Kicker S12D8 Subwoofers
Kicker S12D8 Subwoofers

Strength:
I have two solo baric 12s in my 98 jetta. The solos hit hard. They produce very clean bass. The cone is ridged so that there are no worries of something hitting the cone and breaking it. I'm running a Rockford 225.2 amp. Evan though I could use a little more power the can still blast my brains out.
Weakness:
The solos lack mid-bass, but what true system depends on the subs for all the bass? I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend to anyone who likes nice clean bass. The most best thing avout the solos is the small box required to runt them. I paid $225 a pice for my solos. Similar Products Used: Rockford Fosgate Powere DVC 12s |

Strength:
Clean looking, well built, excellent for SQ, plays each note very clean.
Weakness:
could give more in the midbass area Definitely one of the best subs on the market. A little pricey, but if you know the right people a reasonable price can be had. The knock on them was that they are not good for SPL uses, but they can go extremely loud when needed. I am running mine off of 2 Kicker ZR240's, one for each sub, giving them about 375 watts each. They play clean and loud and I highly recommend them. I went from JL W6's to these and I like the Solo's much better. Similar Products Used: JL Audio W6 |

I have 2 solo 12's in a explorer sucking juice though an MTX 2300x and in my opinion these sub woofers kick ass! They hit the lows with blinding force. They do lack Quite a bit on the mid-bass so it is a good idea to invest in some good mid speakers but i would still recomend these subs over any others on the market |

Strength:
Incredible deep pounding bass.
Weakness:
No midbass at all. Only runs up to 100 Hz. I have 6 12" Solobarics running off of 2 ZR1000 amps. Although I had to replace my alternator and add another battery it was worth it. I have been rated at 159.6 Db's. I know they can hit higher if i play with the amps a little. I hope to hit 163 soon. |

Strength:
The solo 12 is the hardest hitting sub I've ever heard!! I will never put any other kind of sub in my car unless it's the kicker solo. I have one in my trunk running off a mono subwoofer amp(Kenwood), it's rated for 240 peak, but I know it's putting out less than that. And this sub still slams, it could use about 200 more watts though, but I'm not complainin'. If you're readin this because your'e debating on what sub to buy, buy the solo!!!
Weakness:
NO midbass, but I don't expect midbass out of a sub I love it!!! I'm looking to get another one, and I know 2 12's would have hellacious bass!!!! If you love bass, get this speaker!!!1 Similar Products Used: none |

I think the S12d is a great sounding sub that plays low and clean but needs tons of power. I had 4 running off an XS100 in a reg cab S-10. They only hit 142.8. I think they would have been louder if my truck wouldnt have been so hot inside. My quest for tons of bass made me sell them and replace them with 4 X15C's. (15 inch Xpls). if you want loud awesome bass Xpls are the way. havent had the chance to get metered but they are way louder than the solo's with half the gain. 2 stars for the solo's 5 stars for the XPls. |

Strength:
Cosmetically attractive. Overall sound quality is good. Small box requirements.
Weakness:
Large amounts of power to recognize full potential of sub. I currently have 3 Kicker Solos 12's; 2 98' models C's and 1 99' model D. I have the 2 98's in my SQ and soon to be IASCA comp. car powered by an Xtant 3300X. Since this is a SQ vehicle, the lack of a ton of power works well for me. Suprisingly enough, I get good subbass and punch from these 2 Solos with only around 180 to 200 watts going to each of them. They could use more, but then I'd have to move up in power class. The 99' D model is in my daily driver which is a 91' Integra. The Solo is powered by Crossfire 302 amp, which I must say I was suprised at just how well this amp runs the Solo. I often times find myself turning the bass on my Alpine deck down so as not to overpower the music with the bass. Overall, I think the Solos are a very good subwoofer, although I do think for less money one can get a less expensive and more effiecient sub and not give up sound quality, like the Image Dynamic IDQ subs. A very good speaker, not the best. I wasn't impressed with the low frequency performance. The ZR1000 DOES NOT AND WILL NOT EVER PUT OUT 3000 watts, not even 1500. You LOSE power into 2 ohms bridged as well. |

After reviewing many of the scenarios that have been submitted to this site I feel that it is only necessary to give an opinion that would be fair to all products. The Solo's are an awesome speaker that does tend to require a lot of power. It does not however eat a lot of power, you only need to have a high powered amp to run them. I have three solo 12s in the bac k of my honda accord. I am running them with one zr1000 amplifier also made by kicker. This will give one thousand watts to each speaker. Far from overpowering a speaker that can not be overpowered. No speaker can be overpowered. Blows happen more from clipping due to too little power rather than overpowering. I hit at 149.9. I feel that is pretty good. |

Kicker has crossed the boundry between Spl and sound quality with their line of Solobaric subs. If you feed these things their max rated RMS they flat out slam. I replaced my 2-12in. Orion 2NT's with one 12 in. Solo Baric, and to my suprise added superior low bass with no drop in SPL. If you feed it, it will HUMMM! |
