Strength:

The Frontier looks cool! The lights on the front of the truck make it sporty. The windows are tinted and dark enough that nobody can see my amp or speakers. It gets good gas milage and the back bed is big enough to fit my four wheeler. I can see higher than ever before.

Weakness:

No complaints at the moment.

The overall design is tight!

Strength:

Not one wheel has fallen off

Weakness:

Engine rattles very badly when started. I took it to the dealer twice. They say the noise is normal. I've heard other Frontiers, it is not! It is underpowered, but I knew that when I bought it, so no complaints

This truck has ups and downs. One day it seems like it's running fine, the next it runs like a noisy farm tractor. This is my first Nissan, and pronobly my last. I personally feel let down by the gas mileage. And also the dealer. I trust the Nissan deler to know the caar and take care of it, especially with the higher costs that I pay. But, they do not. In fact, they caused my brakes to start pulsing during a routine brake inspection, and then told me it would be $230 to fix it. The truck is way too noisy. The transmission makes a very scarry clanging noise, that what do you know, the dealer hasn't noticed. If I didn't have so much negative equity on the vehicle, I'd trade it in.

Model Reviewed: Frontier Desert Runner

Strength:

Good handling on road and off road Respectable cargo capacity for a compact pickup No problems with the truck so far Lots of compliments from the ladies Easily customized

Weakness:

A little heavier than I thought- almost 2 tons Bedliner rattles sometimes Too much equipment to quiet the engine down (i.e. 4 airboxes) Guzzles gas like a drunk at a beer chugging contest

The Desert Runner is an awesome truck for city driving or off-roading. It lives up to what Nissan designed it after, prerunner trucks used in Baja races. I've had no problems in heavy snow and dirt, even hill climbing, despite it being a 2x4. With a supercharger, custom exhaust, and cold air intake, I've had no problems with power. The gas mileage however, is a little low, but thats offset by the compliments I get (mostly from the ladies :) ) This is not a truck for your typical neck who thinks 4 wheel drive and way oversized trucks are the best things since a trailer hitch; but the intelligent, fun-loving, person who needs to haul once in a while will like this compact truck.

Model Reviewed: /Frontier Crew Cab 5sp Man.

Strength:

Crisp and smooth shifting 5sp manual transmission. Good value. Unbeatable deal for the price. Nice stereo system.

Weakness:

Horrible power. Avoid the 170hp motor. With the AC on and just myself, this thing struggles. Not to talk of passengers or cargo. Probable will sell or trade in this truck if there's a more powerful 5sp import truck on the market. The bed is too long for the long bed and too short for the short bed. Nissan should make a single model with a shorter bed (than long bed) and more seating room in the back. Gas mileage could be better, especially for a 5sp, although it seems to be improving after 7K miles Truck came out of alignment. Dealer 'fixed' it but alignment is still off.

Not a bad overall truck. The value is unbeatable. Looked at the Toyota Tacoma but the price just turned me away, plus there is no 5sp in Tacoma crew cab. The Rockford stereo system rocks. I'm getting a lot of 'nice truck' compliments at the bike rides, especially from the ladies. Handling is OK although suspension gets bouncy sometimes.

Model Reviewed: Frontier Crew Cab SC LWB 4X4

Strength:

Great blower whine, sharp handling for a truck, sharp interior on the SC version, top notch fit and finish..both inside and out.

Weakness:

Gas mileage could be better than mid teens. Although it has true 4 whel ABS, I'd prefer a rear disc set-up.

Even after driving this truck for only about a week, it's easy to see...this thing just can't be beat for the money in its' class! The supercharged V6 has a fantastic blower whine and snaps into action when floored. Excellent interior and seats. The 300 watt, 9 spkr Rockford Fosgate 6 CD in-dash system really pumps out the bass. Handling is this trucks strong point...better than anything I've test driven. Can't wait to get this baby off-road. With an excellent 4X4 system including the rear LSD, it should be unstoppable. Others I've tested in class just can't compare to the nimble Nissan.

Model Reviewed: XE 4WD ext cab

Strength:

Tough, reliable, value, handling, stnd features, lot less $$ than Toyota

Weakness:

power, not much else

You cant beat this truck for the money...simply the best in terms of value. This truck is WAY less than the equivelant Toyota, with more stnd feature. Good mpg, GREAT seats w/ good lumbar, excellent off-road vehicle (have done quite a bit of serious 4X4 with NO mods and this truck rocks!!), can haul a hefty payload, handles great, excellent visibility, very reliable, starts like a charm...basically: I have 60K+ miles and this truck has been a great buy (really has held its value for resale!). The downsides are the power..I have the 4cyl and its pretty slow, replaced alternator at 60K.

Strength:

Reliability, engine smoothness, ride, handling, looks.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, power, squeaks, wind noise.

This is a very good truck under most circumstances. It handles well and the V-6 is very smooth. But it gets terrible gas mileage (18.4 average) and is slow. I knew that when I bought it though. Also, it has several nagging rattles and squeaks, most of which may come from my bedliner/tonneau. 41,000 miles so far with no troubles. I have upgraded the brakes (Raybestos cross-drilled rotors and pads) and shocks (KYB Monomax)and been happy with both.

Compared to all the other trucks it has every option and far below competetors price. Looks great and is awsome for the family drives.Has a big box for my tools.

Weakness:

Could have just a little more power

I love my truck and all the looks i get. Its s true mans truck. It has a thumpen Rockford Fosgate stereo and all the power features u need. Have only had it 2 months but i love every second behind the wheel. Could use more speed/power but have to remember its a 4x4 truck not a sports car.

Model Reviewed: Frontier XE King Cab 4 cyl

Strength:

Great style, excellent gas mileage (24-25) in stop-and-go traffic, A/C that can handle Florida heat.

Weakness:

Rough ride, need just a little more power.

I bought this truck new when I got a new job and needed a dependable vehicle for 50+ miles/day commute. This truck has met all my needs in the most demanding urban driving you can do - stop and go traffic. Its no stop-light drag racer, but I knew that when I bought it. It runs perfectly and has never had any problems in 1 1/2 years of driving. I have found that the way to get the best out of this engine is to keep the RPM''s between 2000 - 4000. It has exceeded all my expectations and I would highly recommend this truck to anyone. I got a good deal when I bought this truck because the 2001 model had just come out and no one seemed to want the older style body. That worked well for me since I think the late 1990''s - 2000 models were the best looking trucks that Nissan has ever made. But that''s just me. I previously owned a 1985 Toyota Xtra Cab that one of my sons is still driving. At last count it had 250,000+ miles and still going strong. I hope this Nissan does as well.
