Strength:

maps

Weakness:

After 30 loyal years to AAA they canceled me in error and couldn''t fix the problem. The error gave me a 8 hour gap in insurance and the state fined me $250 per vehilce. I''m going to switch insurance companies as fast as they dropped me.

AAA can provide great service on minor claims. I also love those maps and tour guides. BUT, they have no customer loyalty and will drop you in a second if there computer doesn''t like something. They no longer know the meaning of customer service.

long lines for maps and services promised. Rude and Dogmatic about everything. customer service person could barely speak english. Jack in the
box has better service...

IT took four days to get someone to return my call just to get a windshield chip repaired. by the time they called back the chip was now a full crack. So instead of the repair costing 25.00 it cost 400.00

Strength:

Quality of service - speediness of claims - maps/discounts on travel - thoroughness of agents

Weakness:

Minor, but more offices would be nice.

Been insured for 11 years. Had 2 auto and 2 homeowners claims. In all cases, the claims were handled quickly and fairly. They made me feel like a person and not a number. There are more and more direct writers in the marketplace (like Geico), but I like the option of having an office I can visit to actually see my agent in person. Other perks are the DMV counter and unlimited maps. I will always have AAA!

Strength:

Are there any?

Weakness:

Many. Look down.

Even though I gave it a 1 Star rating, I really wanted to give it a 0 rating. My sister got into a car accident with an AAA driver. It has been weeks calling the AAA Claim Adjuster or whatever s/he call her/himself. Leaving messages after messages, we never reached the person--because of sick, travel, meeting, conference. We tried calling other AAA phone numbers, they told us they are not for claim and told us to wait. But how long do we have to wait? Is it until we forgot we were in a car accident? What a terrible company? Can someone suggest what I need to do.

Strength:

They really took care of things when I had auto accidents.
They were easy to contact, and made special arrangements to meet with me after their regular office hours because of my work schedule.
The offices are close by, and they are located all over the place.

Weakness:

The cost of insurance is EXPENSIVE!! Even with a good driving record.
If you have to go into the office, you usually have to wait in a long line. Calling them is much quicker.

If you want an insurance company that takes care of you, and don't mind paying higher costs, this would be a good company for you. However, I pay about $1043 a year for a 1989 Mercury Sable (This includes a good driver discount). When I get a new car, I probably will switch insurance companies, because I can't afford an even higher premium! It might get cheaper if you are older, though. My parents (60+) have good rates from this company.

Strength:

Had 2 major accidents within 1.5 years and both were taken care of fairly well!

Weakness:

Took a little extra effort to get what I wanted out of both accidents. A little more costly as well for maximum coverage (lease) and a clean driving record.

First accident: rear-ended which caused about $6K damage (including frame damage) to my last car. Other person's incsurance would only cover second-hand parts and no car rental for my 2 year-old car. AAA told me they would cover everything and go after the other person's insurance for the costs. My car was completely redone within 6 weeks. I did have to cover my car rental for the remainder 2 weeks over the coverage out of my own pocket. 3 years later, after signing an affadavit of my intention of testify against the other person, the other person finally paid AAA AND the remainder 2 weeks of car rental to me.
Second Car accident: A huge rock fell 20 feet in front of my car driving on Highway 18 (2 lane windy road on a cliff) up to Big Bear. Due to the oncoming car in the other lane and the lack of a median due to the snow, I had to slow down and hit/go over the rock. It took out most of the parts under my car including the oil pan. I drove about 60 more feet to a pull out so I would not block all traffic and my engine seized at that moment. Initially, AAA said I was 49% at fault for my engine seizing and would not cover most of the accident. With 2 more phone calls, AAA then covered 100% of the accident, paid me EXACTLY what my car was worth within 1 week, and I went to buy a new car.
Needless to say, with about 20 minutes more work, you can get your way. Just don't settle for what the adjuster says thinking that is the best you'll get!!

Strength:

The road side assistance until they messed that up as well.

Weakness:

They are a horribly dysfunctional company and I plan on reporting them to the inurance comissioner.

I was quoted a price for auto insurance of about $650.00 for six months of coverege. I was required to pay the bulk of that for the first two months and each month my payment would go down. Just before my first payment was due I recieved a notice of cancelation do to the fact that I had a suspended license five years prior. The suspended license was the result of a failure to appear caused by a traumatic family event and was dismissed by the judge at my next court appearence. I brought my abstracts to my agent along with a check for my next months insurance which he gladly accepted and cashed. About a week later I recieved a check back with another notice of cancelation. Which was bad enough but on top of that my check was ten dollars short for a processing fee. When I called my agent he informed me that AAA does not insure anyone that has ever had a suspended license in there entire life for any reason regardless of the judges decision. I was very upset I had just payed over three hundred dollars for two months of auto insurance but, there was nothing I could do. So I went to Farmers and have been a happy driver ever since. But that wasn't the last time I would be burned by AAA just this weekend my car broke down and I needed to have it towed to the dealship to be repaired. I called my AAA towing service (I have no idea why I kept my towing service after all the problems, but I did) and they informed me that I did not pay my annual dues for road side assistance. After several phone calls it was finally determined that I did pay my dues. When someone called me at work the end of May saying if I renew today then there will be no problem and I will continue to have coverage. So I did so using my check card having the seventy dollars taken directly out of my checking account. I then called back the towing service they agreed to tow my car and informed me to call member services during the week. Well after speaking to several more rude people it was determined by them that they were not going to cover the towing of my car on Sunday. They said they mailed me back the money which they have had for over six weeks on Friday. Well today is Tuesday and still no check. I wonder if they will take a processing fee for this one too. They never sent me anything notifing me of the canceled membership, they have my address because I got my new card. I have no idea what this company's problem is but if I were you and you decided to do bussiness with them I would watch every move they make I have been shafted twice by this company I can't imagine how many other people have been shorted and mistreated as well. I think it is strange that after six weeks of them knowing that my membership was canceled two days before I use the service they mailed my money back to me. But if they mailed it out on Friday shouldn't I have gotten it by Tuesday? I wonder if maybe they weren't just planing on keeping the money thinking I would never use my service any how? Who knows but this company will nickle and dime you to death. You should not buy insurance through them unless you have alot of time on your hands.

Strength:

Excellent coverage. They're prepared for pretty much everything.

Weakness:

I find it more expensive that it should be. It's like your paying just to have a little AAA sticker on your car.

Um, I'm sure you could find a better deal if you look.

Strength:

- Affordable
- Customer Service

Weakness:

- Don't offer ful coverage for vehicles 10 years or older

I have never gotten into an accident with them (knock on wood), but everything has been smooth. They offer great rates, unmatched by anyone else. As far as the other negfative reviews, truthfully, I don't care about the other person involved in the car wreck. AS long as my company takes good care of ME, everything is good. They have been a pleasure to deal with and very helpful.
