Double Cab v6 TRD 4x4
Strength:
Solid feel, room of a sedan in back seat, very capable in off road situations, smooth at highway speeds.
Weakness:
Very annoying dash rattle in drivers side (I''ve tried since the 3rd day to find, no luck), slight throttle hesitation when accelerating, slight clunk in rear axle when going over curb, discolored plastic A pillar piece. Only 900 miles so far and for the most part, I''m satisfied. Love the extra room with the four doors, 5 feet of bed is enough for most uses. Similar Products Used: 97 Tacoma v6 extra cab - great truck, no rattles, clunks, very responsive throttle and acceleration. Hope new one breaks in like this 97. |

Strength:
Great looking truck. Refined V6 and tranny. Good ground clearance. Fit and finish seem top notch. No squeaks or rattles (yet). Good dash layout, guages are easy to read and hvac/stereo controls easy to use. Excellent resale value.
Weakness:
Interior is a little plain looking, but definately not ugly. My left leg feels a little cramped (too close to the door). Due to the limited time I''ve owned this truck, nothing else to mention. If something develops good or bad I will try to add it to my review later. I just bought this truck (4-Door, Double Cab, TRD Edition, V6, phew...) over the past weekend so this review may be a bit premature. It is replacing a 98 std cab Tacoma that I had for almost 5 years. I really enjoyed my little, trouble free 98, but it was bare bones and cramped. I must say this new double cab seems to be a great "upgrade". I quess what I''m really enjoying the most over my old Taco is the space in the cabin and the V6 coupled with the smooth 4-speed automatic transmission. I can''t complain about the ride, it''s nice and stiff the way a truck should be. Can''t wait to get it on some trails. Similar Products Used: 1985 GMC Jimmy, 1998 Toyota Tacoma standard cab. |

Tacoma
Strength:
Excelent power and gets relitevely good MPG. Supercharger is a great strength. If you need extra power or just want to beat tricked out hondas the $2800 is worth it.
Weakness:
None This is a really great truck. Plenty of power with the 3.4 liter V6. Excellent off road capability and very reliable. Its the only truck that comes with the rear locker standard with the TRD package. I''ve added a TRD air filter and a supercharger. This is a great combination. I now am able to make 250 hp instead of 190. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger-not even close to as good. |

Toyota Tacoma Double Cab SR5 TRD V6 4x2
Strength:
Good strong engine. The double cab is nice cause i can fit me (6''2" with plenty of head room) and 3 other guys comfortably. once again, the looks.
Weakness:
The clock is oddly placed. The ride is a little rough, but i guess thats what you get when the stiffer suspension that comes with the TRD option. So far this truck has been great. I haven''t had it that long, but so far i am very pleased. The price was a little higher than i planned on going, but i heard so many good things about toyota, i.e.: reliability, long lasting, and tough. And i really like how they look. Strength:
Low depreciation costs, comfortable to drive (seats are great and ergonomics are slightly cramped but comfy), low maintanence costs (so far). Fuel economy is slightly better than North American V8''s. Head and shoulders above any other compact p/u on the market.
Weakness:
The skid plate isn''t exceptionaly strong. Truck bounces around alot on rough dirt/logging roads, takes a bit to adjust to. Back seat is marginally large enough for a person. Paint in box rubs off easily (consider bedliner). Box is too small, tailgate won''t close with an ATV in the back. This has been a reliable work truck for the last year and sees regular off road use(about 1/3 of its km''s are on logging rds). Although not as tough as my last GMC, a Toyota definately has lower operating costs . Purchace price is canadian $. Similar Products Used: 95 GMC 4x4 3/4t diesel |

the only dependable truck over 100,000. i wouldn''t dare buy another truck from uncle sam!
Weakness:
I find myself crying after a long days work spent with my buddy YOTA! No problems with my toyota trucks. I have had several work trucks in the past 18 years of hauling, started with fords and i was lucky to get 80,000 out of those had a dodge and at a little over 100,000 it gave out, but i have caught myself keeping my toyotas for 270-300,000 miles and only selling them because i wanted something newer! Strength:
Quality (I hope...). Room, for truck of this size. I love the back seat. My kids love this truck a lot better than my previous F150. Spirited engine. Locking Diff. COOL.
Weakness:
I''m 6''2", my leg hits the 4x4 shift lever while driving. Know real good way to relax my right leg while driving. Biggest bummer. The seat sucks! And this is a Limited w/electric lumbar. Save the money. Toyota makes crappy seats considering the price. Bummber. I''ve had this problem in other Toyotas. If it weren''t for the seat hurting my rear-end, this truck would get a solid 5 stars. I''m currently trying to figure out what to do to the seat to make it better. Any ideas would be appreciated. After market seats? I like this truck a lot. The double cab lets my kids ride comfortably. Seems to be a real solid little truck. I purchased with a very nice shell that compliments the truck nicely. The power is nice. Don''t have a good mpg yet. Ride is rough, but then again, it''s a TRD 4x4. Off road it''s awesome. Similar Products Used: Ford F150. No compaints on that truck either. Kids complained about the lack of room in extended cab. Very capable truck. |

Toyota Tacoma
Strength:
Good HVAC system. Nice driving vehicle. So far, it runs flawlessly.
Weakness:
A bit cramped inside. Thin sheet metal. I bought this Toyota based upon the manufacturer''s reputation for reliability, and for the low price. I work construction, and need a durable vehicle with good gas milage. Previously, I have driven Chevy''s for 17+ years. So far, the little Tacoma is doing well. It is reliable, and gets decent milage. I got the small 4 cylinder motor, and the 5 speed transmission. It has adequate power, for my puropses. Even on long interstate trips through the mountains, the motor pulls well, and rarely needs to be down-shifted. The engine is, however, a bit noisy, especially in the higher RPM''s. I love the HVAC system. The air is super, and the heater is very strong. The truck drives well, but could stand to have a bit more head-room. I am 6''-2" and my head touches the head liner. My only real complaint would be that the sheet metal, especially in the box, is thin, and dents easily. I buckled a panel on the tail-gate just by stepping on it, and have already dented the exterior by merely loading cargo. Over all, I like my little Toyota, and would buy another. tacoma ext cab v6 TRD
Strength:
V6, large tires/rims, good looks, rides high, 4x4 ability.
Weakness:
rough riding, transmits every bump in the road, seats uncomfortable, hurts my back on trips of any lenght, tramsmission lurches in first gear, and of course the dash board rattle. Great truck, looks, power, tight finish, bought it for toyota''s legendary reliability. Similar Products Used: 1994 toyota 4X4, 2.2.re |

Prerunner V6
Strength:
Smooth. Looks nice. Nice rims. Good quality.
Weakness:
All the puny people ask to borrow your truck to haul stuff. Sluggish. Gas guzzler. Shoulda bought it in houston. Front bumper is flimsy. I like my truck. I like it alot. Although it''''s used mostly for on road driving, it seems smoother when riding on dirt. So far, quality seems fine no leaks or major breakdowns to speak of. The driver side door is starting to creak and there''''s a squeeking noise when the engine is turning, but those only started recently. Looks nice and the tall ride is safer than riding inches off the ground. Similar Products Used: Ford F150 |
