Frontier XE
Strength:
This truck sits higher and geared better than the older model. Makes it feel like a lot more power for the small engine. Black is an awesome color for this vehicle, but hard to keep clean! Like the four wheel drive.
Weakness:
No emblems on the tailgate anymore. Gas Mileage is a bit poor, but that is expected with the heavier 4x4 and the lower gearing. If you want good gas mileage, buy the slow two wheel drive model. Haven't owned the truck for too long. It runs great and has more power than the old KA24E 4cyl. I previously owned a 1993 Nissan 4x2 hardbody and it never once left me stranded. I am hoping this truck will be the same way. The ownwer before me warrantied the peeling trim finisher on the tailgate, but it looks as though they peeled it off the second time. I found the papers for it. Now there is no Nissan emblem or 4x4 on the back. I was used to the old smooth shifting gear box on the old truck, but wow, this new one is a kicker! I had to learn how to drive a stick again. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were all rough. The trick is not to press the clutch and let off the gas at the same time. Instead, you have to let off the gas first, and then depress the clutch and you get an awesome shift. Otherwise, I love the truck. Similar Products Used: 1993 Nissan Hardbody. Very Reliable. Great truck! |

4x4 Crew Cab
Strength:
Quiet. I use it off road alot. Very good suspension. Smoothest ride on washboard roads of any truck I've owned. Easy to convert to manual hubs. Motor has good low end torque, a plus when going slow over rocks. Does not use one drop of oil.
Weakness:
Tranfer ratio is not low enough for very slow crawling. Gas mileage could be 10 or 20 % better. Seats seem a bit smallish, and I am only 5'7". Rear windows are tinted making sightseeing "inaccurate" for the kids in back. I paid MSRP $2,100. For only a bit more the Toyota Tundra gets the same mileage with larger bed and the same cab space. Toyota's disadvantage is electrically controlled 4wd system (yuck!). Nissan has a basic, no frills system. Wait for Toyota's 4 door Tacoma, I should have! Similar Products Used: Toyota 4x4 trucks, the Nissan has way better suspension, though the Toyotas had better gearing. '92 Trooper had better gearing and seats but rough ride and unreliable. |

FOUR DOORS!!!!!!!!! i had a 98 nissan frontier x-cab and never had a problem but when this came out i had to have it. my wife loves it she says she gets more respect on the road ( she drives a 96 stratus). more power then my other frontier although this is a 6 banger my other was a four. looks are great people give me complements all the time. the original. EVERYBODY IS COMING OUT WITH THE SAME THING ,JUST A DIFFERENT FLAVOR! price was right. i went in with my numbers that i dug up from edmunds.com and they really couldn't do much. i told them i was going to get this deal and they could sell it to me or i'll take my business elseware. i kicked in 100 for salesman and paid 19,600 total for a loaded version the only things i didn't get are the roof rack (don't see anybody using it) or the bedliner (want to get a snug top) although prices for the snug top are the same for mine as they would be for a much larger bed (ford f150) what a racket!
Weakness:
wind noise @80 mph on the right side. brakes make a roaring sound like a plumming pipe when i get a full load of people (4 or 5)and have to make a quicker stop.not slamming on the brakes just pushing down on the pedal a little more. just starting to see a potential problem with my starting of the truck. i will turn over but won't start always on the first try. will get that and the brakes checked out. sucks gas but i don't see anyothertrucks getting great mileage. speakers in the back are in a bad spot. even with the back seat so when you close the door guess what its buried next to it. no room for amp or any decent sized speakers nissan has a great thing going in this truck. i would say to anyboby looking for a truck with four doors to check out this guy. it my look as if i have several problems maybe i'm just being extra picky. although i think this starting thing my be a issue. just turned over 9000 miles Similar Products Used: nissan 98 x-cab on par |

SE King Cab 4X4

It's a Nissan, Price- got mine for $17,999 V6, with AC,bedliner, casstte radio, big tires. Style is pretty cool. Quiet on the highway, albeit, with the windows rolled up. Engine. cupholders are great(userfriendly)
Weakness:
The engine is also a weakness wish it was a little more powerful and quicker from a stop. Other than that there really isn't another weakness. Great price as stated above. I've put about 21,000 miles in a year and 2 months and not one complaint. Does everything I expected and is fun to drive. I go away on weekends up to Maine and New Hampshire for mountain biking, camping, canoeing and wants to do more! I've put 500-700 miles many times in one weekend handles it like a charm. Knock on wood, this baby should last longer than those other trucks out there-Dakotas,S-10. Excellent little truck. I strongly urge you to consider buying the Frontier if you are looking. Made in Tenessee don't you know! Similar Products Used: Tacomas- too expensive, they aren't worth it. Chevy S-10 - blah |

Frontier 4x4 Kingcab 4cyl
Strength:
Very nice styling, fun offroad, quiet onroad, rugged, good warranty. Service was very easy to accquire.
Weakness:
Hard to find aftermarket parts, tires aren't big enough, and not enough ground clearance. I paid about $20,000. Yet, it is a lease and get it for about $200 a month. I think for my first car that it was a very good choice. I would recommend it to anyone with the regret that I didn't get the 6cyl. That extra power would come in handy. I am already making plans to lease a 2001 frontier crewcab. They have a new design and a supercharger and every thing. Similar Products Used: Work at Ford dealership and drive rangers all the time. Nissan 4cyl more powerful than ranger's. |

Frontier Ext. Cab 4cyl
Strength:
The transmission has not gone out yet. The paint is a good finish.
Weakness:
This truck has no power, it's a 4cyl that's heavier than my previous v6. It's soooo slow I will not go on the highway. I have had many things go out on this truck. The airconditioning was the first to go. The next thing to go was the radio. The alarm and power locks set me back five hundred dollars three hundred miles after the warranty expired, this took four visits to the dealer to get fixed. The tires were pretty bad, I had a ton of patches and plugs. The drivers seat started ripping after a few months, because it hits the seat lever. This also happen in 94 nissan. The acceleration does not exist, turning off the air does not help either. The airconditiong never was cold, so that has not changed. Nissan brakes have never been very good, but I think this truck is harder to stop. The power window motor had to be replaced. It has terrible gas milage. I'm finding it very hard to get a fool to take this @##@#%# off my hands. After 5 Nissans, I say no thanks, time to move on to Toyota. This truck has been a miserable experience. I can't wait to see it go. Similar Products Used: Had a 94 Nissan SEV6, 90 Nissan Hardbody. |

My nissan has plenty of power. I pull a 2,000 lb. float every day with her(lawn service). She has 130,000 Miles and has not been touched with a wrench. A/C is cold (I installed an electric fan :). Has the turning radius of a volvo, if not better.
Weakness:
High RPM on highway. I get better milage in the city with my trailer than with out it on the highway? Noise is a little loud on the highway, but i just turn up the tunes. A little bit of rus on the inside of the bed, but thats because she lived in California, then Hawaii, then Missouri. This is my first truck second vehicle. And what a great vehicle to have. She works, plays, and picks up girls. She wears 31x9.5 tsl super swampers (that humm down the road :)Great clearance, great load pulling capability, Great off road. I can't complain. I woulden't trade her in on a new one, even if she was super charged. Great for anybody who wants a good truck. If you want a bad truck you can buy an american one. There are not enough stars on this rating meter for my lori. Similar Products Used: All my friends own american vehicles, I tow them to the shop all the time (Jeep, chevy, ford, Mazda). Need I say More. American vehicles have come a long way, but they are still not japanese. |

overall looks and reliability.
Weakness:
can't complaine about the room(it is mid size).can't complaine about the power(it is a v6). i'm very pleased with my purchase.best deal for the money.i had a 1991 king cab v6 4wd for 4 years and it was trouble free.it had 180,000 miles when i got rid of it.i always used mobile 1 synthetic.as do i in my new frontier.i also use k&n filters.i love the new 16 inch tires(higher ride).plenty of room in the back seat for average adults and kids.the shorter bed makes it look so much sportier.and the front end makes people stare.i had to go with salsa red.it was that or black.lockable tailgate is a plus.engine is smooth and quiet.as is the cabin.my girlfriend says it drives like a big car.i think if your going to get one get the supercharger as well.i missed out on that one.i've never had leather before and i must say i will never be without.the dealership treated me real good.and i will buy another one. Similar Products Used: compared to my old 1991 king cab 4wd.this one is far advanced.as will be the next. |

Frontier CrewCab SE V6
Strength:
Great looks, 4 real doors and rear bench seat, functional roof rack, strong engine, standard limited-slip differential and 4Wheel ABS, good 6-disc stereo system, rear window defroster, more standard features for the money than other compact 4-dr pickups...
Weakness:
Geared for high-torque NOT Highways (MPG low-but it IS a high profile truck), CD sound system could use an AMP, rear seat legroom could use abit more stretch room (maybe lift it 1" up and 2" forward). First experienced 4-door compact pick-ups overseas in the Saudi Arabian desert - love at first sight. Got into 2000 Crewcab at a car show and did some price vs equipment shopping. Couldn't beat it so I got a 2001 model - Love IT, kids can go with me in comfort to load soil, plants, garden supplies for the house and boogie boards or skis for either beach excursions or winter fun. Never needed 4WD with its standard limited-slip rearend on my crew cab on the loose/slippery surfaces(I think the extra weight of 4dr models has alot to do with this), and the rear window defroster came in handy on the wintery days. Excellent A/C, good CD sound system, quiet riding great looking truck. Just right for the suburbanite who's wife forbids any dirt byproducts in her SUV and have the utility of a reliable, tough and well equiped pickup for the money. Similar Products Used: Chevy S-10 but no comparison, Frontier much better is quality, craftmanship and reliability AND way better looking! Priced better than Toyota Tacoma and come with better standard features for the price. |

Crewcab SE 4X2
Strength:
Strong Engine, Quiet comfortable interior(for compact P-up), standard Limited-slip differential provides great 2WD traction, good 6-disc CD sound system, great a/c front and rear cooling/heating coverage, great rear window defogger/defroster, excellent looks, functional/good looking roof rack complements short bed usability. My Kids love it!
Weakness:
Tranny geared for low-end pull, not designed for prolong highway travel(gas mileage suffers, engine rpm/noise high), rear seating access limited to small adults(not bad for compact P-up though), Recirculating-ball steering system old hat, slow and somtimes numb to road feel For the money this is a great deal! Had more standard features that I required on this truck than a comparable brand costing almost $5000.00 more. Especially the standard limited-slip differential on my Crewcab. This feature provides drive traction to both rear wheels on loose/slippery surfaces not just one wheel that almost all rear wheel drive pick-ups come standard. 6-disc CD sound system could use an amp but good overall. With 2 kids to carry and my "suburban" truck bed size carrying capacity (tiller, mower, soil, small furniture, small/medium size lumber, garden tools, mountain bikes, skis...etc. Nissan reliability and value for money, my Frontier 4dr Crewcab P-up was a hard deal to pass-up. So I bought it and my family and I love it. Similar Products Used: Had Chevy S-10 P-up, OK for about 3 years then little nit-pick problems came up, same things happened to friends who had S-10 P-ups too, will NOT own another. |
