Strength:

Dependable

Weakness:

PAINT - it went bad after 3 years, after a $800 paint job it still looks new AIR PUMP - it rusted out 3 times RADIO - died after 3 years ALTERNATOR - It died once and would not accent anything but a Nissan replacement EMMISSIONS - I always had to get something tweaked at the shop for it to pass.

I put 221,000 miles on this vehicle and it still runs fine. The problems have been minimal to none and there seems to be a warning before they happen, a noise or just a gut feeling. Enough to get to a repair shop. The V6 automatic is was the right choice. It has plenty of power for your average driver

Model Reviewed: SE v6 Desert Runner

Strength:

Everything! Looks, comfort (five star rating there), ameneties, style, reliability (Nissan= truly legendary), ergonomics

Weakness:

Underpowered (can we have 200+ horses next time?), paint scratches easily, bed rails dent easily

I love this truck! I shopped Chevy, Toyota, GMC etc., all the "American Greats", and for the price I paid for the Frontier you get chopped liver from other makers. The SE Desert Runner I got came in Solar Yellow, and had power windows/locks, 6 cd changer, luxury package, adjustable steering wheel, sliding rear window, bed liner, fog lamps, 16 inch wheels, ABS, 4x4 chassis (though it''''s a 2 wheel drive), runner boards, body color fenders and mirrors, steering wheel mounted radio controls, cruise control etc. etc. In the $20,000 range, the chevy s10 I looked at came with a tape deck! No power NUTHIN'''', no bed liner, just your basic stripped down mid size pickup. Same with the Toyotas I looked at. I got great financing, and now I have a truck that fits me like a glove. The ergonomic design of the Frontiers is awesome, whenever I think "If I built a truck..." they already did it. Everything feel very natureal and there''''s nothing that you think ''''Why did they do THAT?!?" On the down side, the truck is definetely the class laggard when it comes to power. The Toyota and Chevy definitely outstrip the Frontier when it comes to shear muscle. You gotta lay into the Forntier to get anything approaching "exhilirating" acceleration, and even then it''''s a little dissapointing. I go to the snow a lot, so would like to trade up to a 4x4. Otherwise, like everyone sez, get the supercharged version if you can afford it. Basically, though, I couldn''''t really be any happier with this truck. Sure, i won''''t be winning any drag races woth it, and some people just despise the styling (especially when they see my bright yellow version), but for me, variety is the spice of life. This truck comes with ALL the amenities. I would strongly reccomend this truck to anyone who spends most of their driving time commuting or driving around town, but still needs to be able to haul a refrigerator or stove or make the occasional trip to the dump. This definietely ain''''t and offroad hero, it''''s an "in town" truck that is more than capable of the occaisional trip to Home Depot for plywood. Be realistic with yourself, get the truck that you need, not the dually with the Triton v8 that makes you look like some urban cowboy schmuck. You won''''t be sorry!

Strength:

Reliable, handles well (I commute 60 miles every day), rides good.

Weakness:

Those sporty running boards are very slippery when wet/icy. I have slipped off many times and no longer use them.

This truck was purchased new. It has 73,000 miles on it with no problems so far. It handles well, even when having to manuever around crazy drivers, snow situations, etc. We are looking for another vehicle, ONLY because of the high miles and the "deals" out there right now. I''d like to get another Nissan, but did not have a good experience purchasing the one I have.

Strength:

Finally a vehicle that comes from the factory with a roots type blower! Very very powerfull, Great visual sight for front and rear passengers. Superb Sound System. Great Body Styling Lines. Class III Towing Capability. Sound Insulated. Very Quiet Transaxle & Motor. Able to Climb faster than the competition.

Weakness:

Rear Leaf Springs tend to have a hard ride when not loaded. Carpets could be a little thicker.

Any Automobile Enthusiast will Love this ride! I recently took an extremely long 4 day road trip and the only vehicles on the road in a heavy heavy downpour were my Exterra and a few Semi''s. (they were in the slow lane), This SUV rocks!

drinks fuel at 70+mph, uh,.... that''s about it

I''m very impressed! I use this truck at work, it''s a parts delivery truck for a Nissan dealer. When I got it, it had 164,000 miles on it, after a week in my hands, it had 165,100 miles on it, all city, in hot Houston. I can''t wait to put another 1,000 on it this week. When the dealer finally sells this little guy, I''ll be first in line.

Strength:

Great looking truck. I get a lot of looks when driving. Good ride, decent power. Good stock Stereo system.

Weakness:

Gas Milage.

Since the new body style had come out late in the fall of 2000 I was looking to buy a new Frontier. Now that I have one I couldn''t be more pleased. The power is good from the standard V6. It isn''t a rocket but it will pass a car if need be. I especially like the ride. It isn''t like most trucks. It soaks up a few bumps. It also has a good stock Stereo. An 6 disc in dash CD player makes a long trip a bit nicer. The only complaint I have is the gas milage is a bit poor. About 14 in town 18 hwy. Maybe some aftermarket adds will help that.

Model Reviewed: SE Crew Cab 4x4

Strength:

Great looks, good offroad performance, back seats offer decent room for all sized people if you move the front seats up a little. The 6 disc cd changer is nice, but I wish the stereo has more power. Steering wheel controls/CC Controls are a nice touch. Engine could be stronger, but it''''s not too bad. Turning off the AC gives it noticebly more power.

Weakness:

Well, something about the paint, which I''''ve seen brought up in other reviews. It scratches very, very easily. Touch-up paint doesn''''t exactly match up and looks bad when applied. When I get enough scratches, I''''ll just take it to a body shop and get them to fix them all The seats also stain easily. Gas mileage isn''''t the best, but then again most trucks suck at that.

Overall, the Frontier has impressed me. I think it''''s the best looking truck on the road. It definitely gets the looks anywhere I go. It has decent power, but you should go for the supercharged model if you can afford it. This truck is slightly overpriced, as with all Nissan vehicles.

Model Reviewed: XE 4cylinder Regular Cab

Strength:

Impressive looks. Quite speedy (for a 4cylinder truck). Overall fun to drive. Has very nice sounding engine. Overall excellent truck!

Weakness:

Unfortunately Nissan overdid there "compactness". Although the car is a midsize, it takes up every inch of space thats avalible. I have take it to about three different aftermarket sound stores and everytime one of the sales man go out to see it I get the same response, "WOW thats tight!"

The overall truck is a great buy, iiiiiiiif you are looking for a truck. If you would like something to buy and upgrade, then you might have a little trouble, especially fitting in large aftermarket speakers (subwoofers) and unless you are willing do a blow through and sacrafice your cars trade in value, then you might want to reconsiderand get the extended cab, because believe me, its way to tight to fit in any "worth while" aftermarket material.

Strength:

I like the smooth ride and look.

Weakness:

My regular cab is a pretty tight squeeze (especially w/ a bazooka tube behind it!). Wish it was a bit faster...

I enjoy my frontier. I purchased it about 6 monthes ago. It's a Regular Cab XE 4 cylinder/standard transmission Frontier. The 143hp is nice, but i'm looking into putting some performance mods on it. So far, alls i've done is tint windows, upgrade soundsystem (AIWA MP3 CD-Deck, Infinity Perfect component system, and a 6" 150-watt powered bazooka tube). If anyone has any frontier performance links or knows of any good mods, please e-mail me. Also wondering if there is a supercharger that can be put on the 4 cyl.
