Strength:

Gas milage for such a large truck.

Weakness:

None found yet

So far I'm very happy with the truck. I Thought the 4.8 V8 wasn't going to have enough power , but it does. I wanted the 5.3 It handles great, nice smooth ride. Only other thing I would chance right now is the tires and add dual exhaust.

Strength:

I really liked the interior features of this truck. I looked at Ford and Dodge and Chevy (which are all nice) but the base model interior on the GMC was better than any of the others. Being a poor boy, I was only able to go for the most basic model. The only extra cost option I got was AC. I still feel like I'm riding in a big old Cadillac. Smooth, quiet cruising and gas mileage that won't drain my wallet at the pumps !!! Also the exterior styling of the Sierra (in my opinion) beats ALL the others hands down.

Weakness:

I did notice that the Ford six cylinder pulled a little stronger. The Ford had a 3:52 rear end where my Sierra has a 3:42, so I'll probably get better mileage...

I paid $16,315 for my base line Sierra SL with AC. I am totally pleased with everything about it and would recommend it to anybody considering the purchase of a new truck for light duty hauling and economical cruising.

Similar Products Used:

I had an 83 Dodge Ram and a 92 Dodge Dakota before this. Both were good trucks. The Dodge dealership closest to me screwed up the automatic on my Dakota when I took it for a recent recall. Hence my switch to GMC. So far I've had no trouble with my GMC, but I didn't with either of my two previous Dodge's either... Didn't want to get another Dodge at this time cause both the Ram and the Dakota are due for a styling change and I would still be in debt and driving an "old" model.

Strength:

Great Truck, Powerful, Quiet,Rides Great, Looks Good
(Im 16 and this is my first truck)

Weakness:

350 V8 is not an option

Paided $17,122 SL,Long Bed, 2wd,(locking Diff.) auto, A/C, 4.8 V8, bucket seats

Great truck, I would recommend this truck to any one who wants a great looking truck, that performs as good as it looks.

I think the GMC dealers are better than the Chevy Dealers, so buy a GMC, Its the same truck

Chevy C-10, Chevy C/K I think the new GMC is every bit as good as the C-10 or C/K, but I miss the 350, it was the best engine ever used, My father Had a 1987 C-10 and put over 300,000 miles on the orignal 350 and it still ran great after he traded it in. His 1995 C/K has 100,000 on it now and we never had any engine problems, and I still like to drive it.
I liked the Chevy front end better, but I liked the GMC dealer better

Strength:

Excellent room and ride

Weakness:

Valve noise in engine when cold - transmission very erratic
Unable to comfortably tow a load.

with 7,600 miles on this vehicle it has excessive valve noise when starting
cold - transmission vibrates when pulling a trailer - GMC acknowledges problem with engine and state they have no FIX at this time. No further
assistance has been offered by GMC - say they will get back to me when the
engineers have figured out how to repair. I am contemplating legal action.

Strength:

Great truck, runs great plenty of power. Never have had any problems with it since the day that I bought it. Despite it only being two wheel drive, I'v never had problems in the snow (with some help from the limited slip diff.) and I haven't had to replace anything on the vechicle except for the battery. Still runs like the day I drove it off the showroom floor despite it having nearly 80,000 miles on it.

Weakness:

Extended cab isn't as roomy as newer models and there's only two doors. Both problems GM fixed with newer models. Also, I kind-of wish I would have opted for the 4WD model

If you looking for a real truck, go with GMC. Chevy is pretty much the same but the GMC has more of a "upper class" demeanor to it that sets it apart in a class of its own. If a powerfull, reliable, durable, good long lasting truck is what your looking for, turn to General Motors.

Strength:

Quiet, roomy, stylish, nice gas mileage, smart spare tire lock. Seems to be well thought out
and designed. Hard to believe I am driving a 4x4 when you are in the quiet cabin zipping down the road.

Weakness:

Haven't really found anything I do not like yet. Had it a month

I am amazed at how quiet, roomy and plush it is inside. This is the LS model with cruise,
air and cassette and towing package. I am impressed with the gas mileage. 15-16 back and
forth to work. 20miles round trip at 55 MPH. This truck has the 3.73 rear end. It seems
like the designers put some thought into this truck. Most plastic parts pop off without breaking anything
Handy if you put accessories in.
I wonder about ground height off road and all the electronics could be costly when they break
Seems like a lot of computer electronics. You don't even need the light switch. They go right from day time
running lights to headlights when the sensor on the dash senses darkness.

Dodge Ram 1500 work special- Gas mileage much better, more refined, quieter, Horse power doesn't seem to be a whole lot
different than the 318 in the dodge but for less gas money I can drive a 4x4 with extended cab

Strength:

I'v been driving it for 3 1/2 years. when i got it there where 65,000km on it. Now there is 345,000km iv beatin it. drivin it in the bush, raced it and the only time it is been in the shop is got the things that i have torn of it. The engine is mint. dry never had so much as a drip of oil my driveway is spotless. And with the 5.7l under the hood there has never been a moment when i was looking for more power.

Weakness:

the only thing i didn't like was the gages. they all went at one time and i think that was a problen with most gm pickups, and there was no low fuel light.

if your looking for a truck that can take hard work and a good beating the sierra is the truck for you.

Strength:

Each day I drive it I detest this vehicle more

Weakness:

Total lack of commitment by dealer and/or GMC to resolve many problems on this vehicle - Rear End Clangs like a dinner bell when shifting into reverse - Dealer!!! GMC Customer Assistance - Arbitration - and they pull a service bulletin out that says "its a four wheel drive - lots of parts - parts need clearances - so clunking is normal" Other goodies : Clunking in steering column, Transmission shifts harsh,Paint coming off dash, Rear Bumper rusting, Vent windows leak - God I love this vehicle

Stay away from GMC don't be the 1% that buys it

Don't know but I will soon find out and it won't be a GM product

style of aluminum wheels (personal taste)

Purchased new and had only one item that required service in 45000 miles.Fuel mileage was 17.5 m.p.g. in the warmer months of the year and thats gassing up at about 500 miles with the 34 gal. tank.Overall integrity of this truck was great.Pulled my 6000 lb. fifth wheel camper with authority and still got 10 m.p.g..Traded it off for 2001 Chevy K2500 and have had more problems in 6 mo. than I care say.

Model Reviewed: Sierra SLE 5.3 4dr SB Z71

Strength:

Motor blows away the competition!Gets stronger everytime I drive it.Nice ride, handles and brakes very well.Transmission and engine seem to be better connected in operation than any vehicle I've ever had before. When floored, trans hold gears to 5200,shifts solid.Very quick for it's size,I would say high 15's to low 16's 1/4 mile times.Gas milage on first two fills was 16.5 and 15.5,it was 13.2 on my Jeep with the 4.0 SIX!!

Weakness:

Odd brake pedal action, but I'm getting used to it.Stock CD/FM stereo is pretty pitiful,I will replace it as soon as possible.Door doesn't unlock by itself when handle is pulled, you have to flip the lever,or hit the power lock button,it's very annoying.Having to hit the keyless entry twice to unlock passenger door is very odd,and makes no sense to me at all.No tailgate lock, but bedlid will solve that in a few weeks.Barely fits in my garage, only has about 1 inch to spare!

I paid about 28,600.The only other one I really considered was the Ram Quad Cab.Liked it,but the 5.3 sold me on the GM truck.I liked the GMC dealer,so I went with the GMC instead of the Chevy(I liked the Chevy front end better).I would recommend this truck to anyone looking for a full size truck,2 wheel or 4 wheel drive.
This truck rides better than my Grand Cherokee,it's faster than most cars, let alone other trucks, gets better gas milage than about anything else it size, and looks good too. What more could you want?I have no wind leaks, odd rattles, vibrations, etc.Goes straight, like it's on rails, better than any previous 4wd vehicle I've owned.(this is my sixth).
