Strength:

extremely l o w b a s s........be careful. besides whats not to like?....they are perfect in every way. ever see a non metal cone speaker under heavy load. it looks like when you throw a rock into a still pond.......ripples

Weakness:

uh ......do they make a 2 megawatt amp yet?......feed me more power. of course i cant really see that as a drawback, only an excuse to buy moren amplifiers to feed these little monsters. i can live with that

alright.......I AM SICK OF HEARING ABOUT YOU PEOPLE SAYING THESE ARE JUNK.are you people dumb? of course theyre gonna sound bad they require massive amounts of power. think about the weight of a metal cone versus a paper cone. now think of the power required to move it back and forth 100 times a second. these speakers have the biggest magnet and heaviest cone of almost any speaker on the market which means they will bog out and quite poosibly blow with too little power. no matter how indestructable it might be, a sure fire way to kill a speaker or make it sound bad is to under power it. i know everyone thinks that their fosgate amps are almighty because they say that they have 800+ watts. that is just a number. look at a fosgate amp, notice how big it is, now look underneath. see that little box? that is your 800 watt amp. inside there are little mosfet chips they can put out wattage but not the current to run power hungry subs. pick up an xtant amp. it weighs a ton. notice there are no labels bragging about 10000 watts of power. they dont need to brag everybody knows about xtant i have pushed four kicker solo twelves too 148 dbs with one xtant amp at 1/2 gain running 1 ohm mono. shortly thereafter i melted the speaker wire. anyway all i am trying to say is that you need REAL POWER TO PUSH THESE SUBS. I myself have four eclipse 12s in a golf gti running off of two xtant 1001s... in a bandpass enclosure tuned to 40 hz. when i hit 40 hz it seems like the trunk is going to blow out. the car just starts flexin like it wants to fall apart. i have had to retighten every screw. these are serious subs. dont buy them if you dont have the right amount of power. dont buy them just because they look really cool. if you buy them for any other reason besides the fact that you love music and the thought of feeling that iasca bass test cd punding your insides into oblivionand making your ears bleed, then you are making a mistake. it also helps to have around 1500 clams to spend on amps to push these babies. any way i have said my piece. thank you very much.

Strength:

With 3 of these Eclipse 12" woofers matched with two Earthquake amps, it hits pretty hard. Perfect bass, great all around performance.

Weakness:

None. JL???????

I paid a tremendous amount of money for my system, which includes, a component system by Diamond Audio, a head unit and EQ by Kenwood, plus the two amps that require minimal amounts of energy from my dry cell battery and alternator. So overall I am very pleased with these, My next step is to get my hands on the Titanium series!

Weakness:

DENT A LITTLE TOO EASY

WELL I HAD THREE 12 IN JL W6 AND I DECIDED TO GET TWO 8812.6. THE ECLIPSE TOTALLY PUT THE JL'S TO SHAME. MUCH MUCH LOUDER AND CLEANER. YOU CANT GOT WRONG WITH THEESE SUBS. THEY ARE A LITTLE STEEP IN PRICE, BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT

Strength:

Hard hitting, clear, low, high.. Strength and wattage capabilities

Weakness:

Ok. There are a few. I went through two orders of these things. The first 2 I bought and the coils froze up and put the cones in the Forward position..

Ok. So your thinking about all these new subs.. Everyone's got the new stuff out. You hear the L7 Solo-Barics are hitting massive bass, and even the new MTX 15 in which can power 4000 watts is amazing (which is.. I RECOMMEND!!!).. Than you stumble upon the Eclipse.. a very expensive product.. but, I wouldnt suggest these for people who just want to mess around with a little bass. Right now i have 4 12'' Eclipses in a Ford 150. They bump.. BUMP.. cleanest bass I have ever heard.. But, I still think Eclipse is shady.. They sent me faulty ones first.. thats messed up

Similar Products Used:

Aura 12's, CompVR 12's, Solo-Baric 12's (L7's), JL W6's.. Eclipse is cleaner and harder hitting.

Strength:

the most clean, clear, percise, accurate, fastest-responce, deepest, sub on the market except for the f%ckin' spl monsters (aka c.v. strokers, juggernauts, kove, and all of the others that will cave your head in but sound like my friend pip farting on a snare drum previously listed subs have ridiclious SPL but, horific SQ)

Weakness:

nothing really, this I have been around car and home audio equip for over 25 years and this is the most unreal sub I have ever heard.
SOOOOOOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE but if have the cash i highly reccomend

THIS SUB IS A WORK OF ART. IT IS A SHAME THAT IT IS SO EXPENSIVE. THAT IS WHY I GAVE IT A 4 IN VALUE RATING. i COULD PUT A MONTHLY PAYMENT ON MY S2000 FOR THE PRICE OF ONE 10. THE ABSOULTED BEST SOUNDING SUB ON THE MARKET. YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM THE POWER THAT THEY NEED OR IT WOULD BE THE BIGGEST WASTE AND WILL MAKE SOMEONE LIKE ME CRY! FEED THEM 1000+ WATTS AT LEAST TO MAKE THEM MOVE A LITTLE. I RECENTLY HAVE JUST PUT 2 12 INCH (4 OHM) TITANIUMS IN MY S2000 WITH 2 ALPINE V12 1507 POWER AMPLIFIERS (HANDS DOWN THE BEST AMPLIFIER FOR THESE SPEAKERS WITHOUT HAVING TO KILL YOUR POCKET) FEEDING THEM 1500+ WATTS EACH AND WITH 2 SETS OF 6.5 BOSTON PROS AMPLIFIED BY AN XTANT 1001D HAS FINALLY GIVEN ME THE SYSTEM I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR, FOR OVER 10 YEARS. AT MY LAST COMPETITION I HIS 161.8 OUT-LAW STYLE (INCLUDING TOP DOWN) IT IS THE CLEANEST SOUND I HAVE EVER HEARD FOR A NON-PRO SYSTEM.

ALL IN ALL THESE SUBS ROCK AND IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY GET THEM AND IF YOU DON'T CONSIDER SOME OF THE COMPARISONS LISTED ABOVE.
GOOD LUCK!

I HAVE USED EVERY SINGLE HIGH-END SUB ON THE MARKET HERE ARE SOME CAMPARISONS (from best to worst) :
Polk/MOMO: SECOND BEST SUB ON THE MARKET PRESENTLY. CRYSTAL CLEAR POUNDING BASS. MOST COMPLETE SUB FOR THE $$$$$$$$. HARD TO FIND THOUGH. IF YOU COME ACROSS PICK IT UP! ps IN BREAKING THEM IN DON'T GIVE IT AN SPL TEST IN THE FIRST 5 MIN OF PLAY. THEY WILL BLOW!
12.1 KAPPA PERFECT- EXCELLENT FOR THE PRICE (250) DEEEEEEEP AND CRYSTAL CLEAR. best sub for the $$$$$$$$$ with out a doubt.
ECLIPSE ALUMINUM: (little bro to titanium) LOUD AND VERY CLEAR BASS NOT AS LOW AS PERFECT BUT HITS 2X HARDER. DEFINATLEY PICK UP IF FOUND LESS THAT 300
KICKER L7 SOLO: HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE ON OF THE BEST SUBS ON THEMARKET. (L7) DESIGN NOT YET PERFECTED. WILL BLOW EASILY WATCH OUT!!!! DEEP LOUD AND I MEAN LOUD BASS. GREAT SUB JUST WISH A LITTLE BIT LESS EXPENSIVE, OR DEMAND MORE PERRFORMANCE FOR THE $$$$ FROM STILLWATER (KICKER'S MANUFACTURER)
MTX 8000: OVERALL GREAT SUB. LOUD DEEP CLEAR NOT THAT EXPENSIVE ACCORDING TO A PERFORMANCE TO PRICE RATIO. GIVE OVER 600 WATTS AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISSATISFIED.
ROCKFORD POWER HX2 (2001): LOUD AS SH!T. DEMAND TONS OF POWER. IF GIVEN RECCOMENDED 1000+ WATTS THESES BABIES WILL RIP.
KENWOOD dB +: LOUD "PUNCHY" SUB. NOT THAT DEFINED BASS BUT WILL STILL ROCK. DEEP BASS HIGHLY RECCOMENDED WITH RAP OR METAL. GREAT DEAL IF LOOKING FOR LOUD BASS NOT AS MUCH SQ (SOUND QUALITY)
JL W6: IT WILL BE UNFAIR MY RATING JL BUT I STILL WILL. THEY ARE THE DOMINANT SUB FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS. WHY????? SURE THEY POUND, BUT THEIR BASS IS UNCOLORED AND UNDEFINED. THE W6 IS THE ONLY JL I WOULD RECCOMEND. THEY POUND BUT STILL NOT FLOATING MY BOAT AFTER ABOUT 10 YEARS OF BEING ON TOP (I HAVE OWNED EVER SINGLE SUB PREVIOUSLY LISTED BUT THE W6 HAS A BOOMY SOUND LIKE ALL JL) ps DO NOT BUT W0s'!!!!!!

Strength:

** Deep, loud bass. Even at high volumes
** Huge linear excursion (1.17" ONE WAY!)
** 500 watts RMS
** 1000 watts max
** Dual voice coils
** Glossy aluminum cones and 1" santoprene surround
** The list goes on and on, they kill in every category

Weakness:

None that I have found, they produce great, flawless bass that hits like crazy. Only real weakness is the price.

These subs are definitely high end audio. I spent countless hours looking for the perfect sub, and I have found it. They produce some of the best bass only rivaled by JL, Boston, Solo Baric, and other high end car audio, but never equalled. JL may have loud bass, but it is murky as hell. These subs have an unbelievable sound. I only have a 600 watt amp going to them and it pounds better than my friends kenwood subs that have 600 a piece. I seriously reccomend them if you have the oney to put the required power into them (nothing under 300 a piece.) If you have the money, they will gobble up the power. They are the most power hungry sub I have ever experienced. I originally tested them on a 300 watt amp and it went into thermal protection quickly because of the power they draw. So if you want to be heard over a block away (I've been told that my car can be) than these are the subs you want to pick up.

**Phoenix Gold QX 10"
**Kenwood eXcelon dB+ 12"
See these. Heard them all. They don't compare (the lower end eclipse's were worth the money.) These subs pound harder and produce better bass.

Strength:

real loud and sounds suprisingly good. doesn't require much power. i have them inverted the magnet on this is f'ing huge. availible in dvc 4 or svc 4 ohm. Works great in small, small boxes less than 1 cuft. couldn't find another 15 with more xmax that didn't require at least twice the power.

Weakness:

can't think of any.

i hit a 148.0 with 2 8715's with 500 watts of power. i am getting 2 more and a 1000 watt amp. i highly recommend these subs if you don't have much room or you don't want to run alot of power.
