Amazing low output, clear as a bell even at high volumes.
Weakness:
Doesnt pick up high notes very well. You almost need some 8's or 10's for some midbass. Amazing is the first word that comes to mind. I have 2 of these monsters in an 86 camaro and it is by far the loudest thing i have ever had or even heard. If you turn up my MA Audio 4000 watt amp, it takes your breath away. My back glass flexes about a half inch. If you want real bass buy just one, if you want to outbeat anyone in your town by two, and if you wanna die buy three. Similar Products Used: 4 rockford punch hx2 12's, 3 jl w6 12's, 3 jl w6 8's, 4 kicker impulse 12's, 2 infinity beta 15's. They are all nothing compared to the w3 18's. |

Quality product - Best 300 watt rms sub around imho. As alway get a good amp.
Weakness:
Don't know what it can really take - the extension with the 400 watts was crazy I had to remove the grill 'cause it was pounding so hard and far. JL Audio Rocks. Running JL Audio 10w3 D4 (DVC). Rated at 300 watt RMS, but I have succesfuly ran 400 watt rms, the extesion was nuts... I was afaid to pump any more into them. The sound quality is great and they hit hard for a medium range sub. This sub had no problem with a 300watt RMS 1000 watt Peak Amp, I only got scared of blowing them after upgrading to a Autotek amp runing 400 watt rms 1200 watt peak. I ran them that way for a while - they are still working so maybe it would not have been an issue Similar Products Used: RF Series 1 10", JBL 10", Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 - the JL 10w3 d4 is better than all but the Kappa which is rated at 50 watt RMS more |

2 10" W7's
Strength:
everything you would want from a sub, SPL capabilities, SQ capabilities. These subs are so advanced my bet is there wont be any sub within the next 1-2 years to equal the W7, until JL audio comes out with a new model!
Weakness:
Cost fo' sho! But your getting what you pay for without a doubt. Oh yeah, they might cost you extra money too!(I cracked this guys passanger side back window whe i pulled up next to him. And he was pissed! IDk i thought it was cool!) Sorry, they don't have a spot for posting reviews on W7's yet, so I'll do it here. For anybody who's a fan of the W3 series get yourself a set of these. I used to run 3 10" W3's, but 2 months ago I decided that wasnt enough. And I baught 2 10" W7's. Not saying my W3's werent dope, cause they we're, but after i heard about the W7's potential output compared to the W3 I had to get them and see for myself. On JL's website in the FAQ section on the W7, they list the 10" W7 as producing 90% more displacement than a 10" W3. This couldnt be more close to the truth. And actually from my experience I would say that 90% is an understatement! This being the reason, With my two 10" W7's I am hitting 11 more dB than I was with my Three 10" W3's! I im still using my Jl 500/1's one with each sub, just the same as my 3 W3's, (in case you cant count that means i have an extra JL 500/1, and its for sale--PlushCivic@hotmail.com--make offer) Similar Products Used: Nothing compares! I dont care what brand, what size! |

Haha thats funny. These subs only strength is their weakness. Maybe if I wanted to have a farting competition. I was hoping there was a rating below 1 star for these subs.
Weakness:
I can fart louder. Pieces of trash. All I have to say is MOMO's are prolly 15 no 20 times better then these pieces of junk. All you people over rating this sub have obviously never heard a real system before. And I did purchase these subs new. I was looking for SQ and I didn't even get that. I felt so retarded hooking up such pieces of trash up to my beautiful Alpine amp. I hope they didn't damage my amp-jk. Overall JL audio is crap compared to Polk MOMO or Focal. These subs have no BALLS!!! enough said... Similar Products Used: FEAR THE MOMO-Cerwin Vega HED |

2 JL Audio 12W3-D4
Strength:
Deep, very hard hitting bass. I listen to all types of music from rap, to punk, to rock and I have never heard a sub keep up with punk drums as well as this. But still, when I play rap, like I said... the bass is UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Weakness:
I've heard a lot of talk about the foam surround being a problem, however after some research and reviews I found that this surround is in fact butyl rubber... not foam. Other than $$$ no weakness at all! (Even though I got an excellent deal on them) I just got 2 12" JL Audio W3's in a ProWedge box. I have them hooked up to a Legacy (LA1990) 2000 watt amplifier [I know... you don't have to say; need money for a JL amp]. This amp was tested at 14.4 volts so it's most likely putting out 1000 watt peak, 500 rms for the pair (good wattage match, but junky amp). These subs hit so hard that they are almost setting a pace for my heart so that it beats to the music. You can feel the bass pulsating (<-- if that's a word) through your body and then the pressure builds up inside your ears, because they are so damn loud. I love these subs. I just can't wait till I get a better amp! Similar Products Used: Two 12" Boston Generators (excellent sub, I highly recommmend it, but there is still no comparison to the W3's); Two 10" Infinity Kappas (pretty good SQ, but that's about it, W3's 15 to 20 times bette |

Strength:
it POUNDS, best sound quality, cheap, sounds good on any type of music
Weakness:
cant see out rear-view mirror, girlfriend whining "oww, my ears" For my birthday I finially went out and bought my dream sub, a JL 10w3 Oh my, not only does it pound, but it can handle Any kind of music. It hits even for country songs, techno, rock, anything. Its probably the best Sounding sub ive heard yet. This sub can take it, even tones that turned my last sub into a flapjack. Ive got it on a JVC deck (4v output) running to a MTX 4202 amp (200wRMS). Ive only got one, but i have it in a sealed truck box right behind the drivers seat. What you do is leave the driver's window rolled all the way up, but roll down the passanger window halfway, and it will hit 2 or 3 times harder. It turns your whole truck into a ported box. If you aint got it then go get it Last time you heard from me I was blazzin 2 JL 15"w3-d4's. Well since Im a fanatic, I got bored wit dat. Im in the finishing satges of my new ride Tha Mitsu Mirage Ls coupe, dropped to tha blacktop. Now to tha system. I pulled 6 12" w3-d4's in a wall where my back seat used to be. The box is massive 1.25 cu.ft. chamber for each sub. Sealed. 2 subs wired series to parrallel at 4ohms to there own JL 500/1. Tis nice! If you wanna go deaf, make yourself a good setup like this. You'll have to invest in alot of dynamat(extreme is nice) new car bat, and alternator, and some caps. Get some thick wires too. Havent tested it true potential yet, but to give you an idea, my homie who lives bout 7 blocks away knows when im playin some Westside Riderz or Daz Dilly. JL 15W3 D4
Strength:
everything.
Weakness:
none whatsoever...going deaf maybe? :P And I quote Brian Smith from carsound.com on his review of a 15w3: "This thing is a brutal, vicious subwoofer." Need i say more? This has got to be the hardest hitting, most musical sub ive ever heard. Ive got it in a 2.5 cuft sealed box in the back of my grand cherokee powered by a JBL 600/1 amp and a 1 farad cap. Im afraid to play it too loudly without the windows down because i think if i do ill blow out my windows. JL knows their stuff. period. I've noticed some people think foam surrounds are a weakness....check into it. they use foam for a reason. the sub has such a high displacement (about 5 liters) that if they used a weaker material like rubber, the pressure would suck the surround in on itself and destroy it in a matter of seconds.
