Strength:

They respond very exelent to medium volume thundering rolling bass (not Punchy) l

Weakness:

Weak side, blew out 2 woofers. You hear bass but not feel..

I have had my system for less than 1 month and I have already blew 2 woofers during 2 separate occasions. I am running a punch 1000a
they woofers are good if blum, but to slump you have to skip these over.

Strength:

Very small box. Lots of SPL. Pretty good sound. Very good response at low frequencies.

Weakness:

Power hungry little b*stards...

I replaced two very good tens with one of these bad boys. I was a little upset at first, because the little 300W Kenwood amp I had really couldn't push this baby very well. So I didn't get the performance I had expected. After a couple of weeks, I decided to go and get an Orion HCCA 250r. When I hooked it up, this subwoofer really came to life. The one 12 hits harder and much lower than the two tens I had in there before. I would definately recommend these subs to anyone that is looking for a lot of bass in a small enclosure. However, if it is sound quality you are looking for, you will need to run this thing in an oversized box. If you graph out the response of this sub, you are looking at about 1.25 ~ 1.5 cubic feet in order to get a nice flat line. You lose a little of the SPL and you have to give up a little more trunk space, but this sub will sound great if you built the right box for it. In the recommended enclosure size (.88 ~ 1.1) you will get a fairly nasty peak at around 80 ~ 120 Hz, but it will hit very hard. Also, as far as power is concerned, you need a lot, and this 12 will take a lot. It handles the CLEAN 800W RMS that the Orion HCCA 250r throws out at 1 Ohm with no problem.

Similar Products Used:

JL Audio 12W6, Pioneer IMPP, Hart Professional, Atomic, SL 12", MTX. The sound quality of the sub fits somewhere in the middle here. The SPL is well above most of them, with only the JL's and the Atomic coming close but still behind.

Pretty Loud

Weakness:

NOt loud enough for the money

I just got these installed and i am running it off a alpine v12 1507 (i have 2 12" L7s) and i was really really dissapointed with them. I thought they would be alot louder. SHould have got somethin else. I swear my rockford XLCs 10"s were almost as loud. My system needs to be tweeked around.

Wow These things start to pound really loud.

Weakness:

After i got my system re adjusted my head hurted from being in the car with the volume up

OK i know i juss trashed these subs before but this is why, When the guy who hooked my subs up to my v12 1507 did the install, the jackass made the amp run at a god damn .8 ohm load!!!! thats why they sounded like sh!t. Well to make a long story short i had they re wired to a 4ohm load and wow they pouond really loud. I love the way my new system sounds. There about 2.5 times louder then my XLCs. These subs kick some serious bass out. make sure u bring it to someone whho knows what there doing though! they will get loud

Strength:

Very loud, moves a lot of air. Decently Clean bass out of it. Hits hard.
Overall a decent speaker. Sounds like its more thant just a 12" Sub...

Weakness:

Blew 2 of them!! good thing it was under warranty both times. Am running Rockford Fosgate Power 500 to it. They both siezed up the voice coil I am pretty sure what they said.

For $400 With a box I dont think its worth it. I would say $300 at most.
You can get these for $200 without warranty, but be carefully they blow easy. If it was $200 with warranty I think it would be killer deal.

Strength:

UNIQUE WOOFERS, VERY HIGH SPL, GOOD WIRING COMBINATIONS, GOOD SIZED ENCLOSURE, GOOD POWER HANDLING.

Weakness:

NOT EFFICIENT ENOUGH, DOES NOT HANDLE ENOUGH ABUSE.

PRICE PAID $400, WOULD RECOMMEND IT BUT VALUE FOR MONEY WOULD GO FOR 12 INCH PIONEER BASS BULLET(TSW1200C OR TSW1200DVC)AFTER HAVING 8 12 INCH BASS BULLETS AND THRASHING THEM DAILY IN THE CAR I WOULD STICK TO PIONEER,
HAVING CRACKED AN L7 CONE I THINK THE CONE IS TOO RIGID.IF U WANT GOOD BASS AND HAVE A SMALL SPACE ONLY I WOULD RECOMEND THE SOLOBARIC.THESE WOOFERS ARE BEST USED FOR PEOPLE WITH HEAPS OF POWER AND WHO WANT SPL.
HAVING USED A ZR1000 KICKER AMP ON THE L7'S I THINK IT IS THE BEST AMP TO USE IN THIS SENARIO.

Strength:

It is a new design I will give Kicker credit for that but thats all thats good for these line.

Weakness:

Terrible stitching and very weak. Weak voice coil.

We had 2 of these in our shop as store models and honestly they are garbage. We have sent both back to Kicker to be restitched. The same problem Kicker had at the CES show in california where their techs were restitching the sub. I feel bad that people are saying this sub was blown from overpower because it's impossible. The voice coils may have burned out which they are having problems with but thats not a blown speaker. Kicker should have worked out all the bugs on these before they released them to the public. I wouldn't recommend this sub to anyone for a few reasons it's junk, and it's way overpriced. If you pay $400 for these you are dumb because yoou can find dealers that have them for sale for $200. For $400 find a Kove dealer online. They do hold 750 rms but they will blow away any sub on the market. Thats why they are top of the line.

Strength:

well i love the cleaness of the bass and the dvc....and being able to have it in a smaller enclosure and still get a big sound out of them is a big plus

Weakness:

well after having it for a short time i blew it... i was powering with a powerclass p2300 but i though.. they could handle up to 750watts??? that really pissed me off.. but at least i have it back.... so far its been doin alright

i paid close to $400 i would recomend it.. but if u could i would buy 2 .. hehe gotta have the killer bass

Similar Products Used:

well compared to the ppi 12's i used to have.. i have a whole lot more bass responce to the music i listen to.. and i think it sounds louder.. than the ppi's did in the bandpass i had them in

Strength:

The Unique shape and Looks, Small Box size, Clean, Tight Bass.

Weakness:

One of them blew after only a week of use

Well I had the Round Solobaric D series before i purchased these. I was very satisfied with them except for the fact that they were not DVC. So I opted for the L7 solobarics because of its uniqueness, and DVC capabilites. I ran the D's and run the L7's with a rockford Power 800a2. I gave the L7's about 400 watts each and after a week one blew on me.. Im still waiting for warranty to get back to me on that one. Well as far as comparing these to the Last years solobarics, these were better. When i put them in I immediately noticed a slight SPL increase. The L7 did not lose any sound quality, and produced musical, deep, tight bass. These were quite a bit louder than last years because of the increase in cone area as well as Xmax. Well I like these, even better than the old solobarics, but one did blow up on me....so i cant give it a five. Ive heard better subwoofers than this. If you are looking for a mix of SPL/ And Sound Quality I would go with the Eclipse Aluminum Subs, or the Alumapro Alchemy's. But you wont be dissapointed with these Subwoofers.

Strength:

Unusual styling, solid build

Weakness:

Won't fit in old box, need to cut square hole!

Sound quality wise they are very good. Not boomy, very good extension and weight, and they hit hard. Not an exceptionally efficient speaker, but they don't need a huge amp either.

In reply to the moron at the top of the page, "You need to install this woofer into the recommended box size or it will not work properly. Thats why it called a 'recommended' box size"

It constantly amazes me to read reviews written by people who quite clearly have no idea about good sound and only the barest grasp of installation skills. A crap woofer installed by a top installer is always going to sound better than a high quality woofer installed by a knuckle dragging moron, ie our correspondent from the top of the page.
