My dad just got this truck less then five days ago. I come home from work and I see a beautiful yellow truck with four doors. I get out and I'm like damn this is one nice truck. My dad comes out and I say who is parked in our spot, and he says this is my new truck. I like freak out completly and go crazy. Then he hands me the keys and says want to go for a ride! I said he** yes and I drove it around. It's so queit and awsome looking. The yellow is really an awsome looking color. The truck also is very sporty looking. Me and my dad love it. Everyone keeps saying its underpowered but I think its fine. I mean how much power do you need in a truck. It has lots of tourqe which we wan because we tow and it seems to have fine passing power to me. Its also pretty roomy too. My dad says hes probably gotten more complements on it in the 5 days hes had it then in any of the other cars, trucks or sportutilitys he has had. Everyone seems to like it.
Weakness:
Mabey a little bit of a gas guzzler but not too bad considering it has a 19 gal. tank. But otherwise its completly awsome. We paid about 24,000 I think it was. The truck had 1200 miles on it when my dad got it but thats just broken in a tiny bit. It looks completly new like it came off the showroom floor though. Cant even tell if its been drivenbefore at all. I would recommend this truck to just about anyone who wants somthing with 4 wheel drive, truck haling capibility, and just about car like roomyness. To sum it all up its a dream come true for me and my dad. Its AWSOME!!!!!! Similar Products Used: Okay first thing is first. I want you all to know that I am a 16 yr. old who got his license like 2-3 months ago so not much experience. I also did drive on my permit for 6 months to though. Anyway, I have a 1992 Chevorlet Lumina with a 3.1 liter engine. Its pretty pepy. It might be around the same on the highway as the truck or my car could be a little faster. Cant really tell because they are 2 pretty different vehicles. Before my dad got the truck he had a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, 5 speed, 2.5 cyl. only 125 horses. It had awsome 4x4 ability of course but was slow. This truck is much quicker than that. We still love Jeeps but we also love the truck as much if now more, probably more. The truck is probably alittle more roomy than the jeep, I know the back seat is bigger. Of course it has more room in the back for hauling things, haha. But thats what I have driven and I think the truck is as esay if not easier than my car to drive! Its got a good turning radius too considering on how long the truck is. |

THIS TRUCK GETS LOTS OF LOOKS! QUALITY SEEMS EXCELLENT, RIDES ALMOST LIKE A CAR. COMPARED THIS WITH THE EXPLORER SPORT TRACK. FOR THE MONEY THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE. THE DEALER WAS GREAT!! ACTUALLY 1 OF THE BEST I'VE DELT WITH IN MY 18 YEARS OF BUYING.
Weakness:
NEEDS MORE POWER!. NO FOOT ROOM UNDER THE REAR FRONT SEATS. SPEAKERS ARE TO SMALL, NO ROOM FOR AFTER MARKET STEREO EQUIPMENT. GAS MILAGE SUCKS I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TRUCK FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS AN SUV BUT CAN'T AFFORD $35000. IT IS VERY SIMULAR AND YOU CAN GET A COVER FOR THE BED. Similar Products Used: MY OTHER TRUCK IS A FORD F150. ITS OK. LOTS OF REPAIRS. |

Strength:
The ride is better than any of the other small trucks and most of the full size trucks. Gas mileage alsolutely superb with the 4 cylinder automatic. Get 25-26 mpg running a pest control route.
Weakness:
Nothing Paid around $16,000. which was better than nearby dealers in Savannah or Charleston. Nissan Car Mart is a nice place to do business, not pushy but you have to haggle some like all dealers. Service Dept very customer service oriented. The cab just seems so roomy and the ride is unbelievable compared to the others I test drove. I'm six feet and plenty of leg room for me, then some. Payload capacity good as I carry 800 pounds regularly and the 4 cylinder does very well. Good highway/road vehicle. Zipping along at 65 mph feels like you're doing 40 mph. The 4 cylinder is bullet proof and will easily run 2 or 3 hundred thousand miles with good care. They've been building the same engine and improving on it for years. I know a guy who has 350,000 on one and still rund fine. Worthy of note is Nissan has won JD Powers award for best quality where they pull one at random off the finished assembley line and go over it with a fine tooth comb. For the money this vehicle is hard to beat and they hold their value if you trade for another Nissan. I would say yes, yes, yes to a Nissan Frontier to anyone interested in a good value and excellent craftsmanship at the assembley plant. NOTE: When you test drive it make sure the tires have the right amount of pressure in them. My original test drive was very rough and I checked the tires which were overinflated. Let them down to the proper pressure and rode like a cloud. Similar Products Used: Dodge 1500 Ram 6 cylinder automatic. Rough ride, 15 mpg. No defects, no problems. |

Crewcab SE4x4
Strength:
Handling, layout, 4 doors(!), value for the money.
Weakness:
Not enough power. Factory tires suck. No room for sound equipment. Lack of aftermarket accessories (so far). Got a mountain bike, skis, kayaks, golf clubs, gardening tools, ATV, all sorts of outdoor gear that gets dirty ... AND want to haul a couple of your friends?? No problem with the Crewcab. Weekend warriors who don't want to get their wussy SUV's leather interior messed up need this truck. It's the swiss army knife of mini trucks. The bed is larger than the Ford Explorer Sportrac, although you won't want to haul 4x8's too often, then again how often does one need to haul lumber? It is small enough to pick your way off-road to those secret fishing holes, unlike the mega-monster SUVs. NBA players will complain about the legroom, but the back is sufficient for most adults. The '01 supercharger option should ease complaints about lack of Hp. At this price $26k for a fully loaded SE, nothing can beat the Crewcab's value. But beware, you get what you pay for, the interior is functional not luxury, and the passenger rated tires really belong on pavement (although they're not Firestones). Similar Products Used: 91 Isuzu Trooper LX - old school, crude. Nissan Xterra - the same with a smaller cargo capacity and too common. |

Strength:
Great gas milage, nice looking & comfortable interior.
Weakness:
I live down rugged dirt roads and after 20,000 miles I had all my front bushings, washers & hex nuts replaced. I was very disapointed that my frontier truck can't handle dirt roads. I've had ford trucks & cars and I never had any problems with them handling the dirt roads. I also had to have the frontier front wheels balanced. I paid around $15,000 for this frontier truck. I would recommend this truck if you live in the city. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger. No problems with front end on rugged dirt roads. |

Comfortable. Quiet. Reliable. Priced below a Ranger if you can find a co-operative dealer, and much nicer. Good looking.

Dealers are so bad. My local dealer (Sims Nissan) wouldn't even order me a tube of silver touch-up paint because he "had to buy twelve." Be prepared! I have a XE King Cab 4x4, V-6 Auto, Air, Power Package, Value Truck Pkg, CD and cassette (it can be done!) under-bed liner, bed extender, floor mats. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger XLT (Noisy.) |

Not Much. Maybe the gas mileage a bit, but thats about it!
Weakness:
They had to replace all 4 shocks, backing plates, exhaust hanger, air conditioning compressor, transmission gasket, rear leaf spring, and finally now my clutch???? This truck is a lemon!! It squeeks and rattles, the brakes vibrate and it is really underpowered. Not getting much help from the dealership..... I really wanted to get an exterra next but now, not a chance! 20000 usd. Frontier 4x4 XE
Strength:
My Frontier feels very solid on and off road, and has a capable, reliable four cylinder engine with the most hp in it's class.
Weakness:
The MPG isn't the greatest and the tailgate finisher pulls away. I am extremly satisfied with my little Nissan. When I purchased, the price was a big issue and for $13,700 I got a 4x4 with four wheel ABS, 15" alloy wheels, A/C, 4 speaker cassette radio, cruise, sliding rear window, tach, and many more features. I don't feel this truck is necessarily superior in build quality to the competition, but for the price nothing else came remotely close. I do wish I would have spent an extra $1000 and got the king cab - i'll never make that mistake again. With just about 20,000 miles I have never had any mechanical problems, and it has both taken me way off the beaten path and carried some pretty heavy loads. The tailgate finisher is the only problem I have had. It peels away on the lower right side, and I have noticed several other Frontiers with this same problem. I took it to the dealership and they replaced it happily, however the new one is doing the same thing. Similar Products Used: Chevrolet S-10 which still runs fine but looks terrible, 1980 Toyota 4x4 pu which was great but the Tacomas were just too expensive. |

Strength:
I bought my first Nissan pick-up in 1986. For what was available at the time, this was the best small truck in my opinion. I got great gas mileage and over the years, I thought it was remarkable how well the upholstry and the entire interior for that matter held up. I didn't always have a garage or carport to park it in, but the paint job weathered the elements extremely well. After 14 years the paint still looked brand new. Never had any major engine problems, just had to replace things as they normally wore out. Was quite satisfied my "first Japanese car," so of course was in the market to buy another Nissan pick-up to drive me thru the next 14 years. I really wanted to buy a Nissan Frontier.
Weakness:
The cigarette liter is about my only complaint about the truck. Kept blowing the fuse over and over. Took it back to the dealer, but they never could correct the problem. The main problem I just found recently is the dealership doesn't seem to be as customer oriented as it was back in the 80's. Guess they tried harder back then. Recently, the dealerships I went to in search of just the right Frontier for me, had salesmen with nasty attitudes, like they didn't want to bother with you. No negotiating on the sticker prices, and if they didn't have just what you wanted, "Oh well...too bad, go some place else..." seemed to be the attitude. Phone calls weren't returned as to whether or not they could get the features I was looking for, etc. So , after dealing with this kind of dealership off and on for the past 6 months, I did go some place else, Toyota. The package I wanted on the Nissan Fontier seemed over priced to me. For just a bit more, why not buy a Tundra and get a smoother, quieter ride and treated with some respect, for being a returning, long time, Nissan customer?? The Frontier didn't make me turn to Toyota, the dealerships attitudes did. Similar Products Used: Toyota Tundra: Great truck, so far, lousy gas mileage, but hey, I'm used to the little Nissan 4 banger that I drove for a looong time. |
