A total scam - BAIT AND SWITCH! I am very disappointed with AIG. I started with them through my Chase credit card on this pretty good offer. They offered me $530 for 6 months for both my Audi A4 (Collision and Liability) and my 64 Mustang (just Liability). So then 6 months later I get a bill for $660. I call, ask what happened, they tell me people in my state are getting in accidents, blah blah blah and sorry, that's the way it is. Begrudgingly I accept it. So then tonight I come home and get my bill....$706. I call, get upset w/ Customer Service guy - and he gives me the same spiel again. From $530 to $706 is a 33% increase! The real bummer is my former insurance agent from Mercury warned me...and he even said, I'm not kidding "Call me after the boost your rates on you". He knew these guys do the bait and switch - as do a number of people apparently. Good bye AIG - and I promise nobody I ever talk to will EVER take your insurance. Unethical business practices and violation of State laws. This company is involved in unethical business practices and I have already filed a complaint with the MD Insurance Administration and the Snall Claims Court. I was quoted a fair premium over the Internet, but, as soon as I had paid it, I recived notice that the premium has gone up by 97 percent (!) per semester. There was no material change or new development since I had provided the initila information. This company must be avoided at all costs! Similar Products Used: GEICO |

Lower rates .if you consider that a strength. I cant relate to claims because I havent had any accidents-I dont have very good vibes though.
Weakness:
Stating low prices but not maintaining that price. Im paying 200 more than what I was originally quoted. Even though the premimun is still lower than most aim still looking for another company,I just dont trust them I had the same problem that several folks have had-getting drawn in with a very low quote, then the premiums go up for the next couple of years. Very hard to talk with over the phone, offices all over the country. I wouldnt reccommend Aig to my worst enemy. Im looking for a better insurance company with lessons learned. You get what you pay for. Similar Products Used: Nation wide,Geico |

everything I will never use AIG as an insurance agency again, They put up my insurance after 1 month sating I have no home so there for have to pay the full amount of the insurance. I can''t afford that every 6 months at over 1,400.00. I asked for monthly payments and they where willing till I said my home was a mobile home. I got told by costomer service that a mobile home is not a home. It has no motor and I pay property tax on it so it must be a home. It is My Home and that are just pregedice. Similar Products Used: I found an agency called A agency that is very low in payments and even lowere then AIG. chech them out. |

Pricing is a fraud These guys are a joke. They sent me a renewal notice claiming that my rates had actually gone down, but voila they actually went up by forty bucks. I am swiotching back to State Farm to just to save the headache that I am sure will come when I have a claim. What a terrible company!!! |

Dishonest BS artists. I went with AIG about 2 years ago to get out from my very high State Farm premiums.AIG had the lowest rates but wallah! My rates jumped 25% the next year...AIG said it just reflected the adjustments for the area i live in.What BS!And BTW neither my wife or I have had a ticket in over 20 years and no accidents in 10.I just switched to Unitrin...don''t know much about them but they were 340.00 cheaper a year.My rates with State Farm very seldom went up.Insurance companies do pay out a lot for bogus claims and fraud but they get it back from honest people with bait and switch schemes. |

Inefficient, bureaucratic, inconsiderate all start from the top management. AIG has the worst service I have experienced. Here is the reason: Our insurance with AIG took effect on Dec. 10, 2001. On Jan. 3, 2002, we received a notice from John Colona, VP of Underwriting. In it, he stated unless we provide info about our son, or he would cancel our policy on Jan. 14. This was the second time he requested the same info. We sent a fax that night with an explanation again that our son lived in another state and that he was not covered by the insurance. How difficult could it be to understand? After several calls to check the status and got nothing, we called again on Jan. 14 and were told that our policy was good until June, and in the meantime the fax was still waiting to be reviewed by John Colona. We started to feel uneasy with the company. Called again on Jan. 17. According to the rep., the policy was cancelled on Jan. 14 (remember we were told the policy was good till June on the last call?) and, get this-it was STILL WAITING to be reviewed and it might be reinstated later depending on the review. The inefficiency, the bureaucracy, the inconsiderate, uncaring, and so-what attitude from AIG, especially from John Colona, was unbelievable. We are only glad that we found it out early and not wait till the time when we need to use the insurance. We immediately signed up with Safeco. The process was painless, the agent helpful. The rates are higher than AIG''''s, buy you get what you pay for. Similar Products Used: GEICO-Do not trust their ads. The premium we paid (had been with them for 27 years before switched to AIG) was higher than all the quotes we got from several reputable companies. Safeco - so far, |

Strength:
Rates for auto and home were very good until my son turned 16, then became just average.
Weakness:
Since you don't have an agent, you're always talking to a different person. May wait awhile to talk to someone. Poor follow up on questions. I don't think I'll try them again just because you never have one person who knows you or your situation. They did a poor job in following up on questions I had for them. (Would typically not return calls.) Their rates seem to be more competitive when there are no young drivers in the household. We have no tickets or accidents on our record. They rated our teenage son as if he would be driving all our 4 cars, so all the premiums went up. Similar Products Used: I switched to American family because rates were better and had a local agent. I had no claims with AIG. |

Strength:
24/7 Customer Service, Low Rates, Quick Correspondences, Quick Discount Adjustments
Weakness:
Not all the agents are the same, some are nicer than others. Some hold time, but at least you can speak to someone. I have several cars insured with AIG with comprehensive coverage and their prices are very good. It is nice to be able to speak to an agent 24/7 with questions and they are very helpful with 'what if' pricing. My last company, Travelers, was very pricey and I hated the fact that I can only speak to someone 9 - 5 pm during the weekdays?! Living in NYC area, there is no such thing as a 9-5 business. Similar Products Used: Travelers - 9-5 hours and no weekends customer service, horrible record keeping and very pricey premiums. State Farm - Nicer agents, but premiums flucuate by quite a bit. |
