The kicker solo-baric is an amazing speaker when the other components of the system are capable of keeping up with it. First of all, you need tons of power. Its merely a consequence of the remarkably small boxes they require. I wouldn't ever worry about overpowering one though, I've got a 15" running on a rockford fosgate punch 225, which is rated quite conservatively at 450 watts when bridged, and I'm positive that the speaker could take much more. Secondly, you need TONS of mid-bass backing it up. The solo-barics are designed to play low... REALLY LOW! I have never heard any system in any house, club, or car that can drop like the 15" solo-baric. The problem is that the higher bass is sacrificed to achieve this. With a properly set up midbass source, the resulting system would play at ungodly volume levels with unreal low bass extension that can extend well into subsonic frequencies.

If you a sub that will blow any sub away, you need to get the Kicker SoloBaric! I have 4 12" solos hooked up to an XS100 amp! All I gotta say is WOW! I went to this compition, and this one car had 4 15" solos with an XS50, it hit 150.9, then this one car came and it had 8 12" Orion NT's with like 3 HCCA amps or whatever they are called, he hit 149.6. This proves how better kicker is then orion! BUY KICKER, high prices but they are worth EVERY PENNY! Trust me! I have spent about $4000 on my system!

Out of about 15 solobaric installs I have heard, I have heard maybe one or two that sounded good. The rest were entirely too boomy, and although it plays loud given plenty of power, the low end still lacked any pizzaz for SQ applications. For what they are asking, you can do better, such as the Crystal CMP-12 or the Image Dynamics IDQ-12 for SQ applications.

I've listened to many systems, and many different types of Subwoofers. The Solo-baric 12" is one of the best of the rest. It plays Loud(Very Loud) at extremely small enclosure size(which means POWER HUNGRY). But the Solo-Baric will take the Power and spit it right out of the cone with DEEP< CLEAN BASS. I currently have 2 12" Kicker Solo-Barics(D) running off a Rockford Fosgate Punch 200.2 and it sounds great. Only hit 138SPL. Thats why i'm stepping up to SOUNDSTREAM's RUBICON1002 which is a 1000 watt amp.(500*2). I'm hoping to hit more lik 141-143. OVER ALL THIS IS A REALLY NICE SUBWOOFER

The kicker solobaric is one of the best subwoofers I have ever heard. If you put them in the right enclosure with enough power, I think they will outperform just about any other in terms of sound quality.

I'm using a 12 inch D-series solo-baric powered by a Kicker ZR 240 amp with a parametric bass module, and a Phoenix Gold 1 farad cap. It produceses unbelievably controlled, low bass that is very pleasing to my ears. My only complaint is that because of college, I can't afford to put another one in my car.

I actually have the Solo-Baric D 2 (S12D2). Mine are 2ohms, thats the only difference, since I prefer Stereo over Mono. Anyways, I am running my 2 12" in 2ohm Stereo from a 98 MTX 2300X amp, and they really do need more power. I think there are better subs out these, even JL Audio has a much more effiecent sub (the JL12W6). I guess if you feed them the power, they may sound better, but to me, they are all boom and no Audiophile Quality SOUND. By the way, you better have some killer 6.5" MidRanges & Tweets, or you won't hear much "music".

I have solobarics in a truckbox being pushed by a punch400a4, and they are the best subs I have owned or even heard. The more then satisfy my appetite for bass, I do need more mid bass. Thats why I might invest in a kicker resolution set. But the 12 in solobaric has put any JL, Rockford, Pioneer, Cerwin Vega, to shame, in a truck box too

In my opinion solo barics are the hardest hitting subs on the market. I have two 12's pushed by a coustic 700 with a coustic crossover and they pound really hard. I hit 141spl.

I have one solo-baric 12" in the Stillwater truck box, with a Sony ES 5026 Amp, which is rated at about 220 X 1 when bridged to mono, which I have it running at. It sounds very good for only one sub... even rivaling other systems with two 12's or two 10's. It is true, however, that it eats power, and doesn't hit mid-bass. Sounds great, but can't afford to get another one, since that would require a bigger amp.
