First off to all those frickin idiots out there that give this sub a bad rating...GET THE HELL OUT OF THE CAR AUDIO FIELD YOU DUMB A**!!!!!!!!! THESE SUBS ROCK SO HARD AND CLEAN I STARTED CRYING WITH JOY!!!!!!!!! My neighbors keep b*tchin about my bass cus sh*t falls of there walls...they told me they were gonna call the cops cause I play it so loud.....O WELL!!!! (do whatch gotta do I told her.) I have a 91 toyota camry and I know its not the best car to install car audio in but I wanted to be the first to break the toyota brierer instead of all this honda and acura sh*t out there. My system includes the following: Sony 750M Car deck, MB Quart (2)31/2's and (2) 4' up in the front and separates 61/2 components in the back with Phonix Gold XS4600 150wrms driving the mids and highs and two soundstreams tarantulas (the best amps you can buy for subs nothing better) with about 2000wrms to each eclipse sub hitting about 169db. Now to all the dumb asses that think JL Audio is better than eclipse better go have the head examined cause they may of had brain damage listening to that sh*t they call music for so long!!!! Listen people if you want to have good subs and have the money to spend go get you a pair of titanium 12' eclipse subwoofers and get the mtx already made 1'mdf box and install it in the back of whatever car you have and put at least 300wrms amp(phonix gold, ppi, soundstream, mmatts, mtx, Alpine v12, memphis, just to name a few)to it and you'll sh*t your pants. Besides I also had to have subs that look really tight as well as my car does. I have my 91 camry lowered 21/2 inches jet pearl black paint job with 18' Niche 1 piece chrome shocks on them 5%black tint and the gtrs big ass wing on the back thats black as well, the whole dash is carbon fiber. xeoen lights with blue turn signal bulbs. Not everyone has money to spend on there car like I do in car audio but if your putting the best car audio system together for either spl or sq then follow my specs and you cant go wrong!!!!! (Car Deck also use apline...or...pioneer premier 720,820,920)

These eclipse aluminum subs are absolutely some of the best subs that money can buy. Lots of subs can play loud, but this is the only sub ive heard that can play louder than hell and still sound perfect. I run 1000Watts to each sub continuous and they handle it fine and I cannot get them to distort even slightly. In the last competition i was at i hit 148db, and that was with no caps, in a cheap generic mtx box. Once the custom box is done and i get the stiffening capacitors i should be able to break 150. And thats just 2 12's! Everyone that hears it thinks its gotta be like 4-6 until i show them. I actually had a cop pull me over because he could fell the bass in car from where he was parked a block and a half away. These subs kick ass, thats all there is to it. oh yeah, Orion sucks.

My biggest complaint so far is my loss of hearing... Oh yeah, and theyre expensive, but if you've got a hook up or a lot of cash, these subs are 4 u.

I think i pretty much covered the review in my strengths area, but..um...buy it, you wont regret it and your friends will be envyous

I live in an area where Kicker subs are the sh*t. Almost all my "stereo buddies" except one have Kicker. So I tried to get away from Kicker and do something else because everyone knows what they can do and sound like. So I went w/ Eclipse, and a good damn choice it was. I know these are not the aluminum subs but for two steps down in the Eclipse series, they sure pack a punch. I have 2 10" 86100 DVC's w/ a Fosgate 250a2 and hit a 137.4.
Now I know that its not the loudest system (thats for sure) but for what it is, it sure is loud. Also you have to take in to consideration that I have a 94 Cavalier with no modifications to it, this is not an spl car by any means. So for what it hits, its awesome!

Anyone who says this sub is crap is absolutly out of there mind. Granted, it is more expensive (I got it at about half list price) you get what you pay for. The guy who said he liked the two RF Punch series better is insane. Rockford is good but Punch series don't even compare. I've got a Soundstream Human Reign (200x4@4ohms RMS) that I paid $280 for through a dealer mix-up and it totally pounds.

The aluminum cone does tend to dent easy as I've heard, but I haven't had a problem yet.

If you've got the money (or a good hook-up) go for it. This is a high end SPL-SQ sub and I enjoy every bit of it. The freq range is suprising flat 40hz-110hz. It reproduces amazing low bass and responds well. If you don't have much room to put a lot of subs but you want massive bass, get one Eclipse 88 series 10 or 12 and give it the listed rms watts. I'm sure you'll be pleased.

I paid about $1000 bucks for two + custom cabinet, which was not a problem. They give me the sound I am looking for. All I recommend that a person do, is feed them lots of CLEAN power. Since I have purchased these subs, my trunk has been "OFF THE HOOK". For a person not to like these subs, they would just be purely playa hate'n. These subs straight up bang. As you can see I am truley satisfied. I would reccomend these subs to anyone. Like I said before "feed them lots of clean power" and you wil never look back. My system config. is Eclipse 55040 (HU), Eclipse CD Changer (5083), BA 6.5 Pro up front and 6.5 New Rallyes in the rear, and two 88120DVC powered by an Xtant 1001DX amp. The subs fire downward, I am thinking about getting another Xtant 1001Dx, so each sub could really ROCK/BANG!!

PS: If anyone wants to sell thier Xtant 1001DX amp, please let me know!!

I love the eclipse 12 inch sub. This sub performs like none other. It has the ability to produce clear hard hitting ultra low bass. The subs are so good I had to dynomat my trunk with two layers of dynomat. Eclipse is a superior company with superior products. I love the two twelves I have and over this winter intend to upgrade to the state of the art titantium subs

I recomand eclipse for this reason. Eclipse has a small name, jbl auido has a big name. Now every year jbl puts out mass produced week wolfers with horible magnits and padding for the wolfer. People still buy this product only cause of the name. On the other hand eclipse does it the old fashion way. Due to the fact that they dont have a larg name they must constantly put newer and better products on the market. There is only one word to discribe eclipse quality

i paid 600 for a pair. and damn it's worth it. i run 2 mtx 1500dx amps for it and it can handle the presurre. these subs are not for fun if you want the best these subs are the craziest. if anyone that has the 88120 for sale then give me a call at (808)291-5458. Ask for james :p

This sub RULES. I feed it 600 watts and its still not enough for just one 88012. However unless you have a lot of money to spend on a killer amp this sub is just not worth it. But if you get the kind of amp this sub really deserves you will be VERY happy. I've listened to people blah blah blah about strokers and other high end SPL subs and none of them come close. Some might pound as hard but none of them have the combined SPL SQ capabillities of this bad boy

First off it is a beautiful sub as you well know. But that isn't why I bought one. The excusion is amazing, leading to fenominal bass, with surprizing accuracy.

Even though the sub is nearly perfect nothing lasts forever. The one complaint that I do have is that it dents toooooo easily. Keep it well placed and well protected and you'll have no complaints at all.

I have to say for the $380 that I paid for it, all though expensive, was well worth it. At least when you are beating 12's and 15's with spl's in the 140's. No one believes that it is one 12... Until I show them. When the time comes I will be getting another so I'll be in the 150's.

The closest thing on the market is the Audiobahn Al DVC 12's. They do have spl and quality, but the extra wattage handling on the Eclipse 12's sets them above the Audiobahns.
