Strength:

all power ammenities. I live in Asia and the price of gas here is quite high that's why I'm glad that this pick-up is disel powered. 3.2 liters to be exact.

Weakness:

Price tag. If this pick-up would be around $13500 in the U.S., then here in the Philippines in our currency(peso) you'd probably have to add 3 or 4 thousand bucks more. Lack of power. If you think that the US version is weak, think again... the Philippine version peaks just around 74kw.(below 100hp). Lack of torque, it could barely haul 2 jet-skis behind it!!! And they say this is a pick-up, hah! Even if this pick-up is powered by diesel it's still ineffecient. The front exterior almost didn't change.. still looks boxy. No bedliner on the back.

I've driven and owned a lot of pick-ups and there's nothing much about this pick-up. Lacks power, torque & design... so what's special about it??? Well, besides power ammenities, that's about it!

Ford F150-interior looks very rich, all power, aggressive exterior, lotsa power, great fuel hogger!
Ford Sport Trac- kid bro of F150 but it's a lot more efficient and it looks a bit nicer than the F150 and oh yeah, it's easier to park too!
Mazda B2500- probably the most affordable.
2000 Mitsubishi Strada4X4- great exterior looks. lacks power ammenities. It is also a turbo-disel but peaks at only around 100hp.
Isuzu Fuego4X4-cheap, lacks power and power ammenities.
Ford Ranger4X4-probably the most powerful in the small trucks category. Has a tow hook too!

Strength:

Perfect Size for my needs. QUALITY built.

Weakness:

Needs a bit more power and better fuel economy. Engine looks like it would be a mechanics nightmare.

I am a very hard person to please and so far with 2,000 miles on my new Frontier, I couldnt be happier. There are only two auto manufacturers that make a quality pickup, Toyota and Nissan. Although I feel that Toyota builds the best cars in the world, The Tacoma's ride was too harsh and the price was too high. The Nissan, although not perfect is more refined (but probably not as rugged- The Nissan is second best in quality behind the Toyota). Domestic products are more comfortable, powerful, and flashy, but lack the quality I seek. Nissan, Toyota, and Honda have all proven that a good, dependable product can be built in the USA. Wake up Detroit...!! As I said, I am very happy with my 2000 King Cab V6 4X4 and I highly recommend it.

Fit and finish are excellent. Handling and ride are excellent for a pickup (better than the 2wd Dodge I unloaded). The controls are well laid out. The Stereo is excellent. Fuel economy and power are average for a truck this heavy.

Strength:

Quality, Ride, get this....PERFORMANCE,

Weakness:

No Engine light under the hood, Cheap-ish Doors inside,

I've read countless reviews complaining about the lack of power, well I drove the Automatic and without question the performance was sluggish.
I opted for the 5 speed version and was very pleasently surprised at the added power from dragging a few hundered pounds less weight and actually being able to shift AFTER the power is available.

In other words the power band from this motor is well over 3,000 RPM so most of the time in the automatic it shifts prior to reaching its 170HP potential.

Otherwise the truk feels like just that. A truck, not a Cavalier with a bed (S-10).

Also the fit and finish is typically strong and well thought out. Little things like being able to put a 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi in the cup holder and its not in the way because the arm rest/ shifter setup alows enough clearence over the bottle.

The 6 disc CD Changer is adaqute and easy to use, Brakes feel strong, power steering is unobtrusive (sp?) and there is plenty of room in the back for my 2 kids.

The cro-magnan era parking brake does suck, Is it out far enough?

Overall this is really a fine SUV/Truck hybrid, Quality feeling is good, mileage rating is a little suspect 16-19 maybe if grandma drove it, but thanks to the added Spirit privided by the $1,200 price break on buying the 5 Speed, I have filled it up after only 301 miles of fun driving (15 miles per gallon).

I would reccomend this to anyone in the market for a sub 24,000 truck/SUV.

Enough room to carry 5 normal adults, great for kids, good power for towing and hauling cargo. Love the 4x4 appearance.

Weakness:

From what I've experience and read about, the master cyclinder will go out occasionally and thus making accidents very likely. blind sides on left and right sides. be care changing lanes. gas mileage is very poor. comparable to a V8.

braking system could cause serious injury. truck should be recalled before someone gets killed.

Strength:

This truck has the most desirable balance between power, performance, durability, fit, and reliability. Go to www.nissanfrontier.net for more info and opinions. This truck is the BEST TRUCK ON THE MARKET!

Weakness:

The only weaknesses I percieve is that this pickup is not marketed as well as it should be. Sure, if you want the same reliability with less power - Get the Toyota. If you want the cheapest piece of junk you can get for the least money - FORD is your answer. Why do you think they sell the most? Nissan could outsell Ranger anyday, but then again, if they did, their quality might go down because Nissan could get the FORD SYNDROME - QUANTITY, not quality, IS JOB 1.

As I stated before, this is the MOST BALANCED TRUCK ON THE MARKET! There are no comparisons. Nissan has positioned itself as a "We are more concerned about our product's reliability versus our output numbers. Sure, we can build/sell more, but the BEST is NOT always the best selling." You make the choice. I have had two Frontier so far and one Hardbody. These are great vehicles-PERIOD!

Ranger-NO COMPARISON: Ranger is cheap priced and CHEAP MADE! Ford has deemed pinging Rangers "UNFIXABLE". Many of Ford's autos began having major problems beginning with the 1998 model year.
S10's: Yeah, that 4.3 sure was nice! But the cheap fit, finish, and quality makes S10 a loser. Besides, with the simple mods to my Frontier, that 4.3 feeling is coming back.

Strength:

Good Looks. Power and upgradability.

Weakness:

Could have used a little more power

I have been driving this truck for about a year now. It has not fail me yet. I've driven it cross country (California to New Hampshire) with out any problem. With my wife and one kid the drive was very comfortable. After a year of ownership, I highly recommend this truck. I recently made a few modifications to include a Stillen after-cat, and intake system. It certainly made some improvement with the power. Now, how about getting the supercharger available...Stillen

Strength:

Good steering, No engine problems, great 4x4 even with cheesy tire bone stock it got me through some deep sh*t, Seat covers waterproof cant go wrong with those, runs great hot or cold 100mph on the interstate or 10mph through the woods

Weakness:

AC went out in about 3 months pinched tube from the factory fixed under warranty. Need a more powerful beteer mileage engine, maybe a Diesel. Little bitty tires. needs 2 solid axels for us off roaders. needs rear speakers. bench seat in the back (ala tacoma and ranger) not jump seats. didn't have the option to remove items on it before i bought it and dealer wouldnt let me special order one.

For aftermarket go to www.4x4parts.com

It is a great first truck one that a college grad can afford Easily and still have $ left at the end of the month to pay the rent the styling is not going to be surpassed by anyone b/c Nissan is staying on the edge with it, my truck is 3 years old and FOrd just designed there Rangers to look just like it. Get what you want this truck is great for the price though Dealers will always try and stick it to you thats when you walk away there are always more dealers or if you have a problem with them call the maker (1-800-NISSAN1) I love my Nissan I have been able to find nothing but loyal owners out there who praise there trucks You will love it too.

Awesome aesthetics definitely turns heads...Love thr interior room;not bad for a "truck". Love the in-dash 6-disc changer...very little interior noise.

Weakness:

Glaring weakness is that I've had to take it to the shop 5 times in the 2+ months I had it. 1st time: no problem found 2nd time:new O2 Sensor....3rd time: new Cat. Convertor....4th time: Ground wires...all caused by the Service Engine light coming on 1st day I had the truck...Could be a defect in this particular unit, inept mechanics at the dealership(Southern States) or a combination of the two...would suggest researching further before you go for this truck.....IF there is no problem with the model as a whole, however, it really is a good truck to have....one more try at the shop and I might just have a new one myself

Good Value, compromise of 4 door SUV and small pickup. Best price for return in its class. Reliable engine, reliable transmission.

It is a compromise, it is not as good of a pickup as a pickup and not as good of an SUV as an SUV. Rear speaker are poor in CrewCab

Good reliable truck, not as flashy as the SportTrac but better reliability and cheaper than the average Ford vehicle.

I must admit, I do like the power my piece has. But that is it. Actually, my 1993 Toyota Pick up had the same if not more power.

Weakness:

Everything. The body is not strong. After a 5mph impact, 1800.00 damage was done. My tailgate latch has broke 4 times, due to the cheesy plastic spot weld that holds it all together. Gas milage is unimpressive, ther is absolutely no room for a sound system, and I am not talking about a massive system, I am talking about regular 6x9's They dont fit anywhere, dash speakers are non existent. Also, to add to my list, the door moulding fell apart right after the warranty expired, the stock tires lasted only 25000 miles. basically, this truck sucks.

I would not reccommend this truck to anyone, not even my worst enemy. If i had to do it again, i would choose to walk. Hell, i would accept a skateboard at the same price, i am positive i would have been happier.
