Strength:

Definitely the sound, seems like it is getting louder all the time. Makes my 400 sound like it should.

Weakness:

Have not noticed any so far.

Awesome sound, I haven't done any tests on it but it seems to be helping hp, torque, and mileage.

Strength:

Very nice sound, 100 times louder than stock. No really noticable performance improvements, but wasn't getting muffler for that reason. Just wanted to make lots of noise.

Weakness:

None to speak of. I love the sounds that come from it. As soon as the mechanic fired up the engine, I couldn't help but smile. :)

I love it. I've read all sorts of reviews on Mustangs, and big F-350's and can only imagine how loud they are on a "powerful" car. For only having a 100hp car, it sure does purrr now. Very nice product.

Strength:

Everything!!

Weakness:

Can't find any for our use!

First reason why we spent around $450 was the fact that we had all new pipes put in from the headers back including the mufflers. You may think this sounds weird to have something like this on an old "grocer getter" but it's a head turner!!

We've got 2.5" straight pipes running straight back off of 3" headers all the way back with the mufflers somewhere in the middle. The pipes take a turn right behind each wheel because they couldn't go straight back. The sound is then punched out of a 2.25" tip that just fires the sound out.

The first time we fired the car up after they were installed we were sorta worried because it was a lot louder than we wanted. As the carbon began building up in the mufflers, the sound really mellowed out and it just turned into that deep rumble that you want out of your muscle car. People absolutely love the way that the old wagon sounds and they just stare when we pull into local car shows.

I would absolutely recommend these mufflers for anyone that has a larger engine and wants that nice deep rumbling muscle car sound!!

The sound is AWESOME!! Have the exhaust exiting straight out the mufflers behind the cab. At idle, sounds great; at full throttle, it sounds heavenly. Has that race quality sound, a sound you can feel. there's no talking if i have the sliding rear window open, can't hear it anyway.

Weakness:

none.

Ordered them from Summmit for $55 a piece. Got the 2 1/2". Installed them my self the next day. Had bought a pair of used headers for $25, installed about a foot and half of pipe on either side, clamped on the mufflers and started her up. The sound that came out of that pipe was everything i was hoping for. Also noticed quite a power increase at takeoff. i have 31" mud tires on the truck, used to just kinda accelerate, now i can get those back wheels spinning. also added a K&N filter. WOULD DEFINETLY RECOMMEND THESE FOR EVERYBODY. Just bought a '99 mustang 3.8 V6; I am planning on dual exhaust and some more flows. THE FLOWMASTER SOUND JUST CANT BE BEAT.

UNBELIEVABLE SOUND!!!!!!!!!!! This muffler sounds so good I can't believe it. I've only got a V6 but I sound better than most V8's. There was a noticeable torque increase in the midrange and 1 mpg increase as well. I would definately recommend this to anyone looking for a very loud, aggressive muffler with a muscle car sound.

Weakness:

might be a little loud for some people.

I would very highly recommend this muffler to anyone looking for that powerful sound with a nice power increase at a very low price. The sound simply can't be beat...I've heard glasspacks, straight pipes, turbo mufflers....nothing can compare to flowmaster. Go and get one now!!

stock...much better flow with cleaner sound and more power...looks nicer too.

Strength:

Deep mellow tone with impressive response.

Weakness:

Scares neighbors if pushing high RPMs late at night!

I had Flowmaster on my Mustang 5.0. The aggressive tones and power gain were well worth the cost, especially with the addition of an after market
Flowmaster exhaust system. These are the only after market mufflers I have used however I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Music to my ears!

Strength:

Very nice rumble while idle, although at about 2000 rpm's the beast is unleashed! It ran me about $256.00 and that's after taxes. I think it's worth the great looks and sound. After the install I instantly noticed a mild performance increase. I'd say you should expect around a 5% increase in pickup after installation. This is the first modification I've made so far.

Weakness:

none.

Also, I hate those import coffee can ass cars I see everywhere. The Flowmaster 40 series slaps them in the face everytime you hit the gas. Other chevrolet owners even let me into traffic more now ;). My new exhaust sets my truck apart from the other s-10's without a doubt. I love it. GM PRIDE!

Strength:

At a cost of $50, plus $50 for custom pipes and $30 for stainless tip, flowmaster is the god of all exaust systems, sound wise anyway, but hey, who really buys an aftermarket perf. muffler and expects huge power gains from a muffler alone? I have the 4.3L 4x4 version V6 (Yes, it is different then the 4x2 version)at low rpm, (around 2000) it sounds much like the 5.3L with stock exaust, at that same rpm level, while in 4 wheel drive, it sounds so much like a V8, people always ask me, "Since when do S10's come with the 5.3L?" and when I tell em it's the 4.3L, they can't believe it till I pop the hood and show em. And at wide open throttle, I sometimes feel like I'm driving my girlfriends Z28 the sound is so great. And then, after I bolted on a Vortech Supercharger, along with Hypertech Programming, sometimes I forget I'm driving a V6 4x4. I could go on and on about how great flowmaster exaust products are, but I think I've said enough to get my point across..

Weakness:

A little too quiet at idle, but hey, it's still a V6 no matter what I do to it..
Only other thing wrong is the fact that it's a little heavy, but that doesn't matter to me, I need somethin tough and durable, but if you drive a stang or f-body, the weight probably matters to you, especially if you run a true dual exaust system. However, I highly doubt that anyone expects a muffler with a lifetime guarantee to be light-weight:)

The best, period, unless you drive a Ferrari or other exotic car, nothing compares to Flowmaster...
They make any V8 sound better than ever, and for ANYONE with a V6, especially large displacement V6's, trust me, I've tried everything out there, I've shed blood, sweat, and many cuts on my hands to find the best, and Flowmaster is it, nothing will make a V6 engine sound deeper, smoother, or more high-perfomance oriented.
For all you 4-banger owners, you shouldn't even bother putting ANY perf. muffler or exaust system on your car unless you put a supercharger, or other form of really beneficial, really expensive, type of perf. intake solution on to go with the new exaust, an exaust alone, ANY exaust, will do nothing but make your 4-cylinder sound like a 2500-3500 pound crotch rocket, which is not a good thing,(If you think that's a good thing, or you think your car sounds cool like that, believe me when I say that it doesn't, and the heads that turn are laughing at you, not impressed.) If you don't want to lay down the cash for a supercharger or other form of intake, then don't even waste your money for an exaust alone, get a new stereo or a pair of subs or something instead.
I recommend Flowmaster to ANYONE who drives ANYTHING with a V6 or V8.
4-cylinder owners will be unhappy after spending the money to only find that their car now sounds like thier grandmas coffee can being cleaned with a spoon in the morning. The 40 series muffler wasn't even designed with a 4-cylinder in mind at any point. Borla is the 4-cylinder owners muffler of choice, trust me, I have a Borla on my 96 Avenger 2.0L, the flowmasters on that car sounded like a kids toy, but that's because, like I said, 4-cylinders weren't considered in the design of this particular muffler.

Similar Products Used:

I've tried them all, stock, dynomax, glasspacks, gibson, no muffler at all, even BORLA!!! I have a garage full of mufflers, and none of them compare or make my truck sound harder, then the flowmaster 40 series. I tried the 3 chamber flowmaster too, not bad, but tooooo quiet for my tastes...
