Strength:
Excursion capabilities, durability, upgraded to push button connectors and side venting.
Weakness:
Could be a little clearer at the high end. This review is for the new model that hit stores in May 2001... Wow – these speakers have an insane excursion. And like my previous experience with kicker comps, these subs definitely play the lower end of the bass spectrum more efficiently. The magnet seems smallish but you wouldn’t know it from the sound and feel. I have 2 - 4ohm DVC 12’s (VC’s wired in parallel) connected in stereo to a Sony xm-1502sx amp. They are only getting 190 watts rms each but they slam hard and clear like this, especially at the low end. You will also hear a very noticeable db increase once they break in. They don’t quite have the same crunch as JL or Boston Acoustic subs but they are far more durable in my experience. Similar Products Used: Previous Kickers, JL, Boston, Sony... |

Strength:
Loud and boomy in tight spaces. I have put 4 in a 98 camaro. Pushed by two zr240 dropped to 2 ohms mono.
Weakness:
None for the price can't beat em. Anyone that want a good product buy kicker componants and eclipes head units. Similar Products Used: Rockford fosgate 10's and 12's Blew both with less power. And no there was no amp clipping or distortion. |

Strength:
for the money this is a very tight sub, also dealers love to make deals with them, anything from buy one get one free to a free box (I got a custom box for 50% off with my two).
Weakness:
it is a little bit sloppoer than some other subs I've owned but on the other hand those were much costlier I paid 120 apiece plus tax and I got fifty percent off of a custom box with a plexiglass viewing window and 1.25 cubic feet per sub (I wanted larger but decided to go smaller in favor of greater power handeling. 300 watts is a little above the recommended rms power. Strength:
These subs hit very hard at low volumes, but turn up the volume and they really distort
Weakness:
I have had 12 of these subs, and they will not hold up. keep sending them back to stillwater designs. Don't waste your money with kicker. Buy a good product like MTX. I have changed my whole line to MTX and Alpine. Listen to me I know i have been doing this for over 8 years. Similar Products Used: piece of s h i t subs you buy at wal-mart (road gear) |

Strength:
These subs sound good and hit pretty hard, and you can find good prices online.
Weakness:
Distort at higher volumes. I was running two CompVR 12s in a ported enclosure with a Rockford Fosgate 500a2. They were pretty loud, but not the kind of sound that would win any SPL competitions. They start distorting when the volume or bass is set too high. If you want to run these at low volumes, get a sealed enclosure! These subs in a ported enclosure at low volumes sound like crap. I have had these subs for over a year and a half. For most people, they will be perfect, but if you have the need for huge bass, choose the Kicker L7 (square subs) or the Rockford Fosgate Power DVCs and a huge amp(Rockford 1000a2 or BD1000a1). Similar Products Used: I had older Kicker Comp 10s; if you want decent bass, 12s are the MINIMUM. These 10s just did not hit hard, most of the bass was heard, not felt. |

Kicker CompVR
Strength:
Very hard hitting, low, clear bass... Was running them with 250W a piece off a sony 4-channel amp, now running with a 600W (300Wx2)jensen amp (the jensen amp, BTW is a really great deal for the money if you can keep the amp cool). They have an AMAZING range. They set off the first stage of multistage alarms with 300W a piece.
Weakness:
I had to have a huge box to really get the range out of a sealed box. Wanted to run a good deal of wattage so I would not kill them due to underpowering. Very good deal for the $$$! I have searched far and wide for an effective combination for price and performance.. Paid a grand total of 500$ for the kickers, the box, and the jensen.. it has neevr failed me, and only overheated once in st louis on a 105 degree day after the car had been in the sun all day. Good deal.. the kickers have never failed me for the range and the amazing clarity of the bass.. they're really tight and clear! Similar Products Used: Pioneer 10"- one kicker 12 blows it backwards and forwards, even using the same wattage. No comparison necessary. It blew my friend 2 Rockford 12 w 800 watts out of the water. |

these subs pound better than any i have seen! i have them on a 600 watt mtx , and the distortion is next to none. i have all kenwood interiors, and together these speakers just kill almost all people that try to start there kids games........ these are the speakers that are the best in price and value for their strength
Weakness:
distortion is the main that i looked at and all in all they would not distort until i took my sony explode rec. up to the notch before max on volume i have tese in a box to spec and all together they puond the hell out of my 94 taurus,, i love these subs and im sure that you will too if you get them Similar Products Used: i do not think that any can compare for their price |

Weakness:
There are no weaknesses that i found I would recommend it to anybody who wants a hard hitting clear bass sounding system, i have 2 12" comp with a 600 watt american pro bridged and they really shake anything and everything around it. Strength:
very tight bass when played at low-end levels... was impressed by the price I paid.
Weakness:
none really although I would'nt show up at any big comp. with just a couple of these I had 3 of these with an (800 watt power acoustic) amp running to each one... which really turned heads but about a month ago I picked up one more and added another 800 watt amp in a custom built box by a guy at my local audio store and heads just fall off. (4 kicker COMP VR 12's w/ 3,200 watts running to them and 4 8" vega stealths for my doors and I can't stop listening to them. Similar Products Used: jl audio=way over rated |
