Drove them for a living (tow trucks) hell for durable and dependable, so I bought myself one and it is soooo sweet. Strong engine, solid build, very comfortable, no B.S.

Model Reviewed: crew cab long bed 4X4 PSD 6speed

Strength:

awesome pulling power great fuel economy quieter than the Cummins proven reliability (Duramax hasn''t been out long enough to be really proven) All aspects of this vehicle seem to be very well engineered.

Weakness:

seats are not quite as comfortable as the ones found in GM trucks.

My truck is a 2001 Super Duty XLT Crew Cab Long Bed 4X4 SRW with the Powerstroke Diesel and a 6 speed transmission. I''ve had my Super Duty for about a year and a half now, and I would have to say it is the best vehicle that I have ever owned. It is very comfortable to ride in for both long distance hauling or just across town. I''ve read other reviews that mentioned needing lots of space for u-turns. I have the longest Super Duty made and I have never had any trouble being able to park or turn it around. It pulls much better than the 1998 Ram 3/4 ton Cummins that I drove previously. The Ford is much more isolated from road and engine noise than the Dodge, which makes it less tiring to be in. I have averaged about 18 mpg in the city and about 20-21 mpg on the highway. These figures don''t seem to change regardless of whether or not I am pulling a load. I have not had any maintenance issues to deal with other than routine oil changes. I also had a Rhino bedliner sprayed in. I would highly recommend Rhino above all other spray in liners. I would recommend a Ford Super Duty without hesitation to anyone who needs a really tough truck for work or hauling. I believe that I hit on the perfect combination for pulling with the Ford: a Powerstroke and a 6 speed.

Strength:

NONE!

Weakness:

oil leaks, warranty, dealership, sales staff, owner, mechanics for sure, and the vehicle as a whole.

Awful. The worst vehicle and manufacturer to deal with.To date I have 6 oil leaks(ongoing),transmission sticks, rear end leaks, brakes noise and problems, door sqeeks, uses LARGE amounts of oil, and much more. A lemon if I ever saw one. Ford denies all yet I haven''t been able to use in my business, has forced out of business and has sat since November 2001.A lawsuit is in progress .Will never buy another Ford produst. I haad a 1986 E-350 with 499,998 miles and only used a qt. of oil every 5000 miles. Was a gem compared to this.Buyers beware! When you complain they cancel your warranty, and all programs.

Model Reviewed: F250 SD Crew Cab

Strength:

Excellent power and handling. Great room and general comfort. All seals are tight and the cab is nice an quiet. Towing was an impressive 15MPG. Sound systems is the best and overall instuments are well laid out. Exterior paint is great. Access to all fluids under the hood is nice.

Weakness:

Why would anyone put a 27 gal. tank in a rig that is meant to haul like this one is beyond common sense????? How about at least a 40 gal! They need to add a convex mirror on the right since the flat does not provide good views down the right(passange) side. The front dash cup holders are worthless. I have 4 cups worth of coffee on the carpet already. An AC plug in the back seat area would have been smart. I added my own. With the Crew Cab, I would have expected a rear heater/AC vent to keep the cold/hot spots to a minumum. Did I mention the gas tank??? I wish the rear seat folded flat or came out for those rare days of needed safe, dry storage.

After several long (Over 400 miles each RT) trips and about 2000 miles of city driving, I have these observations. Overall, I like this truck. However, I am not fond of the wondering on the highway. (I am working with a tire guy to see if I can change to a softer tire for better travel. Currently a hard 10 ply) I like the height and confidence on corners. No rear hop as expected on corner bumps. Very smooth shifting and good cruse control. No gear hunting on hills even when towing a boat. I have the V8 5.4l electronic automatic with the 3.73 rear. I wish I had gotten the limited slip so that I did not have to jump into 4WD all the time. (MN winters and icy boat ramps) I have a small vibration in the front that could be fixed wth a new set of tires as well. The front bench seat seams too narrow for big guys. My left leg hangs off the side and my knee sita against the hard door side. Also, the steering wheel seems to sit farther to the left then needed. After getting used to the big blind spot on the right front side, I can manage this truck well. It was a little scary pulling into the garage at first.

Strength:

Fuel economy. Power

Weakness:

Ride, oil leaks, fuel leaks, CPS, turning radius, glow plug system, and cost of repairs... That never seemed to end..

This is my 2nd PSD. I also had a 95. Both engines had to be removed for a Rear oil seal leak. Both have had glow plug problem. Both had the CPS changed. Water Pump went out at 40k miles. 200 dollar front end alignments. Other problems include the fuel lines and pump leaking. Auto hubs breaking. Brake jobs that cost alot. The ride is very stiff and jarring when empty. The truck needs an 18 lane hiway to make a u-turn. I owned a dodge before the PSDs.. Not one time in 140,000 miles did the truck spend one day in the shop!!. This is MY Last Powerstroke. If any one is in the Salt Lake area, stay away from "EXECUTIVE AUTO Sales".. They promised in writing to repair a dent in the truck.. After the sale they renigged and said they won''t pay for the damage!!!

If I tried to type them all my fingers would be sore for a month and a half.

Well this is junk! I went to bob''s junk yard and thought I got a steal untill I had to replace two different manifolds! The next week I had an engine fire and battery acid leaked in the carbuerater!!!! Then it started to rust out near the passenger side after 7 inches of sleet. Then I later found that I had a transmission fluid leak and got stalled in Chicago for 2 days. The reason it took two days is because my buddy was coming for his ford explorer and on the way his firestone tires popped. Then my third door got stuck and the police had to get it open with a crowbar.
