On 12/26/05 I was driving my uncle's car and was hit by a teenager driving with his mom. The kid failed to yield onto the highway and just came right out and hit me. I hit another car and then went through a small fence. I went to the hospital to get checked out, and luckily I didn't suffer any serious injuries. State Farm refused to pay for the damage to the car, so it was a total loss. My uncle had the car for less than 2 years and it was involved in other accidents that were not his fault. I am guessing this is why State Farm refused to cover it this time. It took State Farm nearly a month to send me the paperwork for me to fill out for my claim. Nearly four months later, my hospital bills still have not been paid. Everyday I've been getting the bills and letters from the hospital. I spoke with Paulette, who is handling my claim, and each time I talk with her it's the same excuse..she doesn't have my papers on her desk. She placed me on hold for nearly 15 minutes then said she has to contact the hospital, because they lost all of the paperwork I mailed them. I faxed her the bills yesterday and according to her those are just follow ups. This seems like it's going to be a waste of time and each time I talk to Paulette I'm going to keep getting the run around. And State Farm is supposed to be like a good neighbor?

Adjusters are F-in stupid

State Farm sucks. I was hit by a driver not paying attention from behind. This person admitted guilt. First off my 1yr. old suv was bad and I was told it was totaled then they decided to fix it. $9000.00 went into it and when I picked it up it was horrible I had to take it to another body shop, State Farm wanted me to take it back to the 1st one no way. another $3500.00 and it had to go to Saturn 3x $2000.00 it's still messed up but they won't do anything else. now my injuries my medical bills are well over $15,000. I lost time from work got fired! The physical therapist caused more injuries that are life threatening and State Farm offered my attorny $2000.00 Oh yeah the person who hit me has state Farm. Then they higher my premium I cancled them and went with All State I heard bad things about them too but there cheaper with my accident. I cannot believe the treatment through this I was minding my own business stopped at a light when I was nailed from behind I had nowhere to go and this is how my ins. treats me after 18 yrs. Thanks!

State Farm recently dropped my insurance policy, without warning, solely on the grounds that I live with people who don’t have clean driving records. They simply sent a letter one day with an enclosed check refunding the rest of my policy, citing a consumer report they received from ChoicePoint Inc. as the reason. The consumer report consisted of two separate minor accident reports from two of my family members- despite the fact that they were not insured through State Farm and each of us own separately registered vehicles, State Farm still found this consumer report to be grounds for dropping me. I have a clean driving record, have never filed a claim and had been a loyal customer for 4 years, so I was not expecting this to happen. When I called my local agent to inquire why this action was taken, they told me that they would not insure me as long as I lived with anyone who had been in reported accident. ChoicePoint Inc, I have come to find out, is a lovely company which amasses public records on people and sells it back to insurance companies, among others. Often the picture they paint of you is incorrect and there’s usually nothing you can do about it. I’m sure State Farm isn’t the only insurance company that uses ChoicePoint consumer reports but the assumption State Farm made about my driving abilities is pretty far-fetched.

STATE FARM INSURANCE STINKS! I second Dracer's review below. If a person hits you who is insured by State Farm, fat chance you will receive a settlement. State Farm's obvious goal is to pay on as few claims from others as possible. In our case, a person opened their door on the side of our car leaving a good size dent. You would think it would be an open and shut case considering we had a police report where the person opening the door admitted his guilt. We also have another witness who saw the event. Yet State Farm naturally decided to deny our $500 claim. If they had treated us right as we thought was going to happen during their preliminary procedures, we had decided we were going to transfer all of our insurance needs to them. Well that didn't happen. Now they lost a customer and gained an enemy who plans to inform the world of the injustice.

In continuation to various reviews posted by different people, I elobarate to this forum about my trauma while making a claim on my own policy with State-Farm. State-Farm customer service is absolute bad. Questions they ask will make any claimant sick and find unreasonable. They would be happy, if you just pay premiums but no claims. Whenever you call 1-800-call-center number they will ensure to make you wait some-time, followed by some rude thug lethargic node listens to your statements.She/He would again ask some qusetions and finally you end up loose your patience. Next time, when you call to follow-up, the same cycle goes and followed by your repeat story. At-Last when you give up, some body called a "adjuster" would emerge and evaluate the damage for half(of what needs to be repaired). Rest it is your head-ache to negotiate or plead or pay with the body shop to get fixed. This Adjustor offline would cut a deal with body-shop to have your hard-earned money LOOTED. The Bottom Line is Your Loss is State-Farms's Adjustor & Claim Processor's ecstasy. Keep this in Mind, before you even think of going to State-Farm.

Pray you don't get hit by someone with State Farm Insurance. I was rear-ended by someone with State Farm and they paid to fix my car but not my medical bills. their claims office has no idea what customer service is and don't care. They don't care what kind of image they are giving State Farm, no do they realize their bad attitudes reflect on State Farm. They are arrogant enough to think they are too big to be hurt by a few denied claims. We need to pass the word and show them what bad PR can do. The executives of State Farm (Edward B. Rust Jr. and Vincent Trosino) need to know their claims offices need customer service training badly. My letters to the executives were just diverted back to the claims department--think they know there's a problem???? Yep.

For 29 years I faithfully paid for State Farm Insurance. I was just dropped for 3 speeding tickets and a non-ticketed accident (less then $400) in the last 3 years. They had the gall to offer me a policy with SF Fire and Casualty for $2970 a year. Geico, wihich I found out hates to insure Michigan drivers because of too many fraudalent claims, offered insurance to me for $2055. I finally went with Progressive for $1304. I had 4 cars, 2 motorcycles and a homeowners policy with that theiving company State Farm. I asked my agent to look up how many years I went without having a speeding ticket or accident; basically, how many years did State Farm stand there and have their greedy hand out. What is wrong with this is State farm is a private company, no different then your local gas station. What would happen if you pulled in to get a tank of gas, and the local gas station ran an MVR, saw your speeding tickets and then decided YOU should pay $10 per gallon of gas, because you're an "at-risk" driver. Is there a difference.

We were treated horribly by an auto body shop State Farm recommended we use (the shop ended up tying our battery down with rope!), and instead of making it right, State Farm insulted us, and told us they believed the auto shop's account of what happened and not ours. They still do business with this crazy shop and recommend it to customers.

A few months ago I was in a minor accident in which i slid into a simple traffic sign. Not a big deal, except that it was only THEN that I was told by the police that I didn't have any insurance. I thought that I had, but State Farm had let the policy lapse without informing ANY members of my family. We were all on the same policy and we don't live together, so we all assumed that one of the others was handling it, when in fact, NOBODY had been contacted in any way. Then to make matters worse, they would not restore the insurance afterward saying that, as a policy, they "do not insure uninsured drivers." I had to pay a 500 dollar fine for driving without insurance and am on probation for a year in order to keep my perfectly clean record unmarred by this event. They continue to deny any responsibility for the problem.
