holy s-h-i-t. i got 6 10" JL W3 in my '93 explorer, and all i can say is holy s-h-i-t. my amp is a 3000w Pheonix Gold and it pumps hardcore.

great looking driver JL logo is very nice indeed. excellent bass reproduction..awesome excursion capabilities woould guess that this sub could easily match the output of a kicker comp vr 15 and sound better to boot.

ummmmm...Well my 550 dollar head unit likes to freak out when I lower the seat and listen to the bass test discs .. hehehe maybe thats a strength. I know the other people in the lanes next to me arent happy at all ...bass is your friend

This is an awesome subwoofer , I am running it in a sealed enclosure with the voice coils wired for 8 ohms. I am using a Memphis Audio studio 200 amp bridged at 300 watts and the bass is so deep and incredible that on subwoofer test discs if I lower my back seat my deck starts to skip. People always see me tooling in my tiny 2001 accent and wonder how the hell I got so much bass out of that one woofer . JL just makes a hell of a speaker its nice and tight not all loose and bloated sounding and the bass is also deep ...deep as a chasm . I love the JL subwoofer and would recommend this subwoofer to anyone looking for that all over body massaging bass.

Dear god. I don't know why anyone wouldn't give these a 5 out of 5. They were tagged at $350 canadian each. I bargained them down to $600 for the pair of 10s. These are so worth it. My '99 cavalier Z24 pounds hard. I got them mounted in my trunk floor firing up. Im not entirely sure of the dimensions of the box, but it's in my wheel well, and the false floor comes up about 8". They sound so solid. I'm pushing them with a Rockford bd 1000.1 and a rockford 1 farad cap to boot. The biggest problem I have now is my deck... the little sony doesn't cut it any more, the pre-out is only putting about 1.7V to my amp... I'm looking at a decent Alpine for the near future. It should double the sound quality/stability. Bottom line: If you are looking at purchasing some JL's, the W3's have the best high excursion driver I have seen. The 10's sound musical, but don't really pound outside the car as much as I anticipated, but they haven't been broken in yet either.

For everyone reading all these reviews about how JL sucks, don't believe them. If you can hook everything up the right way, then it will sound awesome. Not only can it move air, but it sounds like music while it's doing it. Not like other subs that simply produce noise. If you really want it to sound good make sure you have a nice amp to power it. Don't be afraid to give it more power than recommended. It can handle it easily. I am running 600 watts rms to my 2 12's. They absolutely pound. I can be heard from 17 houses away. That's about 1000 feet!!! It helps if the box is ported. I haven't had my spl tested but due to the crossover frequencies I'm probably not hitting much more than 140 db. I have an AudioControl crossover which really helps out with the sound quality. The low pass is at 90hz and the subsonic filter is set at 33hz. I also have a capacitor to give the amp the energy it needs to hit peak power which is 1200 watts on my amp. The 12w3's are a great buy. They are tight sounding if set up the right way and can sound like thunder when given the power. The retail on the HO ported boxes with the subs is $650. This may sound like a lot until you hear them. It sounds tighter and louder than most $1500 speakers I've heard. Don't be fooled by other people setting up their system the wrong way. I am a believer. I am buying nothing but JL from now on.

Holy sh!t. These are the loudest things i have ever heard. I bought them a week ago, they arent even broken in yet, and wow. The sound quality is insane, even at massive sound levels, most 12 inch subs i have seen sound like sh!t once they pass the 100db mark... Not these! Lets see here this subs is out-standing and well designed. I have 2 JL 12w3-d4s and they hit SO fvcking hard. The RMS on them is bull-sh1t.Youcangive them all the power you want and they will be like what the fvck don''t be a little b1tch about it give me some fvcking watts. They hit so low in my dual bandpass boxs it not even funny. I have had many subs before and these I say have got to be some of the best I have ever had! I have a 2000 watts 4 chanel amp. and I don''t bridge it because 500 watts to each sub to JUST ENOUGH.

I have just finished installing my subs. I stuffed FIVE JL Audio 15" W3''s in my little 1986 Nova with a Rockford Fosgate BD 1000 Amp running to each sub (yes thats five amps). I havent even turned it up yet but Im going for the record.

Can take alot of power, but dont have to in order to flex, especially with JL amps. DVC is always a plus. Awesome response to low frequencies, but yet still amazing when it comes to SQ. The bomb, bottom line.

Ive heard alot of people complain about the foam surrounds, but my bet is those people are blazin alot more wattage to the subs then recommended, makin them flex too much. That''ll destroy any surround eventually, no matter what kind. Ive never had a problem with my JL''s ever!

JL Audio is the bomb. Thats the bottom line. I hear alot of people talk crap about JL but when i hear their systems i just laugh and then put them to shame. It''s all the same. They always ask "OMG!!!, what do you got slammin in there G?" and i tell em, JL baby. Mouths drop. I have 2 15" w3-d4''s with a JL 250/1 amp hooked to each voice coil runnin 250watts RMS at 4ohms, and im slammin a 167.4 .... Easy! These subs are non other than the bomb! But its these fools that hook they stuff up wrong that are dissin. If your hooked up and know what your doin, JL products are unstopable.

What are weaknesses

I got 2 12s runnin off a ppi pc1400.1 amp (only 200 watts per sub) and the box doesnt have the recommended airspace and these things hit stupid hard.
