Strength:

None that i can vouch for

Weakness:

Rude customer service, irresponsible

I moved from NJ to NC in 2006. I thought my insurance would go down but it didn't so i decided to try another insurance carrier, Allstate. What a mistake. Not only did my policy amount not go down, right before i cancelled it i got a letter stating they found mistakes in my policy on their end and were going to raise it.

Well after I got married I went on my husbands State Farm policy since we also had our homeowners through them. (They are excellent by the way). I now pay $100 per month including my husband and myself as opposed to the $190 i paid per month for just myself with Allstate. When I called Allstate to cancel my policy they told me it had already been canceled due to non-payment. When i first moved into my house and got my first bill forwarded to me I filled out the back of the payment slip with my new address and whoever opened that envelope did not bother to read it or enter it. So i did not get anymore bills after that. Now I have to pay NC $50 for having a 1 month lapse in insurance. They did not even give me the courtesy of a phone call to tell me they were canceling me.

When I called my agents office they were very rude and told me I should be aware of my bills. I told them I am and thats why I don't ever have late payments and if a company gives the option to fill out the new address on the payment slip they should honor it. 1.5 months is not enough time to realize you have not recieved a bill on time.

If you sign up with them you will start to get phone calls constantly trying to sell you some roadside package for $1. If you google the number that comes up on your caller ID it will be nothing but complaints about how the people were hung up on when they asked to speak to a manager. Seems a little shady to me. Even if it's not Allstate calling, they still must be giving out their clients phone numbers to a company who is trying to get your credit card #.

Weakness:

Can't even fill out and mail a form.

We had allstate insurance for a couple of years and then canceled in September for a cheaper rate. In August my boyfriend got into an accident that was not his fault so allstate didn't have to pay anything. The state sent us a form requesting proof that my boyfriend was insured at the time. I called allstate and they said to fax them and they would mail it to the state. I faxed the form to them but they never sent it to the state. I got a notification today that his license has been suspended for 3 months and he is eligible for re-enstatement on 1/17/08. He's been driving this whole time!
This is so horrible, what a worthless company!

Strength:

The only strength would be if they went out of business.

Weakness:

They make you think mad thoughts.

Allstate is a horrible car insurance company. I was rearended July 1 and it wasn't until the 23 of July that my car made it in the shop. Their insured driver recklessly hit me, and due to dispute they had to view both cars before they could accept blame. During the whole process I had to call them about info. The only time they called back was when I said I will keep calling. They should be put out of business. I know what good car insurance is and that is 21st. I called them and they gave me advice and called and checked up on me, even though they had nothing to gain by helping me. Allstate is just beyond stupid.

Customer Care!!!!

They are the greadiest insurance agancy out there. I was a pedestrian-victim to one of their policy holders and have had to have 3 surgeries which were supposed to be covered by their no-fault policy. On the day of my first surgery my spouse had went to pickup scripts at the pharmacy only to find out that the stingy Allstate Company had not paid my previous 5 scripts that were filled at that location. So I had surgery but was unable to obtain my antibiotic and painmeds...Yeah I was in "GOOD HANDS"!!!

All state's motor roadside assistance is horrble! Took them three hours when they said it should only 45 minutes to pick up the car. They told me I had to wait by my car even when my apartment was a ten minute walk away. I had the flu and so waiting for 3hours in 90 degree weather no breeze was terrible... then I called and wanted it towed to sears inwhich they said they wanted an additional fee?!?!?!? They made me miss classes (univ. of flor.) inwhich a test review was during that day and homework was due. Totally inconvenient, and the people who handle the phones are not polite at all only giving you half their attention...

Weakness:

everything else...bad response time, bad service, high rates..

I have allstate insurance. My car was vandalized. I got several estimates for the damage 700 and up. Allstate said they have to give their own estimates which turned out to be 400! 300+ difference. And they refuse to pay the amount that others quoted me. And if i take to shop with that quote they will do a horrible job. Its a horrible company. If you have allstate you should switch to AAA.

Strength:

The people were friendly, but UNADJUSTING.

Weakness:

Refer to Review Summary:

An All-State Customer made an illegal left turn and as a result, we collided. The All-State Insurer offered me 90% of the damages. The light was green, admitted by myself, the All State Customer, and a witness. All State claims that based on their investigation that they will only pay 90% and it was my negligence. I could have done nothing to avoid this accident, absolutely nothing. This insurance company had no basis for their support. So for $375 they are fighting. Why should I be expected lose $375 for something that was not my fault? Why would they bother having people threating to sue for such a trivial amount? This Company is a joke. Next time you drive, please be careful and make sure that an All State Driver does not cause an Accident with you, otherwise you will have to pay.....

Stay Away from AllState Insurance

December 15, 2006

I strongly suggest anyone and everyone NOT to use Allstate. They will do everything possible to keep from paying out for a claim… Here’s my situation…

On November 8th, when I was having breakfast my glass of milk slipped out of my hand and spilled all over my laptop. Yes, crap happens… It was one of those mornings I was checking my email before leaving for work. I’m a full-time computer technician and living on a dairy farm just south of Harvard. I contacted my agent, and he said the renter’s insurance doesn’t cover any accidental damage like that. So, I took and threw the laptop in the dumpster since everything was fried in it.

Then on November 10th, my wife’s laptop got damaged by the thunderstorm that we had roll through out area that night. I waited until Monday the 13th to call the insurance company. Went all the way through the procedures of filing the claim. Gave them a full insurance evaluation that we as computer technicians are trained to do.

Well, they called my back a week later and said that they rejected the claim. I called customer service and asked them, they said that because they believed that I was trying to get the same laptop fixed under two different claims. I asked them “Am I the only one that owns more than one laptop???” The agent couldn’t respond. I told them it was a week of bad luck all the way around. Even on the farm, we lost 2 cows, out of 30. That’s a big loss. The first laptop was made by a company called Spartan. The second was a Dell. The Spartan was only worth about $1200, but my wife’s Dell was one with large hard drives, 17in LCD, a newer Core Dou chip… It cost around $2200 when I first purchased it. That’s a big loss if you ask me…

Now the Insurance company wants to do absolutely nothing about it. They said, I could file a lawsuit with an attorney. But, by the time I do that, I might as well purchase a new laptop. Attorneys aren’t cheap.

My suggestion, get your insurance from State Farm or Country Companies. I went to Allstate because they offered a lower renter’s insurance policy for me. BIG MISTAKE.

Thanks
Tim

Weakness:

Horrible Auto insurance coverage when you have an accident. Also they jacked up my premium due to an accident for which I was not at all at fault(rear-ended on the highway by a kid)

Worst insurance company ever. my 2006 Acura TSC was damaged by another Allstate insuree. All State refused to pay market price for my car to be fixed at a regular bodyshop. Then their claim department instructed their so call 'Pro-Shop' to use recycled and reconditioned parts on my new car! Furthermore, their Corporate Customer Relations department thinks using used parts is acceptable industry practice. Unbelievable.

I once was parked, and when I came back, my car had been hit. A note left by a witness described details of who had hit me. The "hit and run" traced back to an Allstate insured motorist. I NEVER got any compensation from Allstate. After I asked several times through letters and calls over months seeking damages, They just kept uttering the phrase "Our insured is not reponsible", with no justification for that statement. (I suppose "I" was responsible, having been parked?)
Eventually I got money for damages, but never from Allstate. I sued (Took me many more months to go through the suing process), but the owner himself settled with me. I was offended Allstate's blatant lie ("not reponsible") on behalf of a hit and run motorist who was proven at fault by a witness.
