Toyota Tundra Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

Available in Regular cab, Double Cab and CrewMax styles, the Tundra also features three bed lengths, three engines, three wheelbases and a choice of 4X2 or 4X4 configurations.

The Tundra offers three engines and three cab sizes. Handling is relatively responsive, but the ride with the TRD package is stiff. The 5.7-liter V8 is very powerful. The tailgate is easy to raise and lower. A new 4.6-liter V8 replaced the old 4.7-liter for 2010.

Strength:

Power, looks, reliability, very well built. Much better than all the competition has to offer.

Weakness:

Uhmmm... maybe a little more back seat space?

Overall great truck. Zero problems. Super reliable like all Toyotas! For those who think they have brake problems: Get rid of the cheap factory tires and get some Michelins. Get them properly balanced and your "warped rotor" feel will go away! its not the brakes man! My Tundra has almost 50K miles on it and the original brakes are still in good shape.

Ride. Performance. Looks.

Weakness:

Stereo weak. SMALL backseats. Small bed. Gas mileage.

Nice truck. Wished I would have held out for the Double cab coming in '04.

Great truck, but not the family vehicle I planned on it being. Like I said, can't wait for the '04. (If I can swallow the trade in ...)

Strength:

Great power and performance. Handles great. The towing power that this truck has for only being a 4.7 is amazing. Add a exhust and K&N filter and you will be performing with the best of them. Or even better.

Weakness:

The ping in the engine when towing. High Octane is a must with towing. other than that great truck.

This is an overall great truck. Great gas mileage and tows with the best of them. It is true that the back seat is a little small but its a truck. Very quick and out performs my cousins dodge dokota. Forgien is the way to go if you wanna stay away from the dealer.

Strength:

No strengths compared to the competitors. Especially with the design changes with the big three trucks. But does ride and handle well on flat roads. Bouncy on rough roads. Any positives are over shadowed by the problems.

Weakness:

Extremely bad brakes. 5 complete brake re-do's in three years. Soft mushy brake peddle. Although I can't prove it caused a rear end collision. First time in 30 + years of driving that I hit someone in the rear. The brakes weren’t there when I needed them. Many quite recalls. Bad brakes, CD player, shocks, dip stick, design flaws inside and out. Engine noise Cold-blooded transmission, up shifts to soon when cold, ok when warmed up. The Tundra will leave you sitting at stop light with no throttle response due to poor design in the throttle body sensors. None of the vaunted Toyota quality and religability in this truck.

I feel sorry for the Dealers that have to deal with all the problems and angry owners. Fortunately my dealer has been great. But they have to deal with poor design and build quality just as we owners do. I will not buy another Tundra, and may not buy any other Toyota either. Toyota should fess up to the design flaws and treat us in an honest and straightforward manner. I have had to replace the CD player, shocks, seat belts, and put up with bad brakes, noisy tappets, weird unexplained noises, clunks and rattles and a wrong sized dip stick. My truck is in the shop today as I am writing this for the throttle body sensor malfunction that left me sitting at a traffic light. Toyota's extended leaves a lot to be desired. Very UN cooperative. So do yourself a big favor and buy something.

The only thing I reall wanted to comment on was when I had the truck for the first week or so I noticed that whenever I started the truck and put it in park or reverse I would hear a thunk sound coming from the front right fender. I took it into the local dealer and they told me that it was the ABS System going through self test. What Crap!! Com'on a 2003 and Toyota is going to over look this...I'm continuing to follow-up.

Great truck.

Weakness:

everone seems to complain about the back seat is small but i dont drive from the back, oil filter leaks on skid pan,i took all that stuff off and left off, looks better anyway, clock hard to see, better than no clock, trans shifs hard, brakes shake, noises, squeeks, this is a TRUCK, if you think this one is bad drive any of the other brands for a few years, this truck is tops.

look at the bottom (similar products) comming from the old school this truck is great, they even have a hold down for the floor mats on the drivers side, i tow a trailer, load it down with concret block just use the hell out of it, has not let me down yet.

Strength:

V8(very quick), smooth ride, great handling, comfortable seats, roomy for front seaters, beautiful truck. 4 seats and 6 cup holders...can't beat it.

Weakness:

extended cab is too short, back seats very uncomfortable, front seats could use more settings, thin paint(chips easily)

Bought the truck and a week later drove from California to Virginia. Very comfortable ride the whole way(and I'm 6'1"). Since have moved with my truck to England. 20,000 miles and haven't had any of the problems being mentioned. Love the power in the V8. I put a flowmaster and a K&N filter on it and it is quicker and sounds better than any American truck I've driven. Also I get great gas milage. Only things I see wrong are the back seat needs more room and needs some kind of angle to it. The belt started sqeaking when I got to England(probably do to the salt on the roads). A little WD40 silenced it. I agree the paint is a little thin, and the seats could use a few more settings. Other than that, no complaints. Looks great, drives great, sounds great. Dealership couldn't have been better. They did everything right and went completely out of their way to take care of me.

Strength:

Powereful engine and quiet interior. Good on gas for a v-8 (14 average). nice looking and easy to drive because it can fit down narrow roads better than a domestic fullsize.

Weakness:

soft suspension in front bottoms out on mild off-road dips. Transmission shifts harder now. I have had a few problems and I am extremely dissapointed because toyotas aren't supposed to have this many. Here they are:four-wheel drive actuator switch, both manifold gaskets, mass air flow sensor, defective seat belt, cheap tires (dunlop), 20% of the dash lights went out (hard to see at night). Although most of these were covered under warranty (around $2500) I am nervous because my warranty is almost up and the dealer tells me that my transmission is fine. I wonder now if they should have built them in Japan...I would pay a little more for better reliabillity like most foreign cars are known for.

a great truck on road and on the beach although the trd my friend owns is a much, much better off road vehicle and eats up pot holes better, and it has less body roll on road in corners.

Strength:

Quick, powerful, smooth acceration. Automatic trans shift very smooth. Quite & everyting fits perfectly. Great turning radius.

Weakness:

THE BRAKES! With less than 18,000 miles, I am already experiencing the front end shimmy of warpped rotors. I was told by the Toyota dealership.... this is caused by downhill braking! Seriously! I shudder to think of the consequenses of not using the equipment for that very purpose! The truck should come with a warning...can only be driven on flat land! Also, those alloy rims are cheap junk. Fix those two, Toyota, and in my opinion, your truck is perfect. FIX THE BRAKE PROBLEM!

Great truck...almost too good for a work truck, though. Changed brands due to the overall positive reviews and great looks and haven't been dissapointed. Reliable, Compfortable, good looking, and an excellant ride!
