Your auto insurance is really a package of seven primary coverages, which together make up a standard auto policy. Each of these coverages has its own separate premium. There also are other add-on coverages such as GEICO Multi-Risk Physical Damage Insurance and Emergency Road Service protection available for additional premium costs.

Strength:

They have no strengths, they totally suck.
And their prices suck too.

I hate geckos.

Weakness:

They lie, their insurance investigators constantly hound you to find some kind of inconsistency to not pay you.

They suck, absolutely positively suck.

My car was stolen and Geico gave me the run around for months until they finally decided that they were not going to pay my claim due to a technicality in the contract.

That technicality was an initial that I missed when i signed up with them.

BEWARE! They stalled and stalled until they could find a way NOT to pay.

But then again, isn't that what all insurance companies do?

Geico Insurance contracted our car out to Kimballs Automotive to have some car damage repaired. They poorly repainted the hood of the car and quarter panels. The paint and clear coat are cloudy. Kimballs had a 3rd party windshield shop (unable to get any information of who did it) that did such a poor job on the seal, that several inches of water built up in the floor board two different times during a good rain. This has caused some minor electrical issues that Geico, Kimballs, or the windshield nobodies refuse to help fix due to all the water and condensation getting in to the components. They also damaged and ruined the car's door moldings which they also won't fix.
If you live in the Northwest and Geico insists you take to Kimballs, you should demand another place or your choice. Geico will not make sure the work is done right and Kimballs is about as 'flea-market automotive shop' as you can get. Be aware that the Geico rep be there when you inspect the car as they are very deceitful and suddenly can't be there when you look it over.

Outstanding customer service. Able to reach Geico 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Weakness:

I haven't found any.

I have read several of the negative reviews about Geico and I felt that I had to share my experience. I have been with Geico for over 10 years. I have 4 teenagers, who during that period have totaled 3 of our cars and my newly licensed 16 years old daughter just got into a car accident last week. Geico has always been terrific. They have responded promptly. Always asked if we needed a rental car. We have never had trouble getting progress updates, and if we had to leave a message for someone, our calls have always been returned promptly. I have been insured by many of the major insurance carriers. None of them are perfect (including Geico) but my personal experience with Geico has been outstanding. My premiums are high because I have 4 late model cars on my policy, but I have comparison shopped and Geico is NO higher than any of their major competitors. Actually, none of the other companies could beat Geico's rates. I, for one, plan to stay with Geico for the long haul (unless they cancel me due to all the accidents that my kids have had.)

Strength:

Great customer service, until you get into an accident

Way too expensive, no one in the company talks to each other

I had Geico since I was in High School. It was great! they were prompt in service and helped me out with every question that I had. Since I am in the military, they even gave me a Federal employees discount! I move to California and got into my first accident and everything went down-hill from there. The accident wasn't even my fault! A guy on the highway rear-ended me and I had to pay the deductible. They said it was because the other car was a rental. Then, they told me that my car was totaled and all they valued my car at was $3,000. I bought the car only 2 months before for $6,000. Kelly Blue Book had my car at $5,000! On top of that my premium each month ended up doubling, making my insurance payment almost triple my car payment! After my claim was filed, it was impossible to find out who was handling the claim. There were too many people and you neve knew who to call to get a progress report. Not to mention, if you got some one that had worked on the claim, the new person had no idea what that one did on the project and know idea what the next person was doing! It was like the left hand wasn't talking to the right!

I just want to say that everyone has their tough time stories, but I want to give a big hug to GEICO. In February of 2004 I had a paragliding accident and rendered unconcious. In California, there has been a law on the books, that says if you are ever unconcious the DMV (department of motor vehicles) suspends your licence. Well I played the dickens getting the DMV in reinstating my license. Also geico was the only company out of several well known companies, who would insure me, and I had a perfect record up to my paragliding fall from the air. Thanks GEICO.

Strength:

They pay the claims posted to your account, like, right away.

Weakness:

The get 10 times more the claim from , in the form of increase in the premiums, because you are 'risky' now. That is, if the claim is more than $500.

Well, sure they pay the check right away. I scratched the bumper of a car; and as a responsible citizen, left a note on the car's windshield. The person claimed just a little more than 500$. Guess what, geico told me that they treat any claims over $500 the same. Be it $501 or $10000 ( Rules ! ). Since the next cycle, I've been paying $600 more EVERY YEAR. They said your insurance will go down in a year, then in a couple of years since you'll get first accident pardon and all that. I'm still paying way more than my friends. Will be switching soon. It's a good insurance, just until the end of your insurance coverage period when a claim is made.

Everything! Gieco service sucks! They need to changge something about there weak service.

Gieco sucks they wouldn't even lesson to my claim because my online account had been suspended and I could not pay my bill and they canceled my insurance three days before I got into a accident.

I would like to say how GOOD geico was.
They stated on my claim the day i had the accident. They were out to look at my car the next day and they also provided me a rental to get to work that same next day. I have never experienced an accident before they made it so easy i did nothing they took care of everything and kept me informed the hole time. I will continue to have gecico handle all my insurance needs and i have recomended them to everyone i know. thank you for your time .

NOTHING - RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

EVERYTHING!!! Don't be fooled by the cute character in their ads!!

Unfortunately you can't pick the insurance of the person who rear-ends you! If I could, they definitely wouldn't have had Geico insurance. What a complete disaster!! The guy who ran into me pushed me into the truck in front of me - so I had both front end and rear end damage which totaled my vehicle. I had endless problems trying to talk to the person assigned to handle my claim - had to talk to her voice mail. The claims adjuster gave me a quote on my car that was $3,000 under the Kelley Blue Book value and over $1,000 under the NADA value. (My car, a Honda Civic, was in excellent condition with UNDER the normal mileage for its age.) When I asked where he came up with his figure, he replied they used Auto Trader.com and ads from local newspapers!! While I was trying to settle the amount with him, he got very agitated about my use of a rental car. He insisted that it had to be returned - even before we had reached a settlement! When I did receive a check, I wanted to cash it right away so I could get a replacement car immediately, but was told by the Bank of America that Geico insurance wouldn't allow their checks to be cashed - they had to be deposited (my particular bank won't clear large checks for 11 days!!!!). Oh....and they were going to offer me $100 for my pain and suffering and wanted me to agree to that less than 48 hours after the collision.

Apparently they have morons working for them.
They don't call to update you on the status of things and if you want any information you have to call them. Hopefully they call you back. I was told he would get back to me in 5 minutes, several hours later I called him and he had simply forgotten.

Geico is AWFUL. I got into a car crash and called to report it and get a tow truck. The incompetent person on the phone took forever to ask all the basic questions and asked me at least 3 times what color my car was. (Is that really the most important question to be asking at that time?!) I don't hear from them for days and have to start calling them to get information about everything. I finally got a packet in the mail with auto repair information, and when I called the shop to check on the status, they said they didn't have the car. The insurance company said it was there, so there was a 3 day period where we all thought they had lost my (brand new) car. Finally it was found but throughout this I called numerous times to speak with my adjuster and got the feeling he didn't care at all, and was just trying to get me off the phone. I'm extremely unsatisfied with their level of customer service and will be switching when my policy expires. Thank goodness I only bought 6 months...
