Borla Cat-Back System Cat back Exhaust Systems

Borla Cat-Back System Cat back Exhaust Systems

DESCRIPTION

BORLA exhaust is built of aircraft-quality T-304 stainless steel -- stainless inside and out, not mild steel, not aluminum, not coated aluminum, not just wrapped with stainless on the outside for show. Coating techniques, such as aluminizing, can somewhat prolong the life of mild steel, but coatings suffer at the weld points. And, comparing aluminized steel to T-304 stainless steel is like comparing gold-plated metal to solid gold! T-304 stainless steel has the highest chromium content, making it the most resistant to corrosion and therefore the most desirable material for a long-lasting exhaust system. Note: Only the flanges are not stainless. Available for most all popular US, Japanese and European car applications.

Strength:

Excellent quality stainless steel. Fit great but it's for 1993-96 Saturn (mine was a 1992) coupes so I had to cut off the flange and weld to my cat instead of bolt on but the rest of it bolted up nicely. Sounds nice. Not too too loud but a nice burbling american v8 sound. Ok sorta not really.

Weakness:

They don't make them anymore ): I wanted one for my "new" Saturn but couldn't get it.

$435 and worth it. However you can't get them for Saturn cars anymore. SORRY.

I have the Pacesetter cat-back on my "new" 1996 Saturn SC2 now which fits and is bent nicely but the aluminized steel is cheap and probably won't outlive the 3 year warranty. Borla stainless will outlast the rest of the car for sure. It was actually on my "old" 1992 Saturn SC when it was totalled ): but I wasn't able to get it off before they hauled it away.

Excellent sound, invincible stainless steel, better than OEM fit and finish.

Weakness:

For anyone who would like to get a great overall performance enhancer for your vehicle a cat-back exhaust is one of the simplest and best bang-for-the-buck upgrades and Borla produces probably the finest one you can buy. I immediately noticed an improvement in throttle response, and fuel economy (approx 1mpg). Now this is a heavy vehicle so I didn't expect to be racing sports cars, but I did gain noticeable torque gains which translated to easier climbing hills and more smoother cruise control on long trips. The new exhaust tone is excellent, not too loud or abnoxious but still noticeable by others. The square intercooled tip also is a classy touch at the rear.

I've had the exhaust in my Explorer now for over three years and it still looks and performs like new. I was skeptical that an exhaust would keep so well in the damp west coast Canadian climate, but Borla has certainly outperformed. Even throwing mud, dirt and water at it off-road, or the wet winter and spring, and warm summers! Expensive, but the quality and performance delivers. Highly recommended for any vehicle owner wanting a quality performance enhancer.

The borla cat back system is a very nice piece because it provides a nice tone with noticiable performance gains. My only problem with this system is that the price is very expensive compared to the other cat back systems on the market. However the borla system is made of out a dependible steel and is worth the extra money if you live in a cold climate where rust is a concern. Overall, besides the price, this system is the best on the market.

Materials are first class along with workmanship. Welds are flawless and everything fit together perfectly. Stainless Steel (rust protection).
Great Deep Sound (not too loud)

Weakness:

Price

I think this product is a little too expensive. Yes, it's a quality product, but I'd say a reasonable price should be around $400. This is Borla, so you're also paying for the name.

To fully take advantage of this exhaust, it's better to install an intake and/or a hi-flow cat. This is a "cat-back" system, so the piping after the catalytic converter is less restrictive. The cat itself is stock, so it's still restrictive. An after market hi-flow cat or y-pipe along with the exhaust system will produce greater gains.

Paid $550 and did the install myself. A good overall product.

Strength:

Vicious sound, truly monsterous. My exhaust tone turns heads daily, and when I stomp on it...Ka-Boom!!! Sounds louder than the American Thunder flowmasters that I put on my car originally.

Weakness:

The borla catback costs more than the flowmasters, but the purchase was well worth it. I never regret replacing the Flowmasters.

I paid $625.00 for my Borla catback, and $700.00 installed, out the door. I would definitely recommend the borla catback for Trans Am', Formula's, Camaro Z28, or Camaro SS. I haven't found one disappointed owner. I learned the hard way by buying the flowmasters first. The flows were respectable, but did not give me the aggressive tone that I wanted to hear. I loved the borla's from the first time I heard my engine start up. When I take off, you can hear it a couple of blocks away. I run it without any restrictor plates for maximum sound, and there is no competition.

Similar Products Used:

The borla's have a slightly higher pitch than the flowmasters, but sounds throatier. The borla's have a more penetrating, attention grabbing note.

Didn't come with instructions, but its basically insert tab A into slot B simple assy.

I payed $500 for it shipped, easy to install. Excellent construction, super looks, easy enough for anyone to install, sounds great and has good performance. I would definately tell anyone to purchase this exhaust for good performance with price to match.

Perfect fit, great sound and good looking tip. Combine with K&N air intake for improved throttle response and noticeable power increase. Sound gets better as system gets "burned in".

Weakness:

Wife says sound is a little "boomy" with top up. Sounds great to me.

$300.00 [mail order] three-plus years ago. Installed myself in less than one hour [including jacking up car and removing factory exhaust]. Bolts directly to factory hangers [on 1.6 liter Miata]. Has never rattled, banged against bottom of car or come loose. Highly recommended.

Paid $1000 for Borla Cat-Back. Paid about $400 for installation which is very time consuming on a Viper. The sound is much deeper, with a nice rumble. Very happy with the choice. Makes the car sound like it should have from the factory. Recommended.

what i liked most about my borla cat back system was the sound. you just dont get a truly high end sound from other manufactures like you do with borla. not to mention the horse power. also you cant beat that million mile warranty. with others like flowmaster only carring a 1 year warranty, who do you think has more confidence in their products? i think that says it all.

Weakness:

none

i paid about $740 for my system installed. yes you can buy a aluminized system for about half of the cost, but two years down the road i wont have to worry about replacing my exhaust like the aluminized products out their. my exhaust will still look good and i wont have any rusty old tailpipes hanging out the back. i highly recommend borla, it was well worth the investment.

Similar Products Used:

flowmaster- its ok for an aluminized product, but the sound quality just cant compare with borla.
