SE V6 4x4 LB Prem. Sound
Strength:
Double Cab, Long Bed, Radio Controls on steering wheel. Drive is better than average, 4 wheel drive, Looks great. A total pkg for a reasonable price. Unlike the the Toyota and sport trac. Great experience with the dealership.
Weakness:
Bad gas milage. Cheap sun visors. Poor CD storage compartment and change holder. Seems like the sound system should be louder. I have had the truck for just over a month. The long bed rocks. It''s as long as a full size double cab. Drove into the Mts. and it drove like a gem. There was a little more body role and diving during braking. However it rides much better than it''s competition. Including Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, Chevy and Mazda. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, and Ford Explorer Sport Trac |

SE Crew Cab, V6 Auto.
Strength:
Looks good, Dealership always willing to repair and friendly (Beth at Pohanka in Fredericksburg, VA)
Weakness:
No power (V6) Drinks gas, no room in back seats, Popping noises, engine valves rattle constantly, Transmission shifting. This is the worst truck I have ever owned. Problems, Problems, Problems. No power, eats fuel, valves rattle, elec. window problems, Transmission dosen''t change sometimes in cold. Currently 26,000 miles, and babied. If I could trade it in and not loose a fortune, it would go today. Similar Products Used: 1986 Nissan, ran forever, never a problem, thought I was getting the same product. |

Frontier Crew Cab V6
Strength:
Fair 1st and 2nd gear acceleration. Nice standard shifter. It''''s all down hill from there.
Weakness:
WEAK. WEAK. WEAK. If you don''''t want every weakling on the planet throwing sand in you face stay away from this one. The plastic bumper is a TOTAL JOKE on a truck. The first speck and bug that hit it will leave black plastic showing under the paint! Rear seat room is also a joke. Gas mileage is a joke. I have since passed this lemon on and purchased a REAL truck - Tundra V8 and there is only 2 MPG diff. and TONS of difference in Power. Due to Nissan''''s advertising as ''''part jet fighter part street fighter'''' every thing on the road wants to see what you got. And what you got is DIDDLY! Panel vans and Hundais will embarass you! The thing is goverened at 94 MPH!!! 1''''st and 2n''''d gear are only good to 35mph and it accelerates like a SLUG from there. Even rain water can leave a permanent stain on the seats despite Nissans claims of a protection package that you pay extra for. Also, BEWARE of the item on the sticker listed as EDM (app. $900). Afer extensive research I found out what it stood for ...Extra Dealer Markup! The Nissan extended warranty costs almost $1000 and has a $50 deductable. I got longer and better coverage with no deductable for my Tundra f This is the WORST POS truck I have ever owned or been around. Do your self a favor DON''''T !!!! It''''s WEAK, This thing is a SLUG! It has a PLASTIC bumper bumper for crying out loud! This alone should tell you what kind of truck it is. I could only stand 3 months worth before trading it. Gas mileage Noisy interior at highway speeds Great truck. 4x2 truck on a 4x4 platform. Nice feel. All power - Pwr steering, Pwr brakes, Pwr mirrors, Pwr Wdws, Cruise, tilt, 5-speaker with subwoofer AM/FM/Cass/CD stereo, leather wrapped steering wheel, fog lamps, step rails, sliding rear glass, bed liner, 15" wheels, 4-wheel ABS, etc. I''ve had it since Novemember of 1999. Great truck. Never a problem. Smooth shifting, smooth handling, smooth. Gas mileage could be better and interior noise is too much. |

XE Frontier 4X4
Strength:
4 doors to fit people and gear. Great new sound system. It actually has a useful roof rack...but in my case, my garage is so small, I can''t stick my bike racks on it! Another great feature is the new full sized bed. The problem I had with some of the other 4 door trucks (ie Ford) is that they had small beds...which it makes worthless buying one of these trucks with a small bed (ie Ford).
Weakness:
Could do a little better on gas mileage, and the back seat is a little snug...but better than no seat at all. It''s a little short on the power from the engine, but it works great for my needs. Owned a 2001 SE Frontier 4X2 for a year and loved it...but feel in love with the new 2002 XE Frontier 4X4 Crew Cab. It was a little more than I wanted to pay..but I''m still young! Came fully stocked with the new 300watt stereo system, newly designed interior (but liked the old look just the same). With all the deals going on for 0%, I checked everybody out, and Nissan still had a better truck and deal for my needs. This truck has a look that is much different from everyone else, so if you want to stand out, this is the truck to get. It''s January and there still isn''t any snow here, so I can''t say how well it does in the snow and 4X4. This is the second Frontier i''ve owned an not one problem. From what I hear, if I take good care of this truck, it will last me many years. Similar Products Used: Chevy s-10, GMC Sonoma |

Strength:
Good basic economical transportation. You can haul quite a load of stuff. I''ve had very few mechanical problems, but I drive pretty mellow... The seats are comfy, with good headrest/crash protection. Jumpseats are handy Timing CHAIN does not need to be replaced, unless it breaks!
Weakness:
Large four cylinder should not be compared to "Honda civic" gas mileage. No tie down area in my bed. Why is the gas filler on the passenger side? Acceleration is not impressive (and shouldn''t be for a truck anyways) Skids easily in snow, unless weighted in the rear and I have studded snows on all four wheels. The Nissan Pickup is a great light truck with a 2.4 litre 4 banger that is very smooth. I have had dealer warranty service for the speedo head and the rear axle differential seal. Other than that it''s just fluid, filter and spark plug changes on reasonable schedule. The truck is geared according to use so you won''t be pole position, but it drives the same whether your empty or hauling 1000 lbs of whatever - I overloaded it once and it had no problem other than fully bottoming out at the rear axle! Similar Products Used: Our work fleet consists of Chrysler, Ford, GM trucks and vans - why? They make the BIG ones! They''re good for something I suppose. |

Weakness:
Lousy gas mileage for a 4 cyl.,brakes make a groaning sound, thin paint Nice vehicle for the money. Value truck package gives you lots of stuff (air, buckets, cd player, more...) for few $$$. Funky looking body cladding, but it grows on you and garners plenty of compliments. Capable truck for light duty hauling. Good fit and finish, OK ride and handling for a small truck. KC SE-V6 4X4
Strength:
Relibility, high speed handling gererally a fun and practicial vechicle.
Weakness:
Gas mileage, 5 hours of book labor to replace timing belt and soft paint. This is my third imported truck over the past 18 years and my confidence over "domestic" trucks is confirmed. It is used primarily as a second family vechicle and I am popular with friends. Currently at 185k, it uses no oil between oil changes traveling at 60-80 mph on a 135 daily commute. The ride was improved with better shocks and tires. Mileage is worse than any previously owned truck and when compared to current competition. Over all reliability has been great. at 80K the abs module was replaced. At 82K and 95k the exhaust manifold bolts were replaced (right side, then left). My disappointment was with the dealer. Under warrantee, three times I mentioned that I heard ticking. Each time I was told it was normal. After the warrantee ran out when the abs module was being replaced, I was told I have a ticking caused by broken bolts. I turns out that Nissan had issued TSB on the very issue. My local mechanic actually stocks a replacement and stronger bolt for all the 3.0 engines. At the time he was doing approximately 3 vechicles a week. The fuel pump went at 120K and the altunator was replaced at 155K. Some paint repair was done under warrantee and the body is has some very minor rust bubbles. Not bad for an outside vechicle in the north east. The bumpers are another story, they started to rust on the inside during the first year and nothing I did would stop it. The front bumper has rusted through. Over all I wopuld say the truckl has exceeded my expectations and would buy another depending on competitive pricing.
