Washable flooring, styling, put together well.

Weakness:

A little anemic on passing power. Need to redesign the bedrail covers so they are lower profile.

Had it for a month now and everything is A-Ok

Great little truck. It''s quick for a little truck of that era. It has a 2.9 Fuel Injected V-6 and a 5 speed stick and can move. It also gets 20+mpg. The body is rusty but underneath it''s just as solid as the day it rolled of the lot. It''s hauled and pulled loads that a 12 ton truck would be challenged by. It''s also a blast to drive. It''s only a 2 wheel drive but with a little weight in the bed can get through snow almost as good as a 4x4. It rides a little rough but what do you expect it''s a truck! I would recommend it to anyone who want''s a hard working, Fun loving, reliable truck.

Strength:

Looks sweet with flairside and optional off-road package. For a small truck, it has lots o'' room for fun stuff ;) Hey, chicks like it too! Sounds pretty good with stock exhaust.

Weakness:

Gas milage of course. A little slow, but folks, it''s a pickup truck! Radio stinks(all 5x7''s suck, not to mention factory systems).

Has the option for everything u could ask for in a small truck.

Strength:

4.0 extremely powerful and quick for a smaller truck. Love the posi axles. The 3:55 gears are nice. Very dependable even with 149,000 miles.!!!

Weakness:

Gets poor gas mileage under hard driving.

The 4.0 litre engine is powerful and quick. The 4wd goes in smoothly and when in the truck goes great. My particular truck has 3:55 gears which are great in a smaller truck because they put all the power to the ground. the posi font and back is a nice extra. My one complaint is the gas mileage. I do not care though because I am yet to be outran by a Dakota or a s-10. Very dependable even with 150,000.

Power (4.0L V6) and Handling Overall Fit and Finish Looks and Comfort

Weakness:

Some dumb design/cost decisions No full-sized spare tire for larger wheelsr

Great truck - Ford almost got it right with this one. By far, this is the best looking and best value of all the small pickups on the road. I recommend the 4.0L V6 -- it''s a blast to drive, and you won''t actually get much better gas mileage in the 3.0L. I test-drove the 3.0L and found it whiny, even in the regular cab. I got the extra cab, and am very glad I chose the big engine -- I get a measly 19mpg, but again, you won''t improve much on that by going with the 3.0L. Test-drive a Ranger if you''re considering any small truck -- I think you''ll find the ride, the power, and the handling (not to mention the value-for-money) superior to others in its class. My only complaints about this vehicle are that Ford made some weird decisions about where to save money and let the design team go home early. Four examples: (1) Although Ford claims that every truck has a "full-sized" spare, the bay for the spare tire underneath the truck can not actually hold any of the factory-installed larger sized tires. (2) What''s with that big, breakable, cheap plastic jack cover taking up all the cargo space in the extra cab? Couldn''t they just roll the jack up and stick it under the seat? Or put it in a case and bolt it to the undercarriage by the spare? (3) Same goes for the weird hard plastic rat hole in the dashboard next to the switch you use to turn off the passenger side airbag -- what''s that hole for, anyway? It looks like a homemade add-on from AutoZone. (4) The wiper blades that came from the factory might as well have been made of cardboard -- I had to replace them immediately the first time it rained. Come on Ford - that''s just insulting. None of these design/cost cop-outs would matter in a truck that wasn''t so well-designed and attractive. But in a package that''s so good to begin with, these little failures stick out like sore thumbs.B

Could get better gas mileage

The ranger is the best truck for the money. I bought it used with 17,000 miles and in perfect condition. It''s a 4x2 single cab with stepside body and a 3.0 V6 with an automatic trans. Made very few engine mods life K&N air filter and a superchip. Has about 225HP (big inprovement over the 155 stock HP) People always talk about the lack of power in the rangers but I don''t see it. I have out ran a camero V6, any mustang V6 I have yet to see, And almost got a 98 dodge 360 and a ford F-150 with a 4.2 5-speed (which is the faster stock V6 I have ever seen). The girls also like it

Mine tops out at 100 MPH whats up with that!! Needs more top end power. Hopefully I''ll get NOS.

I just turned sixteen and I have to admit that having a Ford ranger to cruise in is not that cool. But After rims tinted windows, Euro tail lights and such it''s pretty cool. I think this truck rocks!!

The spare tire works pretty good, when I had a flat, no problems with it not working like it should.

Weakness:

Where to start....Top End, Horse Power, GAS MILEDGE, small exhaust.

This truck started as a great truck. I travel to work 120 miles a day 5 days a week with no problems. After I turned 70,000 miles on my truck, (I have 73,000.00 now) my over-drive light started to flash on and off. When this occurs, at slower speeds, the transmission would jerk in and out of gears. I would have to pull off the side of the road, turn the key off, and then re-start the engine, for the truck to work properly for the mean-time. NOW, $1600.00 later, a new valve body, TCC solniod, and a Touque convertor the truck still does not work.(of course, this information was given by the dealer that I bought it from, which stated that this would resolve the problem. ) Now, my "Check Engine" light is on, and is shifting worse than it was before. Oh well, it only another day off of mine that I have to take my truck back down in the morning to the place that is fixing it. If anybody has had any similar expierences or has any idea what it is let me know:) THANKS!! So much for the Ford Cobra I wanted...I think I might stick to a import.
