Polk Audio EX Series Subwoofers
Polk Audio EX Series Subwoofers

Strength:
a whole lotta bloody thump, especially for the money
Weakness:
none as far as I can discern Tremendous deep bass. I have a pair of polk ex602 coaxials which were excellent for the tweeters but horrible for the bass. well, these polk thumpers make up for the difference. I have a pair lf 10 inchers in the back of my car in an pair of ported boxes. I had listened to a pair of JL subwoofers and they were better but not for the difference in cost when compared to my polks. highly recommended. Similar Products Used: JL |

Price, SQ, quality, boom, did i mention the price,
Weakness:
umm... lets see. in rock the lows sound funny but that is not very bad. wow. simply wow. i got these for 80 bucks a pop at circuit city, just kinda a temp subs till i could afford some dxs. i don't think that i will now that i have heard these suckers. they boom harder than most subs aroudn and evenat higher price ranges. the SQ is unbelievable, superb accuracy and responce. they are awsome subs for the money. even if they cost more, they would still be worth the money. i love these subs, i ahve installed many different subs and these are by far the best for the buck, they sound best in a bandpass by far. These subwoofers will out-perform any sub's in its class. Hell...it even out performs very exprensive sub's.
Weakness:
Nothing If you want subs that won't take a chunk out of your wallet and still have the same (or more) bass than other system's...these are the sub's for you. But if you are a rich kid and want to show off all your expensive sub's to your friends b/c they look good and are expensive...don't get mad when I come by and blow you away. I have a MTX 2200 amp putting 280 watts to each. One of my friend's had 2 12" MTX 6000 subs and he siad his were better than mine. So...he got in my car...I turned my sub's up...and my mirror shook off. Then he put his in my bandpass box...we did the same thing and all the mirror did was shake but it never came off. And then we parked my car in a field and played mine...then we walked until we could barley hear the bass....then we measured the distance...it was 325 yards until I could barley hear the bass....we did the same with his and went 287 yards. The bass is stronger and louder....what more can you ask for from a sub?I am starting a web site w/ pic's of my car w/ my rims, pic's of my cd player, sub's,bandpass box (w/ 15 in. black light inside) and my mtx 2200 amp. It will have message boards, polls, forums, reviews that you can post,a picture section for your car/sterio equiptment, and much much more...come check it out i about a month...by then it should be done. http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/audio1 Similar Products Used: JBL LC,MTX 6000,JL-none of these come close to the bass and sq that these subs have |

I had some JBL subs in my car but i was pushing them too much. Now I put two 12's in a dual 1.25ft box with 4"x12" ports and now when i wash my car at the carwash...the carwash actually shakes... roof, lights, and all.WOW
Weakness:
they hit low freq. tracks hard but hard rock music needs more volume they are very much worth the money Similar Products Used: better than most i heard |

Strength:
Warm, accurate bass and can make "objects in mirror appear blurry". Don't need a ton of power to run them either or huge box volumes.
Weakness:
If I find any, I'll let you know but can't think of any now. I paid $120/pair of 10" at Circuit City when I was down in Florida. With exchange on the dollar ($CDN>$US) and taxes, I still couldn't beat this deal up in the Great White North. I have these babies in a sealedbox of 1.3 cu.ft. with a 2 ch. Alpine (100 watts/ch.) in the back of my '89 IROC. These subs bring a new meaning for IROC to I ROCK!!! And these are only 10" woofers. Definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a good sub. In fact, to find a difference between these and a higher end sub, I think you would spend QUITE a sum of $$$ and I think the sound difference would be negligable -unless your a dog! Similar Products Used: Phoenix Gold QX10. It compares very well with my PG-qx10 hooked to an MTX Road Thunder amp. I've always been very happy with this setup in my truck and hoped the Polks would fair just as well. |

Strength:
They sound great! Great sounding bass rattles the internal organs!
Weakness:
How it makes the rest of my system sound. Makes my head unit sound like crap. Bought for $120 for both at Circuit City, buy one get one free. Couldn't be happier. Powered with a Kenwood eXcelon amp in a sealed enclosure they sound great. I can't wait until I get a better head unit so I can really crank them up. Plus, at only 75 watts each, they pound pretty hard. Great buy. Definately recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing one (or two!). Similar Products Used: None personally but I have heard friends' systems. Sound at least as good, in some cases better, than any of the others and they paid MUCH more than I. |

Price and Performance
Weakness:
none They are great subs for the money. I paid 200 dollars for both at Circuit City. They play deep and accurate as any I have heard(that includes JL Audio and MTX). They are definitely SQ subs but they can give some thump when asked. I have mine sealed in a .85cu ft box. I am giving them about 200- 250 watts rms and they hit hard. They NEVER bottom out. I have no complaints. I would definitely recommend these to anybody who is even thinking about getting them. Similar Products Used: Kenwood 12", Kicker Impulse 12" |

This is the best of the "budget" subwoofers i have ever had the priveledge of using. I had a single 12" in a sealed box that measured out to be around 1.5 cu.ft. and it just pounded. It had good SPL as well as db performance.
Weakness:
kinda lacking that "umph" that i disired i paid $100... it didn't have a SN, but i didn't care. At the time i didn't really know what i was looking for from a sub.... but the Polk just kinda did everything i wanted it to do. I ran it on a couple different amps ranging from an old Sentrek, to a HiFonics, and it sounded great on both applications Similar Products Used: Orion Cobalt 10's, Infinity Reference series 10's, fo rthe money... the Infinitys were the best value ($50 each)... but for some reason i couldn't kill the polk ;) i tried... but i couldn't kill it |

2000 EX10 Series 2
Strength:
I bought two 10s($60 each) along with a bandpass box($90) and put everything together. They sound great! The speakers pick up everything from tight 90Hz bass to pounding 20Hz bass. No matter what kind of music I play the bass comes through clear. I say that these speakers are a great buy and worth being invested in.
Weakness:
The only negative thing about this is that I originally wanted the 12s but they would have taken up too much space in the trunk. I paid $120 for the pair and wish that I had gotten four more so that I could have put 4 10s in my Honda Civic Hatchback. These speakers are recommended to anyone that seeks good clean bass at a price that won't hurt the wallet. Similar Products Used: Planet Audio 12" Sub did not have the pounding bass I needed for my music. |
