F250 Crew Cab Lariat diesel

This diesel engine rocks! I compared Ford, Dodge and GMC for 2 months before buying. The Dodge is put together with silly putty - what a piece of junk. The GM Duramax diesel is nice but WAY overpriced for what you get ($45k???). Looking forward to getting 400,000 miles out of this baby!
Weakness:
The trucks come stock with shi**y tires. On a slight uphill with the sand they put down on the roads here the tires spin like hell. I'll be putting 33" BF A/Ts as soon as I can. The turning radius isn't great but you can't expect it to do donuts like a Geo either! No other issues with this truck whatsoever! This is by far the most awesome vehicle I have ever owned. The service has been great as well. I had a squeek on front drivers side and it wound up being a bad leaf spring bushing. Dealer replaced for free and I was in and out of the shop in 1 hour! To the guys complaining about power - you need to learn how to drive (and not put a wimpy Triton V8 in a truck built to run off the diesel). Regarding gas mileage - you shouldn't have bought the V10 moron, what do you expect? i like the way that the mirrors look
Weakness:
Way too big for the road, way underpowered, no towing capacity, no ground clearence, rides terrible, mine broke down so many times i just had to get rid of it. Ive found mine on the road dead way to many times i would have ended up paying more for repairs than the truck origionally costs. Save your self a trip to the dealership and gas stations and get a Chevy their new desiels have way better gas mileage and are 3 times as quiet as a ford. This truck did have a few perks, but more costs in repairs along with terrible gas mileage i spent more money or at least would by repairs, and going to the gas station to fill it up with gas. triton was way underpowered the tranny sucks and cant even fit bigger tires on it. Save yourself the money and take a look at your options and testdrive and see whats right for you. Fords got moved down to number 3 on my list. Strength:
Gas Mileage 18-20 mixed, plenty of power-I could care less about winning drag races. Extended cab with 38 gallon tank (Long Bed) lots of range. Two wheel drive set up rides well, twin I beam maintains alignment well up front. 36000 miles and no problems. I run Amsoil and the Bypass filtration systems. I keep my trucks 10-15 years. I know the first year if they will last that long. I have a good feeling about this truck.
Weakness:
I have not uncovered any yet - Firestone tires? I have 36000 on the ones I am running and I have got 15k left on them easy. Paint is thin in some areas. If you buy a diesel and want it to last my recommendation is do some studying and learn how to properly maintain you truck - Coolant system, proper oils, and air filtration. If you want a hot rod by a gas engine. The fit and finish on this truck is very good. My former truck a C2500 chevy did not have the payload capacity of this truck to haul wood and sod. The gas mileage with the 6 speed is noteworthy. I can squeeze 20 mpg Similar Products Used: None, this is my first diesel and my first Ford I am pleasntly pleased. |

Gas mileage could be better. The paint job could be a little bit better also, Not holding up. another thing, there are no cup holders in the back, that really sucks. this truck has bailed me out more than once. I have 25,000 miles on it and so far has had no problems. I am a girl with a lead foot, I drive this truck pretty hard and so far no problems. I just broke it in.... Love the engine. Has the power and strength to do anything. It is very roomy and comfortable. Has a lot of leg room and head room. We are pleasantly suprised with its performance. I am not a large person and was intimidated at first driving such a large vehicle, but quickly got the nack for it. I love it and so does my husband.
Weakness:
The turning radius could be a little better but what do you expect from such a big truck. Get powerseats if you aren't extremely tall or you will have trouble reaching the pedals. (especially if you get the split bench seat in front. I love this truck and am very pleased with its performance. We travel a lot and have had some great experiences in it already. IT is very comfortable and easily driven. The diesel motor lulls you into a very easy pace for traveling. Similar Products Used: My husband drives a Freightliner and heavy equipment trailer by day and loves this truck at night. I had a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee before this truck and am suprised how easily I adapted. NO COMPARISON IN POWER OR STRENGTH OF VEHICLES |

I have been marginally impressed with the 1999 Ford F250 V10 I own. The shocks haven't stopped squeaking since I bought it and the horsepower of the V10 does not equate to very much torque when I am towing. Its been a good product. Not Great! |

The engine!!! The main reason I bought the truck was for the 7.3 liter turbo deisel and I love it. Plenty of power. Very roomy, comfortable to drive. Fuel mileage is excellent, 18-19 highway and around town. Towing/payload capacity is great. Ford has done an outstanding job with the new(er) body style. Regular/standard maintanence is quick and easy. All the little features add up, from the versatile beverage holders to the locking tailgate. Very good truck.
Weakness:
My fault, shouldve bought the 4WD. Already got it stuck a few times. Advice for the perspective buyers - GET THE 4WD! I have always liked the Ford super duty trucks. I have waited 9 years (since I got my drivers license) to be able to obtain/afford this truck, my brand new super duty. I dont regret it one bit. The dealership I bought it from treated me good, thats a first. It runs great, looks great and drives great. Similar Products Used: 1984 F250 Deisel regular cab long bed 4WD, this thing is a beast, my father still owns it, it wont die! Looks great, Engine is super smooth and quiet. Fits 6 people no problem. Comfortable interior. I bought it used but the quality seems very good so far.
Weakness:
Defrost is weak, door ajar light stays on when switch sticks. Ride is very stiff, but that what this truck is all about. This truck gives you an awesome feeling when you're driving it. Even the V8 has plenty of power. It can be customized in and out easily. Pretty expensive new, but at $18,000 this was a good buy used with 67,000 miles and in nice shape. The stiff ride is the biggest drawback, but it is worth it when you need the strength of a Super Duty. Coming from a Toyota, I am concerend about long-term durability with the Ford, but the truck is still VERY tight with 67k miles on it. Similar Products Used: Toyota Pickup.
