I have 4 cars insured, with 2 drivers under 21. I was extremely pleased with the service provided by my (former) independent insurance agent. The premium with Ohio Casualty was far cheaper than Prudential or Allstate. I switched to AIG 3 years ago to save hundreds of dollars in premiums. Last year, my daughter was involved with a minor accident ($1,800)with a trucker who also had AIG Insurance. Her car did not have collision coverage. As a result, I had to follow up myself to get paid. Unlike other insurance companies, there was no agent working exclusively for me. Being a customer of AIG is a trade-off- you get substantially lower rates for less personalized service. I am willing to accept this, but others may not.

Dishonest business practice, bad customer service.

This Insurence company send me 4 offers before I've made a desigion to call them.
At this time my vife had almost expaired 9 points (3 more month and her record cleaned again) and she is not a bad driver, just few times bad luck
(Ignoring lines... and one very old 'accident with a few light scratches on the fender) but point is that I did tell about all of her points to the customer representative and have write them all to the application, so no suprize ?
2 month leter , 1 month before her point experation we recevied a cancelation note, that AIG checked my vife's record and found all those points... what a surprize? As a result I've lost a lot of money just for one month to open a new insurence.
I will newer go to AIG again, they computer system is probably 30 or more yers old, long on hold time and rugh customer service.

When doing biz by phone you may have to wait.Different agent every time you call.

Had them for 3+ years now.Got a 18 and 20 year old on the policy.Rates went up when we added them.Thats to be expected.But they went down 150 after the 1 year with them on it.
Have had one claim with them.House insulation flipped out of the bed of my pickup on to the freeway causing a 2 semi/1 Durango pile up.No serious injuries just bumps and bruises.

They (AIG) called me and asked what happened.Told them and no threats or anything was used to make me feel like I was pond scum.Professional people.

Got my new premium and the rates did not go up.Keeping my fingers crossed for the Sept. bill.

I insure a 2000 Durango,94 Toyota truck 4x4,93 VW,90 Mazda.

Switched to AIG from Prudential back in 1995. Initially had excellent rates. My wife and I both are safe drivers with no moving violations. My parents (retired), had a few fender benders and the rates immediately increased on all 3 vehicles insured (the parents just drive one).
The adjusters were always incompetent.....seem to place my parents at fault even before the facts were received. I had to demand a more competent adjuster on two claims for my parents. The claim checks came quickly...ONLY IF you are persistent and call them continuously!
Why do I stay with them? With my parents' blemished driving records, AIG is the only insurer that will insure them at a reasonable rate.
What can I say? All insurers are parasitic bottom dwellers.

They are good at taking your premiums until you have an accident and then they act like they never heard of you.

HORRIBLE customer service, NEVER return calls or let you speak with the same person twice, do not follow up on claims. They should be put out of business.

The worst customer service experience from the most incompetent staff I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. Our car was totaled on a cross country trip, the claim was made immediately following the accident, and they did not have the vehicle appraised for THREE MONTHS, because they claimed they could not find it, even though we called them numerous times and the wrecking yard called them. They NEVER returned our phone calls until we had a lawyer contact them. They continued to send our mail to the wrong address, after we had given it to them in numerous calls and email messages, and did not settle our claim until almost FIVE MONTHS after the accident. We have filed complaints with the insurance commissioner and continue to seek legal advice about this matter.

Wolf in sleeps clothing. That best describes what AIG has best become to me. As this company has quickly increased my premuim and made countless mistakes, for no apparent reason.

It is best just to look elsewhere. My intial rate is a far from the current. I went from 3 vehicles with full coverage for less than $1000 to what is now 2 vehicles with full coverage, 1 liability, and cargo trailer(only $15) for $1145 total for six months. To some this might seem reasonable, but my record is perfect, no tickets, no accidents for more than five years, nothing. Why the increase? The answer from AIG is normal increase for the state of Kentucky.

All correspondence is done through mail. Wish they had a local office.

I couldn't be happier with my insurance company. I live in NJ (highest rates in country). AIG offers you great coverage at afforable rates. I saved $500 myself.

No grace period for payment delay and no way to auto-pay to a monthly account.

I would recommend this company to any and have. Take it from someone who didn't want to change insurance companies, once you get comfortable no one likes much to change, there is enough to keep up with. But thanks in part to Allstate, I switch AIG and saved just over 40%. And I could not be more happy.

They had the lowest rates for 3 years no claims or accidents. Perfect driving record for 20 years. We got our policy renewal notice and the
rates went up 28%. Their answer is that they had a lot more claims in Claifornia. They were exstremely rude on the phone and keep repeating the same story. I have gone to the Clalifornia Insurance Commissoners office inL.A. to checkout this co. They are very unscrutulous and I will never use them again as my ins. co.
