I have run the crap out of my two aluminum cone 12''s for the past year and a half, and these subs have never broken down or given me a hard time.I''m running an MTX225HO on to them running at .75 ohms. I have the DVC6ohm. Without doing any modifications to my car including any sound deadening.I consistantly hit over 148dB while still competing in SQ and Spl. I would have to say that these are the best subs dollar for dollar.

stylish perfect sq great spl 3 inch excursion(throws some mean cone action)

Weakness:

im too weak to lift it 1 12 makes the back seat passengers sick a little power hungry

i have 1 aluminum 12 and it sounds great with 600wrms going to it its very tight and thumps hard i have my one aluminum shooting in throught the center armrest/fold down seat and its still is loud and hitts hard with no trunk to roll off of. my next step it to dynamat the trunk and get a fiberglassed box face it backwords....that should dubble the loudness and tightness .....it already sounds like i have 4 rockford dvc 12''s but the difference is that i have a little thing called sound QUALITY that rockford doesnt know exists

I bought the eclipse thinking that it would replace my stolen Infinity Perfect 12.1, but I was way off. I can''t believe a paid more and got less. They sound great. They will easily blow away JLs any day, but when it comes to overall quality the Infinity Perfects are the way to go.

Strength:

Tight, linear, accurate bass. Built like a rock. Clean, well built. Throw what you want at them, but like Timex, they keep on kicking. Worth every dollar.

Weakness:

The worry or the "beercan" affect: when the old ones would get to hot and people were just beating the hell out of them, they would bottom out and the cone would get punched out by the pole piece. But I talked to a Eclipse factory rep and he said that they made the former that connects to the cone wider in diameter( i dont know the spelling for that word) and used a thicker, stronger glue to prevent that from happening.

I used to work at Sound Advice in St.Pete Fl and we sold them there. I was turned by them at first by the looks and then i heard them in a 99 Honda Civic. I sat in there with the guy who owned the car and was just blown away by how tight and accurate the bass was. From the moment on, I decided that those were the subs for me.

On my last day of working for the company I decided to get them along with an Xtant 1001dx and a 1 farad Monster Cap.

About 3 months ago along with my dad, who builds cabinets for a living, we constructed the box from 3/4" mdf. I sealed with expanding epoxy and silicone(the stuff used in aquariums) and cut the holes for the subs and speaker wires. All's i have to say it is one HEAVY box.

I have the Xtant 1001dx 1000 watt(Xtant underrates their amps by 20%, so actually im getting 1200 watts) with the gain nearly half way up, an LFQ45max 45 hertz bass boost module set at +8, with the input gain at +12, and the slope set at 24 db/octave. I have the subs wired in parrell to give the amp a 1-ohm mono load to get full power. The Xtant, Monster Cap, Pheniox Gold m25 2-channell amp and subs are installed in the rear of my 91 Mustang GT. I have a Pioneer Premier DEHP-56 head unit with a built in crossover.

I listen to mainly techno music which normally has a lot of bass and these subs can take it. They sound very clean, no distortion at all. The bass is very deep and rich, which is why I choose the amp I did and the subs, because I know that for the money, for the sound quality that I wanted, the Eclipse subs and Xtant amp are match mad in heaven.

The subs can handle all the power that the amp puts out, but I know that they can handle more so thats why im selling my 1001dx and getting a 2001dx for them because i want them to used to their fullest potential.

I would HIGHLY recommend these subs to anyone who wants the cleanest, richest sound you can get from a pair of subs. If you do get these subs, make sure you get an amp that has the balls to push them. All those amps out there claim 800 watts or 1000 watts, but they really arent true power, you have to have 14 volts going to them and from my personal and business experinces is if you see an amp that makes 1200 watts and cost 300 dollars(power acoustic for example) dont belive the hype, save your money, get an amp like the Xtant or an Orion Hcca amp, PPI amp, or a U.S. AMPS amp because they got the balls to push anything you put on them without breaking a sweat!

PS--if your intrested in buying my 1001dx, please let me know at funkbreaks@hotmail.com

Heavy duty magnet
Low freeair resonance -- 28hz
high power handling -- 200W RMS / 400W Peak

Weakness:

Clean sounding, pretty decent output for low power (80W in my case)
So far I like it. I belw out the stock 6.5" JBL in my explorer JBL system and replaced the enclosure w/ a q-logic one (drop in replacment.. kinda)
so I could get a decent speaker in there.. I got the 8708.4 because I didn't really like what some of the other brands had to offer in an 8"
I paid retail price of $135 for it. I'm happy. I only have 80w going to it currently and it'll handle 200W RMS so I'll be getting an amp pretty soon. probably a soundstream or some other quality amp.
If you have some questions email away at mdhopkin@unity.ncsu.edu

Strength:

Nothing compares.

Weakness:

Try and find one.

How could someone compare and Eclipse Sub with a Rockford Fosgate, especially the new models. From what I see and have heard, Eclipse subs can't be topped by anything as far as the sub that can do DB racing and SQ and dominate both categories at any power rating. I would say that the only thing comparable is the new Quart Competition Series subs.

Strength:

LOUD-TIGHT CLEAN BASS!!!

Weakness:

I'd have to be smoking something pretty nasty to be able to find anything bad about this sub

This review is to coment on the prevoius one, The guy said he had the sub installed by a professional in the "right box"
I have a few possible explanations to his unhappiness
1. The sub was damaged to begin with
2. He was running an amp which didn't get enough signal going in.
(Get A Line Driver)
3. Bad Install

Eclipse is a monster in spl and gives off the best bass I have ever heard especially when it is done right.

Anyone who down's on this sub has not heard this sub when it is installed properly and they are missing out.
I paid $329 for my 8810 DVC and from my experience, if I had to buy it again I'd buy it at retail if I had to and have no complaints. The Eclipse is worth every penny.

I can't keep the drool from observers off of my windows

I previously had two soundstream rubicon 12's and I decided to scale down to just one sub. I figured on losing some SPL but I was dead wrong. My single 12' DVC eclipse pounded way harder than my previous TWO subs.

Everything you can think of

Weakness:

Will dent

Paid $450 for 2 10" aluminum cones. WOW. At first I was doubting them, but after installing them, I would pay $600 for the pair without asking questions. Make shure you have plenty of power and a VERY strong box. I'm running a punch 800a2, and the pair takes it like a champ. If anyone doubts the price I paid, I just put in a song with some lows. It drops lows with better sound quality and more spl than most 12's I've heard. If you have the money, I would extremely recommend this sub. I would easily say this is the BEST sub ever, but I was proven wrong, because eclipse came out with the titanium. Stay tuned and I will probably have a pair of these to talk about. IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY, BUY THESE SUBS. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY, GET IT, THEN BUY THESE SUBS.
