2001 S12L7
Strength:
Small Encloser size, large surface area, mean looking(especially with the grills on), hit pretty hard, sound pretty good.
Weakness:
Took a while to break in, not the best SPL, and not the best clarity. I have 4 of these bad boys, paired to a set of kicker xs100 amps running @ 1ohm. each sub is in a fiberglass enclosure, 2 have 1.06cu-ft the other two have .91. They aren't SPL monsters, and they aren't the cleanest I've heard, but they have the best of both worlds, and you can't beat the enclose size. Overall they hit hard as hell for a 12. I'de pick up a few more, but my electrical system couldn't handle another pair of xs100's those things are monsters.. The only other thing is the L7's see a bit power hungry, I had 1 pair of L7s running with a zr-600 and it wasn't quite enough. a month later I upgraded to what I have now and love it. Strength:
Strong, innovative, more area = more air; incredible sound for a 12 in a sealed box. all i have to say is SMOOTH!
Weakness:
NONE! absolutely nothing, would buy more in a heartbeat! This is a great subwoofer, and is well worth the money. the only subs that compaired to them were my Electro Voice(EV) subs. the Kicker does not hit as hard, but the sound quality and ups and downs take the EV's to school! Great resonses, amazingly small box for the amount of sound. I was so pleased, i restructured my whole system around this sub! A++++ Similar Products Used: EV 12's, MTX 12's, Cerwin Vega 12's, Diamond Audio 12's, Boss Audio 12's (better than all(overall performance)) |

Kiker S12L7
Strength:
Hits very hard, Tight Bass, Great Sound Quality, Unique looks, Likes a lot of power
Weakness:
Likes a lot of power and...um it's kind of heavy I guess I think this is a great sub. It hits very hard and very tight. The sound quality is great but there is a noticeable drop off between it's frequency responses. Oh well, get mid bass speakers if that bothers you. I also think it is a great value. $310 for the sub and the box. I highly recommend this sub to everyone who can afford it and a big amp. (I have a Profile 1200sx and only giving it 450 watts. Sounds great with that.) Similar Products Used: Bazooka Tubes, MTX 4000, Pioneer Band Pass |

Strength:
Tight bass, fits in small places, kicker is stingy with warranty
Weakness:
Expensive, requires a good 500 RMS power to really rock, hard to find a square box to fit sub Very loud tight bass in which requires a tiny box to run in. Unfortunately after a month, my sub decided to give out. I purchased it new on e-bay, so kicker would not honor their warranty without a 'receipt' from a authorized dealer. If you ever blow your sub, just say you got it as a gift and didn't know where it came from. I paid $215 for that lesson. Otherwise, its difficult to find a square box which cost me another $120 from a local store to build. Honestly, just find a Solobaric S12d, and you'll be just a happy with your purchase. Similar Products Used: JL audio 12W6, Solobaric S12D. Honestly, I was just as happy with my Solobaric S12D. JL Audio W6s are always nice, but this sub sounded a bit louder and handles more power. |

Yes woofers are loud when low and med volume
Weakness:
Build quality, I must say that these sub woofers really disappointed me. Sounds good, but can handle the abuse. Blew 1 with in 4 days. I work for well known local shop installed 4 12L7's each pair is powered by 800a2 with caps on a customers Tahoe. They are loud but lack sound quality. They can do not handle the abuse well. Weak sides and strichings.. Used optimal sealed box size of 1ft. Phoenix cap's ,streetwires etc. Sent back to still water for replacement. Sound quality eciplse alum/titanium SPL go with RF's Similar Products Used: it's an average subwoofer and above average cost |

Strength:
very loud bass in ported boxes, high power handling, built rock solid
Weakness:
lose some sq when putting them in ported boxes, but the gain in spl is well worth it very good subs, definately worth the money. for everyone on here that said they blew these subs with like 400 wrms going to them, i'd say that's your own fault and u can't blame the product for your stupidity. i have over 850wrms going to each one of my 12's and i haven't had a problem with them yet. and i'm pretty hard on my subs, i'm hitting 152.3 with 2 12's. so if your subs are blowing with only like 400 watts going to them, you better check your install cause there's no way these subs would blow with only 400 watts going to them, it's your install not the subs Similar Products Used: mtx5000's, hits a lot harder and cleaner |

The damn things ROCK!! They simply blow away the Punch 15's i had in my Blazer before. I'm pushing these babies with a Soundstream Reference 700s bridged 2ohms mono. All i have to say is DAMN DAMN DAMN! :o) i love Kicker!
Weakness:
Umm...what Don't I like about these speakers? Hmm, lets see...NOT A DAMN THANG, MAAAN! (wish i had 2 more..lol) TRUST ME--you like BASS--get these damn subs--im telling you--you wont regret it!!! BUT LET ME SAY THIS: DO NOT go out and buy these subs and then go out and use some cheap a$$ amp, ie, Pyramid, Profile, Rockwood, Mobile Authority!! Get yourself a nice, POWERFUL ass amp that can REALLY kick the wattage out! I personally love Soundstream--if you like em too..send me an email and I can show you were to get some Soundstream amps cheaper! These Solobarics cost some money--but you know how James Brown said it: "It pays the cost to be the boss!!" Similar Products Used: i had some cheap ass Pyramid 12's (hey, dont hate, i know they sucked..lol) |

Kicker S12L7
Strength:
Small enclosure, high SPL, great power handling, good SQ at high SPL.
Weakness:
Somewhat high price for 1 subwoofer but pretty reasonable if you consider that it often outperforms 2 of the other subs. I just had one of these installed in my 2000 Camaro and it blew my mind. I had the JL Audio box loaded with 3 10W0's powered by a Alpine 757. I ran the JLs and the L7 on the RTA right after I bought the new Kicker sub. I did no tweaking bewteen runs. My JLs (which I've been impressed with as well) first and got a high of 141.2 (outlaw) SPL. I ran the single S12L7 and scored a 144.2 (outlaw). Twice as loud... I'm going back to buy two more as soon as the Kicker DX1400 is released. If you have the power (350 rms or more) I would highly recommend this product. My Alpine 757 is no monster amp but it does well with the single sub. The dual 4 ohm voice coils let me get the most out of the amp. If you invest in one of these I would also recommend a capacitor, especially if you have an unregulated amp like my Alpine. My lights never dimmed with the JL 10's but they do now!! Power hungry to say the least... Well worth the money though. Similar Products Used: JL12W6 |

Strength:
The loudest single 12 I have ever heard, I have one of them and it hit at 147.4 db at a competition soundoff using a zapco ag750 amp.
Weakness:
none I had 2 JL 12W6's and this just beat the hell out of it both running on the same amp. The 2 JL only hit 139 db and its not responsive, This is the best sub I have heard yet and it saves alot of room, I'm using a 1.1 cubft box. Similar Products Used: JL12W6 |
