Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler Mufflers

Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler Mufflers

DESCRIPTION

The most aggressive-sounding street and strip muffler in the Flowmaster product line. The 40 Series generates a powerful, aggressive sound outside the vehicle. If you are looking for the traditional Flowmaster sound, the 40 Series offers more of it than any other muffler. The 40 Series generates interior resonance within the vehicle as well, so if you want to really hear your exhaust system inside the vehicle as well as outside it, the 40 Series is for you.

Strength:

more exhaust flow, engine breathes better.

Weakness:

none at the moment!!!

owner of a 84 buick regal, non turbo V6, she came with a stock 305 4brl chevy, sweet! dude! ha! anyway, still running stock manifolds and single exhaust, no catalytic converter(yuck). had a stock muffler, sounded ok but when WOT the muffler sounded like a rice burner(ha). so opted for a Flowmaster series 40, would have gotten an 80 series but chose the single inlet/outlet so no more mods. just an easy bolt on! thumbs up Flowmaster! and sounds quiet at idle! and thought there would be loud interior sound? hardly any!!! again go with the flow(s)!!! ha!

That Flowmaster tone! Everyone has tried to duplicate it but nobody has mastered it like Flowmaster. Sturdy muffler and looks nice.

Weakness:

None

I love the tone but I have had them for over 6 months now and they are still not very loud unless you are very high in the rpm zone. Can't say that I gained much if any horsepower or gas mileage.

Strength:

I purchased the flowmaster exhaust because every one I know thinks that it gave the best performance. I have had it for 2 months and i have seen a big improvement in the low and highend power. It also gets about 60 miles better to a tank of gas and the sound of it is great.

Weakness:

nothing

If i could give this a rating between 1 and 10 for the best exhaust, i would give it a big 10.

Model Reviewed: 1988 Trans Am GTA

Strength:

I like the new sound i get when i accelerate, deep, hollow rumble, i feel more torque power to smoke those tires or to take an import at the light. Even in the cold i have my windows down just to hear my exhaust.

Weakness:

At an idle it sounds similar to the stock exhaust, was going to put on an 80 series and i think i would not have heard much of difference with that. Thought the 40 series would have been a little louder. Sounds very similar to my friends stock 442 exhaust.

I have not had this 40 series muffler that long, but definetly good choice to go with flowmaster. Nice sound and performance added. I really dont know how it would sound on a 4 cylinder. My Trans Am is definetly now more of a head turner to see whats coming. My car used to eat gas up like crazy, now it is better, good for me. I went for this muffler even though the 80 series is made for camaros/firebirds, they did not have the right size for my car. So i got the 40. I am glad, i dont think i would have heard much of difference with the 80 series. THANX FLOWMASTER

Great sounding, makes my 3.3L Intrepid sound like a 5.0L Mustang.

Weakness:

Gave me a price quote of 99.00 installed but the muffler set up was screwed up so they I had to pay 20.00 for custom pipes and installation. Better acceleration and an awesome sounding muffler for a car as heavy as my intrepid. Am going to put one on my 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport I like it so much.

Strength:

You can't really hear it at idle, but it sounds pretty deep and loud when your crusing around 2500rpm.

Weakness:

It could be a little louder. I noticed that it took quite a long time for it to break in and get descently loud, about a year!!!

I would recommend it, but don't be expecting a big increase in sound for a while. With this muffler and a K&N filter, i probably gained not much more than 5 hp.

This is a solid exhaust system that will certainly turn some heads. I got it installed for $400 with new piping, and I can feel the power. You can set off alarms with this baby. I have a 1994 Ford F250 351W 5.8L V8. When you open it up, you can really hear it roar.

Weakness:

None, I love the Flowmaster sound

I would recommend this to anyone that wants a sound that demands respect.
