I am not a customer of AIG and if the way I have been neglected is any indication of how they treat people then I am very glad I am an Allstate customer. My car was being repaired at a body shop (AIG Customer)after a theft incident, the car was ready on 12/16/03 and they called to tell me I could pick it up. As it was late in the day I told the body shop I could not get there until the next morning at which time the body shop called me at work at approx. 9:30 am to say that they went to start my car to move it up front in anticipation of my arrival (they had started it up and driven it with no issues up to this point for 2 weeks) and it would not start. They had it towed to a garage who told me that it was a timing belt and would be at least $1700 for parts and then labor on top of it. My husband then had it towed to his garage and had his mechanic give a second opinion which concurred with the first but went the extra step to find out the reason. It turns out that its the entire motor that is not working and the estimate is $4300. I gave the body shop a working, 4 yr old car on 12/4/03 to fix a theft incident and on 12/16/03 the body called to say it was fixed and they tested everything and it was ready to go. On 12/17/03 they called to say that the car would not start and they did not know what happened. It was in their posession when it happened (whatever happened) and after a full scale investigation by my insurance companies investigative unit they determined it falls under the Garage Keepers Liability Insurance because they had posession at the time. It was turned over to AIG under this insurance on 1/5/04 and I have had nothing but the run around, given 5 different names and numbers and left a total of 14 messages in 4 days trying to talk with someone. It was not until I reached the AVP of claims today that I actually received a call back from an adjuster who proceeded to tell me that they will investigate and will not authorize the continuation of my rental car or car repairs until they determine what happened. Now why I am being treated like I did something wrong when I have not had my car for 34 days now and I am the victim with charges being racked up all over the place (rental car fees, storage fees from the garage where its sitting etc.). And the adjuster did not know how long this would take, they were all rude when I did talk to someone (and I have every name and number if anyone from that company cares about their image as a company and would like to retrain their staff who would benefit from a couple of days at Allstate) and I was made to feel totally left in the dark. This experience has been stressful to say the least and I have now consulted an attorney as of this afternoon.

I do not have AIG ins. & I'm glad I don't. They are slow at processing any claims filed & don't ever get back to returning your phone calls so that I can get my car repaired. I've never heard of this insurance co. before until now & I would not recommend it to anyone.

AIG is not our insurance company and will never be our insurance company. My husband and I had one of AIG's clients run a red light and hit us. AIG is screwing us and they are at fault.Plus we have have a mailman witness-plus AIG's clients attemted to commit fraud and lie to police. Thank you Mr. Mailman. He proves our story. They forget about my claim for 2 weeks because our claims rep. was away for 2 weeks for training and noone tended to our claim. In the meantime, we are trying to get our lives back on track after this idiot violates a basic traffic rule and hits us. They are denying our claim and basically not getting done what should have been done 2 weeks ago or started at least. Meanwhile my car is just sitting at shop and then they denied my rental car. We are not even customers of AIG and that company has put us through a huge financial and emotional burden on us. I will report to better business bureau too.I also reported them to State Insurance Department. I can only hope this does not happen to anybody else.

I had the most horrible experience with AIG auto insurance. We had a hail storm in Alabama on April 25, 2003. I had a few hail bumps. Minor hail damage to my car led to car being a total loss. They never told me I had an option. They just kept at my car. I drop my claim, it is now Oct. 6, and they are still giving me a hard time. I am going to drop them so help me. My time is just about up-Thank God! Seems to me if you are investing in insurance of any kind, they should give you a percentage of your money back in time of crises to help you with your problem not hurt you even worse. If I had a ragedy house and invested in fire insurance, if my house was to catch on a fire, I would expect something back to help me in a time of need. I hope that every one will complain about AIG who had a horrible experience. Like I stated earlier, they seems to be after my car, never gave me an option. I am still fighting to keep my car. I have a 1995 Nissian Sentra GXE, I had it for two years, I took it to the shop once in two years, just once. I love dependable cars, a car that I can count on. Another AIG VICTIM

I have the same complaint as other people. I got a quote from AIG back in March for $560 for my Jeep. Six months later (no claims and no tickets) my premium is jacked up to $776. I called customer service and they gave me the same BS story (i.e. everybody's rates went up; we are paying out more than we are getting in; blah blah blah). I am going to file a complaint with the Better business bureau and the Maryland Insurance Administration and I recommend all of you do the same.

Strength:

Lower rates than Allstate 3 yrs ago

Weakness:

They have been increasing rates at a phenomenal rate in the last 3 years.

Because of many $50 comprehensive claims in the early 90's due to vandalism damages such as spray paint and bashed in windows, Allstate put me in their assigned risk pool and doubled my premiums to over $1,200 per year in the late 90's. They insisted I would have to stay there for five years. I found that AIG had only a 3 year rule in Florida and their premium was half that of Allstate so I went with them. For one year, the premium stayed the same, then went up a little in the second year. In the third year, I believe, it went up into the $400's every 6 mos. Then, right after 9/11 in January 02, it went up to $560 every 6 mos. At that point, I dropped them. The 'boy' on the phone said the rate increases were due to 9/11 which was hog wash as I now see from all the negative comments about them and the story about what is happening in New Jersey where AIG wanted to pull out of the entire state. It would appear that a management decision has been made to bait with low rates and then switch to very much higher rates or the company has decided to get out of the auto insurance business in the U.S. Notice that they are buying a Japanese insurance company. Something is going on there which is not being told to the lower AIG people on the phone or they know what is going on and are not telling the truth when asked.

Strength:

At first I went because I got a screaming deal through the American Bar Association. But, to no great surprise to anyone here, they ultimately jacked my rates up substantially since that initial period. The only strength is that they gave me a rental car for over a month when I was rear-ended in an accident last year.

Weakness:

Customer service is terrible! YOu wait on the phone forever when you want to report a claim. I was in an accident last year (rear-ended) and I had just an awful time with my adjuster. I had to speak with his supervisor countless times because he was completely unresponsive. They didn't do anything to make it up to me.

I cannot wait to get out of AIG. The only reason I am still with them, and it is my own fault, is that I have been too busy with work. I give these guys a rating of "1". I also feel pretty foolish reading how they raised everyone else's rates--that is exactly what happened to me. On top of that, I think this company has some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. I am filling out an application for another service right now!

AIG INSURANCE CHARGES HIGH INSURANCE RATES RECOMMENT YOU USE AUTO OWNERS INSURANCE COMPANY THEY HAVE BEEN THE LOWEST THUS FAR.

AIG INSURANCE IS WAY OUT OF LINE I HAVE AUTO INSURANCE WITH HOME OWERS INSURANCE AND IT IS MUCH MUCH LOWER THAN AIG INSURANCE. I THINK THESE PEOPLE MUST HAVE FELL AND BUMP THERE HEAD TO HAVE ANYBODY PAY THIS MUCH FOR AUTO INSURANCE
