Ranger
Strength:
i like the color of my ranger, front end styling
Weakness:
just about everything This is the first and last ford i will ever own!! I cannot believe the poor quality of this vehicle, from the day i drove it off the lot, the driveshaft was bad, at 1,000 miles the check engine light was on, and running rough, which it still does, o2 sensor replaced, fog lights, front u-joint, seatbelts, horn failed 2 times, and now driveshaft has failed again, recently at night my dash lights quit, and the starter went out, the third door was out of adjustment and had to be fixed, the wipers failed in about 3 months, and there is a terrible growl in the power steering which noone can fix, the interior has worn terribly with only 15,000 miles. this is the worst vehicle i have ever driven and i cant wait until my lease is up!! Ford Ranger
Strength:
Good economy and handling. Also, I like the looks of the Sport Package.
Weakness:
None through the 19,000 miles I have driven. Excellent truck. Good gas mileage. Mine is an XLT Sport with the 2.5 four cylinder. Averages 23.5 miles per gallon in mixed driving and over 26 on the highway. Good handling and much improved over older Rangers I have owned. Similar Products Used: I have owned more than five Rangers over the last ten years. The 2000 model is the best I have owned. |

Edge reg cab.
Strength:
Handles off-road driving very well expecially if loaded down with camping gear. Edge package looks good and is perfect for a mountain biker that just needs a taller truck to get to a trailhead. 4x4 would be nice but I've not needed it yet.
Weakness:
Gas mileage and power are poor but hey its a small pick-up not a full sized truck or a Toyata. Brakes and clutch are terrible. Have had the truck for 10 months and have 16k miles on it. Its just an ok truck. Looks good but has what I think is a serious problem with the brakes. Pulls to left when braking. Dealer and Ford can not figure out what is wrong. Its been to the dealer 8 time for this problem. Also have a problem with the Clutch which they say is normal. I would have/should have purchased a Toyota Tacoma Pre-runner but non of the dealers had any in stock. Similar Products Used: none. |

Ranger
Strength:

Weakness:
Transmission was weak, rough ride, small interior, factory defects. This vehicle was used sparingly for the first year and was kept mostly in the garage. After 1 year and 1700 miles, we went on a trip out west. During this trip, we noticed we were averaging less than 10 miles per gallon and heard a terrible noise from the front of the vehicle. Also, when using the cruise control, it kept going from cruise to passing gear intermittently. When we returned home, we took the beast to the dealer to be checked at 3500 miles. Upon examination, they determined that the ball joint and idler arm were bad and had to be replaced. Of course, the work was done under warranty, but the danger is that we could have been killed by this factory defect. Upon writing Ford (Fraud) and requesting reimbursement for excess gas used because of this defect, they refused. Needless to say, this Ford truck found a new owner. Strength:
TOUGH, STRONG, WELL-BUILT, GOOD LOOKING, ROOMY (for a small truck),ECONOMICAL.
Weakness:
still looking for it. purchased with 9K miles, now 29K. tough little truck. overloaded everyday with permanent mount tool boxes and even more overloaded when loaded with job-site materials also. pull a trailer for those larger jobs. has never failed me, decent gas mileage when considering the work it must do. 4.0 ltr V-6 with AT and A/C. no other creature comforts but it''s a pleasure to own and drive. use it for our road trips also because it''s heavier and longer wheelbase than our other car, a 2000 Maxima. ranger 2wd sport
Strength:
through all the reviews i have read, no bad reviews have been said about this make of the ranger Great truck. I have loved this truck sincce the day it was bought. however there are some small problems with it. 1)the 2.3 is very weak, wish it came with v6 2)very small rust on back bumper, not bad for 10 years old. 3)Redesinged in 93 so some aftermarket parts for fords are not avaible, can find if you look However there are many good points 1)92 ranger sport are rare. Ive only seen one with the same paint. 2) hasent been found on road dead yet 3)good interior, nothing special just well done 4)good steering 5)overall a solid veichle |

Strength:
Interior comfort!!!!! Engine has been very good and reliable.
Weakness:
Everything else. Poor reliability on 4WD, transmision, axel seals, wipers, etc. Very light back end. Even seems squirrely on off road in summer w/ no weight in the back. I call it The Lemonmobile. My little truck has had problems from 10K miles to now 70K. 4WD, axel seals, transmission. The engine has been great. The ergonomics are the best. I''m spoiled w/ the layout. I''m so disappointed w/ this truck. I wanted to drive it till it was dead, but no way. To give the dealer credit, they did work w/ Ford to get me a free extended warranty. The warranty will expire at 75K, and I will be dumping it at about 74K. Without the extended warranty, I would have been SOL on repairs w/ a heafty payment. The best thing about it now? It''s paid off. Similar Products Used: 1990 Toyota- GREAT TRUCK!!! 1982 Rabbit--GREAT CAR!!! Now looking at new suv''s and trucks. |

Strength:
Great for new drivers. Long lasting. Pretty tough.
Weakness:
Body rusts. Waistes tires. 320 000 KM''s! Wow. What alot. I purchased my truck from a neighbor with 300 000 KM''s on it. Since purchase I have put 20 000 K''s on it. Not sure what has been done to truck in past, but to date, I have only replaced the ignition, fan switch, and headlight switch. I used to get about 25 mpg but now am getting about 12 mpg. For the price I paid, I am happy with pos. Good little truck, great for new drivers. Only now, is the engine starting to fail. I can''t drive for more than 15 mins without engine suffering. |
