Strength:

Rides smooth, nice power (4.0, 207hp), very responsive. 4 wheel works great in the snow.

Weakness:

Had a problem with a brake dust guard but it was covered under warranty.

I leased the truck for two years and liked it so much I bought it. What else can I say.

Strength:

Looks, power is alright, could use a little more, comfortable.

Weakness:

Rear doors don't close properly

This truck is great looking and fun to drive. The Edge model sits higher up than the regular Ranger. The blue color does turn heads. The truck rides comfortably. The factory cd changer is great, but I don't like the factory speakers so I changed them. The four door feature is convenient, however I have to slam the rear doors really hard, otherwise they don't close all the way and they rattle while driving. I have taken it to the Wichita Falls Ford Autoplex, and they could not find a problem to fix. I have had trouble starting this truck on occasion as well. It will turn over, however it would not actually start sometimes. I would have to stop trying to start the truck, then turn the key and try again before it would start. Varsity Ford in College Station,Tx replaced the starter. The same problem occurred 2 days later. They could not duplicate the problem, it only happened when I was away from the dealership for some reason. The problem stopped a couple weeks later with no explanation. Overall it is a good dependable truck with a few bugs to work out. I guess that is why it is cheaper. I only buy American vehicles, and the Ranger's competitors are the Chevy S-10 and Dodge Dakota. I would never own a Dodge because they are horrible quality vehicles, and the S-10 is just too small, uncomfortable, and under-powered. So with that said, this is the best truck in it's domestic class in my opinion.

Strength:

The ride and feel of the truck is very impressive for less than a full size vehicle. Cabin is very quiet and tight. AC is cold and not too noisy even handling Florida heat.

Weakness:

Engine is adequate but could have a bit more power. The 4.0 would have been nice but I drive too much to feed it. The tranny takes some getting used to. Shifting is smooth but hard to tell where the shift points are yet. No snap in the shifting. This may not be a weakness but it feels soft after shifting that manual box for so long. I havent really found any real weakness yet. Very happy with the truck, so far.

My 92 Ranger gave me 175000 miles but starting to show its age. Just bought an '03 Supercab 5 speed OD/auto,3.0 V6. All the toys. Rides like a full size car with Continental tires and the stereo is great. Interior detail is beautiful. No bad fit anywhere. Engine adequate but no racer. The truck is tight and handles great. Paint is black and perfect. No problem with fit & finish. Dealer was great too.

Put 175K on my 92 Ranger. Only problem was the tranny melted down at 120K. Those things are really expensive considering it was a 5 spd manual box ($1100 used) The engine ran as good, or better, at 17

Strength:

power, sound, looks cool raised with big tires and tinted windows

Weakness:

small, looks lame with normal tires and no lift

my ranger has a 4.0 V-6,5speed stick an after market K&N air filter,a flow master 40 series muffler, and a super chip. It should be running about 200 horse power. It idles quietly, but if you floor it the muffler and intake are deep and loud sounding.

Strength:

strong small motor, 4x4, sterio, i added police lights my self like strobes, spotlights, rotating dash lights, just about every light outside flashes, (thinkin about a lightbar too), pa system&siren, fun to drive, fast, scare friends w/lights, doesnt need emissions test for 4 yers, blacked out gril and outer trim with a bug deflector and windo vent shades makes i look unstoppable, i suggest you do it to yours, all around good truck

Weakness:

radiator, stock exhaust, rear traction, (fixedw/sadbags, was rusty but thanks to body panels and bondo looks great now, bumper is a little bent from backing into a 2wd ranger, mauling it, leaving me with barely noticable damage, can break in through split windo in 15 seconds,

ok almost everything is stock....for now only mods now are a pretty nice sterio system and som interior b.s. oh and a bedliner.. i plan on some intake and filter upgrades aso i want to make my own true dual exhaust system since none is is available if u have any tips email me at bobdawg101@aol.com i want to gett a bigger radiator because the one on there is whimpy looking and rotting the v6's got some balls as it is righ now, it once pulled a beastly k-5 with a locked up rear end over a block with no problem. it used to be able to light up all 4 tires but since i burned out the rear posi, its only 3 tires with the new differential (i guess that'l teach me)

Strength:

4.0 motor, 6disc cd changer, looks good, 4-doors, just an all around awesome truck at a good price

Weakness:

doesn't get to spend enough time in the dirt

This truck is great, I first leased a 2000 ranger with a 3.0, that was good but didn't have even near the same amount of power as the 4.0, i can even blow away some cars off the line, now that's power. Everywhere i go with my blue edge, heads turn, it has awesome looks, and an awesome motor to bakc it up, and the vinyl flooring is a breeze to clean, on my second ranger and i will never buy another brand pickup.

Strength:

-The '93 4.0 engine is sweet -The truck has been reliable so far -The extra cab is great for throwing all your crap back there,or in case of an emergency, hauling one or two people.

Weakness:

Gas mileage on a 4.0 isnt real great, but not too bad, but better then the 5mpg I was getting w/ my old chevy 4x4

My Ford Ranger has been a great truck for me so far. Sure Toyotas may be good trucks, but for the money I would take a Ranger over a Tacoma any day. My truck is an extra cab with every option except power windows and power mirrors (who needs those anyways, its just something that'll break). I love the 4.0 engine and 5spd trans. It has plenty of power for hauling butt across the desert, since I have it set up as a prerunner (those trd tacomas that say prerunner are just wanna-be prerunners).

Strength:

Great gas mileage, I save SO much money. Small enough to drive and park easily in the city. Strong towing capacity! Extremely reliable, never experienced any problems. Only repairs were maintence and the expected from a 100,000 mile vehilce.

Weakness:

Looks like a dwarf next to my neighbors new giant Ford F-zillion monster. Ride is a bit rough with an empty bed but drives smooth carrying a load. Warning: insurance companies have NO respect for an old truck. Let them know what a great vehilce you have and what a valuable investment it is before you let them take over repairs. 100,000 miles is NOTHING to a Ford Ranger, demand respect.

Best investment ever. I always wanted a truck but the huge size and poor gas mileage of most trucks was a deterrent. I bought a used Ranger from my downstairs neighbor knowing it hadn’t been driven in a year and had nearly 100,000 miles on it. I was a bit concerned but having my neighbor as a friend assured me he would right any wrongs, but I haven’t had any.
