Strength:

Looks, styling, reliablity, and resale value

Weakness:

gas mileage could be a bit better and the price is a little steep

A good vehicle - quiet, sturdy, reliable, good looking! A bit procey for what you get - but after all, you are paying for piece of mind - its a dependable truck. It rides good and haven;t had one problem with anything. 100 times better than my previous vehicle (Jeep Grand Cherokee)

Strength:

Fairly comfortable seating. Accessories & gages lay out are OK.

Weakness:

4 cyl 142 HP is under powered. Jiggly ride. Horn goes off when truck is driven over bumps. Rattling under dash at passenger air bag. Not getting 22 - 25 estimated MPG.

Only owned truck for 3 months, but disappointed. Jiggly ride, under powered engine. Horn goes off over bumps. Rattles under the dash. Rough automatic transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Poor milage for a small 4 cylinder.

Strength:

-Solid off road capabilities - it''s no poser -Excellent ground clearance -Retains value well -Legendary reliability -Good room in cockpit

Weakness:

Nothing serious, just a few minor bugs: -Suspension can get the hula going on the interstate w/ large loads on the camper top -Gas mileage could be a bit better -Back seat minimal - good for small friends -Seats are alright but could benefit from better side bolsters

This truck rocks! Excellent off road abilities. I''ve pulled hopelessly stuck Grand Cherokees and Xterras out w/ no problem. The TRD w/ locking differential is worth it IMO. I''ve got mine set up w/ an ARE shell w/ Yakima roof racks for hauling boats & bikes - sleeps nice in the back but I wish the bed was maybe 2-3 inches longer. I''m 6''3" so it''s real tight w/ the gate up. I''ve had some monster loads of kayaks on the roof driving on interstate and rutted out old logging roads & the V6 has plenty of power. Do yourself a favor, get one!

Strength:

Fit,detail, performance, and overall a great looking truck.

Weakness:

none as of yet. I have owned 3 toyota 4x4''s and have yet to be dissapointed.

The best truck on the market! This truck is solid, tight and economical for a 190 hp v6. It has everything you could want in a small truck and the others (nissan, dodge etc.) just do not compare. I checked them all with test drives and a lot of research.Do yourself a favor and buy this truck if you are in the market. The long term reliability and high resale more than account for the more expensive up-front cost.

Strength:

proven ability, reliability, resale value. reasonably priced.

Weakness:

not a lot of room in cab.

This is the proven leader in mini 4wd''s. Others have their strong points, but dollar for dollar you can not beat the toiletota. I tow a boat with it, I drive it on soft sand beaches, and I take it to work every day. No problems in any regard. This is the same basic design Toyota came out with umphteen million years ago, but it was great when it premiered and after years of improvements it has only gotten better! It has great resale value, it never brakes, and loves to do the hard jobs. This truck is no pretend off roader, it''s the real deal. You could pay a lot more for a vehicle with much less ability to get things done. If your interested in a time tested off roader with ambitions, look no further. If you just want to look rugged and handle some occasional snow there are a boatload of overpriced suv''s to choose from (Ford explorer, RAV4, Forester, Sportage) all good for crusin'' pavement and looking like a sporty woodsgoer. But make sure you have triple a''s # handy if you wander into the real off-road.

Strength:

Good looks, Good fit and finish, Toyota reliability, Strong engine performance for a relatively small v6. Rides well even if it is a little stiff, it''s supposed to be, it''s a truck. Interior is not bad and pretty well appointed overall. The seats that many complain are uncomfortable, are just fine for me, probably because I''m just a little over 5''9" and the entire interior is in scale with me.According to off road reviews I''ve read this truck is tough and not just a poser. The automatic transmission is supposed to be one of the best in the business and I don''t doubt it. It''s smooth and has several means of adjusting the shifting to accomodate the load conditions.I did pick up the rattle behind the passenger side airbag that others have mentioned at around 1,000 miles and it went away at around 1,600 miles. Some had mentioned a wet floor from leaking but I had none of that and I picked the truck up after several days of heavy rain.Nothing but good so far, knock on wood. I think the sound system is fine though many may feel it lacking. When it''s common to find 500 watt stereos in trucks these days, this system won''t do it for everyone, but for me, if music is going to be a pri

Weakness:

Some have noted the tinny or lightness of the sheetmetal guage and I won''t dispute that, but I know that they don''t make them like they used to and that doesn''t just apply to Toyota but to practically everything and everybody. Welcome to the real world. Gas mileage could be better. I''d like to see it at least in the low twenties, but I''m averaging 17 to 19 just like the sticker says. Comes out to approx 270 miles per tank if I leave around 2.5 gallons left.(18.5 gal capacity)Seems amazing when I know a friend of mine who has a Ford F250 with the big 460ci v8 gets 14mpg and I, with a 3.4lv6 can only do 4mpg better. Some have complained the inside of the cab is a little small and not much room for the legs but that hasn''t been the case for me and that again is only do to my smaller stature. Anyone over six feet tall is going to be pressed for headroom. I like the small intimate nature of the cab. The truck is also just a little bit noisy inside and it''s obvious some money was saved on sound deadening but it really isn''t obtrusive

This truck is an xtra cab prerunner model with the 3.4L v6. It had a full compliment of options including the SR5 trim package and the TRD offroad package. Looks exactly like the 4wd model without the weight and complexities of the xtra driveline gear. I don''t need 4wd so I didn''t see the point in paying for it. It does have the locking rear differential option which comes standard with the TRD package, so it won''t be helpless off road in a jam if it comes to that. It''s a very sharp looking rig in silver and black(lunar mist in Toyota talk) but it''s also the most common color on the road, so I''m going to have to trick it out somehow to make it a little different. I started with the addition of the snugtop cap that can be ordered throughToyota, but I bought it from a camper shell place the same day I picked up the truck. Toyota asks almost $1,800 dollars for the cap and I payed $1,375. The whole package is very classy looking and most people when guessing how much it was, are typically 3 to 5 thousand over in their estimate. One of my friends who bought a Honda CRV before I bought the Toyota is disappointed she bought it now and feels I got the much more for my money when comparing prices. I''ve put 3,510 miles on it as of this review and everyone of them has been a pleasure. Probably the nicest vehicle I''ve ever owned.

Weakness:

Seats, clock, auto tranny is the only option for the double cab, speakers in the front. the Ext cab has 6 1/2 and this one has 4x6''s or something like that

I got a steal on this one so you guys will have to shop a little better. I have been thinking of selling it for a Chevy (again) but thanks to you guys, I am going to keep it. I just wanted a little more room. I am 6''2 and want some more room. I think most of it can be attributed to the terrible seats. Of course the clock sucks. This thing is impossible to get stuck, but I wish I would have purchased the ABS. Back seats "ok" comfy front ones suck. I have a little tick and it drives me crazy. I think the supercharger would help out a lot (because of the auto trans).

Very small cab, is tight for three. Have to run it strong on long hills.

A good little truck! Very fun to drive, it lite wieght. Tight steering, with a very truck feel. For a four it is snappy at getting up to speed. The 4x4 is very fun for getting off road handles very well good stock ground clearence. Very easy to trick out.

Strength:

Reliability!!!!! Great in snow, mud, rough roads, and can be driven 80-90 MPH all day long. Handles far better than any full size at speed. Resonable MPG.

Weakness:

First year or two models were shy on ground clearance, shocks and springs a little weak for continous rough driving.

This Tacoma has been unbelievably reliable! When I think back the only warranty issue was a wabbling speedo and easily replaced. It never gets plugged in even when it gets to 30 below and starts like it was warmed up already.
