Toyota Tundra Trucks | Vans

Toyota Tundra Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

Available in Regular cab, Double Cab and CrewMax styles, the Tundra also features three bed lengths, three engines, three wheelbases and a choice of 4X2 or 4X4 configurations.

The Tundra offers three engines and three cab sizes. Handling is relatively responsive, but the ride with the TRD package is stiff. The 5.7-liter V8 is very powerful. The tailgate is easy to raise and lower. A new 4.6-liter V8 replaced the old 4.7-liter for 2010.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Tundra SR5 2WD

Strength:

Quiet, comfortable ride with great flipping wads of power. Very reliable (again check out Consumer Reports)

Weakness:

A little more expensive than the domestic counterparts but the resale value stays up far longer than the others

Excellent vehicle. I've had none of the brake problems mentioned at various times. I've hauled a half yard of dirt and gravel, loads of lumber without any problem. Yes, it does feel like a car but only in the quietness of the ride. Other than that, it does everything a half ton pickup should do. The two previous reviewers obviously own domestic pickups and are just doing a negative review because they're having so many problems with their Dodges and Fords. If they want to carry or tow heavier loads then they should get a truck that will accomodate their needs. The standard Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge one half ton pickups will not haul their loads as well as the the Toyota. Check out Consumer Reports for an accurate description of capacities and motor strength.

Rides like a car. Brakes are horrific at best. Under powered V-8. Very poor gas mileage (9-11 mpg). Way undersprung. Worst big truck on the market.

Great truck if you're in the market for a car.

Model Reviewed: Tundra Access Cab 4X4

Strength:

Good looking.

Weakness:

Wrong tires for a 4X4, off road package, TRD vehicle. The jack supplied does not lift the front end high enough to change the tire. The clock is located at the bottom of the dash and is difficult to see if you have short legs. The arrow on the instrument panel that is labeled 'Fuel Door' does not mean the fuel door is open, it means the fuel door is located on the side of the vehicle the arrow is pointing to (pretty dumb).

Although the Tundra has some nice features, the tires are not one. All Tundra's come with BFG Rugged Trail T/A tires. The size is P26575R16. If you know tires, the 'P' stands for passenger car tire. When looking at the Tundra I explained that I need a reliable 4X4 to travel 20 miles of dirt roads to my isolated property and needed something dependable. The first time I went the front left tire blew out. When I contacted the dealer they didn't even want to know me. Neither did Toyota when I filled out their on line survey. I replaced all the tires with LT (light truck 8 ply) tires at my own expense. Needless to say that I will never buy another Toyota when all they care about is selling them and not backing them up. I have already talked several people out of buying one which has cost Toyota a lot more than it would have cost them to satisfy this former customer.

Strength:

The brakes on my Tundra are so faulty, they erase all of the truck's potential strengths.

Weakness:

Severe vibration when braking. A repair job that can cost as much as $2,000 with no assurance that the vibration won't reappear in a few thousand miles.

For over 35 years, I've heard people say never buy a first-year model car for they haven't had a chance to get bugs out. The single biggest mistake I've ever made in my car buying experience was to purchase the first year (2000) Tundra. Toyota completely failed in regards to the its brakes.

Very short turning radius.Interior noise is very quiet.

Weakness:

The brakes are very troublesome. The bakes have been repaired 4 times on the rear and 4 times on the front. The rotors get warped and the truck shakes when tying to stop.If that problem could ever be fixed I could reccommemd the truck. But the problems still exist.

This truck has the best ride of any truck I've owned.Plenty of power.Lots of leg room.I have 61500 miles.I've owned alot of trucks.

Strength:

Ride, Handling, Fit and Finish, Enigne Power, Cabin Noise (lack of), 6 speaker AM/FM/Cass/CD stereo

Weakness:

Removed back seat headrests because it creates blind spots in rear view mirror.

This is my 5th Toyota Truck. It's the first Tundra I've owned. The 2003's come with more standard features and Toyota has finally included remote keyless entry with the power package. Very happ with the truck so far. I have never had any major problems with the other Toyota's I've owned and don't expect to have any with this one. Toyota trucks hold resale value. When it's time to buy a new truck I'll buy another Toyota. The Big three don't even come close.

Great in 4X4, smoth ride, Lots of power, add High perf. exhaust and cold air intake for a bit more punch.

Weakness:

Small back seat, Shallow Bed, Not very roomy in back seat, no radio controls on stearing wheel

Great Truck, I have had sports cars all my life, and this is my first truck. I have heard bad things about the breaks, but no problems for me. It has 45K on it and still all factory breaks. I use it for Off-road and on highway. Handles great no matter where I am. I have had the truck airborne while off road. Also have pulled Chevy, Ford, GM trucks out of the mud and sand with it... It may have something to do with the mud tires I have on it, but i'm very happy with the ability. It looks like all of my complaints about the truck are being assessed for the 04 model
