurance co. and they were ok, but took them a while to call me back |

Nice to talk as long as you pay your premiums and do not ask for any claim processing.
Weakness:
- Manipulative - Do not listen and analyse facts - Lengthy and time-consuming procedures for settling claims - Just want to reduce cost of accidental repairs The worst claim handling department I have seen. Just pray that you never need to deal with them for settling a claim. I had an accident with a car that took a left from a minor street to a major street that had a through traffic. I could'nt stop because the other car did not yield and practically came in front of me on rainy day. Cop ticketed her, witness said that she was at fault and she herself admitted it. However the so-called 'friendly neighbour company' says I am 20% responsible for the accident. They are most frustrating company to deal with. |

I don't even know where to start! State Farm Insurance may be the biggest and "Number 1" but I have news for you! I have been reading all of these reviews and have yet to come across one regarding bodily injury and medical coverage! I had full coverage insurance with coordinated medical coverage. I was reended by another State Farm customer. In this accident I sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury, Herniated Lumbar and Sacral Discs, Pinched Nerves in neck and back, as well as numerous other aliments. Due to the brain injury, I now suffer from Complex Parital Seizures, Post Traumatic Stress, Anxiety/Panic Disorder and severe Depression. I have been through 5, 12 week boughts of Physical Therapy, Brain Injury Rehabillitation for almost 2 years and have had every single test imaginable. Your policy states State Farm is responsible to pay up to 3 years for your benefits regarding said accident. Well State Farm has now decided to contest my injuries and has discontinued my wage loss, household services and prescription reimbursements, etc., and never did pay my medical insurance expense. I have to sue State Farm not once but twice. And here is the kicker, I live in Michigan and No Fault is the law... Therefore, I have to sue my own insurance policy!!! I am not allowed by law to sue the person who caused the accident or their policy, even though it is the same company and this person was talking on their cell phone, hit me without touching his break, and received a ticket. So I have now been forced to go on welfare!!! And SSI Disability!!! I am a 29 year old women, who before this accident had worked FULL TIME since I 15!!! I have NEVER asked anything of anyone, supported myself, and paid my damn premium on time every month!! Needless to say, I am suing this company for everything!!! Not even a million dollars will give me my life back, but this company should be responsible for my well being until I am able to take care of myself again!! |

Expensive (but worth it) I have been with State Farm for 3 years. I have a clean record. My brother drove my car and crashed into the guard rail on the freeway. It was 180 miles from where I live. He called and I was on the phone to my agent. She handled everything and got the car back that day. Within 2 days I went around to repair companies and had estimates done. There was $8000 worth of damage to the car. Once I had the right place my agent cleared the money and the work began on fixing the car. She did not question anything about the crash. I love this agent. I also have my Life insurance, and house insurance through this agent. She has always been there for me and my family. My rates went up 2 dollars after the crash. |

Wont fight for you. They don't like to be questioned Love to give you the run around. They don't like to talk to you. They don't fight or investigate. They are not by your side. Fails to notify you if someone claims against you. Poor attitude toward the police dept. Not worth the money I've had state farm for about 3 years. Well Thought they were a great company, Never had any problems. Then I got into an accident, very small. Police even refused to fill out an accident report saying damage was less than 500 dollars between both cars together. Well time went on I thought that the other person never made a claim because they never told me. Then my rates skyrocket and I want to know why. I call them and found out they paid her nearly 800 dollars to replace her cigarette lighter and front seat recliner. I rearended her! All of the witnesses were surprised that there was really no damage, but statefarm felt the need just to give away money. But it really ticks me off that they never notified me that they were going to pay out. And they had no plans of ever telling me.They refuse to give any more information claiming to protect the other's privacy.I already have her address and license plate number. I don't want to bug her just find out if that stuff on her car was broken before the accident. Research and see if she had an estimate for those things before the accident. Well when it comes down to it, if you have less than 1000 dollars worth of things on your car you want fixed, just get into an accident with a statefarm insured car, and make it look like their fault. They'll replace it. They don't fight for their policy holders, that's the way I see it.1 of 5 cars insured by them? wake up people There are a great number more of companies out there. With better prices and services and will be on your side. |
