Strength:

A lot of power for the truck, lock-outs, Solid axle, manual shift of transfercase, plenty of room, quad cab

Weakness:

48000 miles and on second brake job (first brake job was within 24 hours of buying the truck!!!!warped rotors!!, warrenty work (I'm not used to being called a liar by dealership about my driving habits) requires a lawer to justify you wanting service, fuel gauge sticks-I have to prove it with a cam corder, speedometer quits at 78.5 in below zero weather (intertstate driving)I must prove the problem with a camcorder, truck is on its second turbo-oil leaks, bad mileage-but that comes with a big truck. Cup holders need rethinking, light switch is hidden from view by the steering wheel, seat belts are troublesome in the front seat, no cupholers for the rear

Based on my research on the net, Ford needs to take a long look at their front brakes on the Superduty's, the rotors on the front have a reputation of warping (stuck calipers or weak rotors). There are just too many Ford ('99 Superduty)owners out there having this problem, I predict a massive recall of these trucks for this problem. The cab is nice, the power is there when you want it, the tranmission is excellent. I believe Ford may want to get in touch with their dealerships more, mine is a pain in the but and I can't recommend buying from them. If Ford can figure out these front brakes, they will have a fine truck!

Strength:

Big, beautiful, 4x4, dually truck. Drives great. Great salesperson and dealership. Surprised me, too.

Weakness:

Nothing yet. If this truck is anything like the 1992 I traded in it has few weaknesses.

I love driving this truck. I traded in a 1992 F350, dually, and used it to pull a 12000 lb. fifth wheel. It performed great. I imagine this one will too. I have also owned Toyota pickups and a new T-100. I loved the T-100 but it would not pull my boat up and down the mountains of Kentucky like the larger F350. Now, as for rating this truck it deserves a solid four, but I see below me a dodge lover has given an unrealistic rating for these reveiws, so I'll give it a five.

I especially like the looks of this truck. All the power I will ever need in a truck. Very roomy inside

Weakness:

Gas mileage sucks. I bought this truck used with 34000 miles on it and I'm getting about 10-11 mpg. I hope that gets better. So far, I've had no problems with it.

If you need power, want a good looking truck, and need room to spare then this is the truck for you. If you drive very far daily, get ready to spend money at the gas pump.

Awesome power Truck moves really good own its own for being a 4x4. Tows great

Weakness:

I hate the awfull tire wear this truck has. The camber is out .2 on the drivers side and .4 on the pass side it is cupping the tires real bad. I keep taking to differant places to get it realined and they say thats the best it will do. Ford doesnt offer the right bushings to bring the camber to 0. You can look at these Ford trucks and see that the camber isnt right with the naked eye. I wish ford didnt just throw these things together and made better adjustments on the front axles.

I recomend the new Chevrolet hd truck with the new turbo Diesel they took their time in putting this one together

Best looking of the Big P/U's, nice highway cruiser, comfy interior, lots of room. Pushed a plow real nice.

Weakness:

Brakes, Hubs, Dealer Service, Fords own customer service. All you had to do was watch Ford scramble over the Firestone deal, its obvious they could care less about what they sell.

Ok, This is a follow up to my earlier posting.
Yes, Ford did buy my truck back, and they had to pay me back almost all of the money i had into the truck, insurance, add-ons, etc.
We wound up in my states lemon law court, here's the break down.
A. One should not plow with a ext.cab F250HD. The Body builders manuel says so. They don't make their own bodies, someone else does.
B. If you do plow, you need to put 500lbs or so in the bed.
C. The dealer is supposed to tell you this, hell, they put the plow on, isn't that amasing.
D. Tried to get them to extend the warranty, for at least 3 more years on the brakes etc. The Factory rep said nope.
E. The Factory Rep, ie engineer, had his head up his ass. He knew less than the dealer did.
F. Here's a suggestion, if you must buy this truck, have your head examined. The dealer support is next to meaningless, and forget about getting any help from FMC. I was a Ford man, not no more.

JOEY POWERS

Strength:

I love the new f-series trucks because they are so tough. They hold their
own in the roughest conditions. They are very cheap and inexpensive to lift, but they are already very high, which is good for off-roading. I have
the triton v-10 in my f-250, it rules lots of torque to pull anything.

Weakness:

When it is raing hard, and you want to have a ciggarett, it drips water in
the truck from the top of the window, I fixed that problem with window visors. The truck is awsome except for the faulty Firestone tires, that it
came of the production line with.

I paid $25,000 Canadian for my truck, which was a resonable price for the
quality of truck I got. The new CHEVY SILVERODO'S are $ 10,000 more.
I would recomend buying the f-sreies trucks without a doubt. If you are going to be pulling a trailer or fith-wheel I would recomend the Power-Stroke Diesl, up to 14 thousand pounds max towing capacity.

big pimpin

Strength:

nice big truck. lots of power. great paint job.

Weakness:

everything else. poor craftsmanship. typical ford, problems galore. That's why here the letters stand for "Found On Road Dead" or "Fix Or Repair Daily".

Where I live these trucks aren't the best. Great for the highway and also for pulling trailers but then again who would want to pull a trailer for 50 miles and then end up walking or hitching the next 300. Drove a full size Chevy (great truck) but ended up getting it stuck in the sand. Brought the ford off road and couldn't even get it around boulders in tight spots. Ride sucked because the firm, swaying ride over rough terrain made my neck hurt. Chevy has better ride. And to whoever said that Toyota doesn't belong in this category. He was right!!! Toyota belongs in a category by itself. When the little Tacomas are putting out about the same amount of Horsepower something is not right. The tundras are even better. Took one out on some major off-roading and it handles great stock. Touched a bit underneath but nothing a 4 or 6 in lift wouldn't solve. Lots of power and torque. We're talking 0-60 in like under 8 seconds. Try 0-60 in under 8 minutes for the domestics.
I like the looks of the ford but hate the fact that it is still made by overpayed people who want raises when they should stick to emphasizing quality. Jap or other import focus on quality why shouldn't we. Now what if BMW came out with a full size truck with one of their great V-8 engines spinning those tires???

Strength:

It has 4 doors [full size]The diesel is ok bad milage

Weakness:

The front axel is going back for the 6th time. I'm on the 2nd set of tires at my expense. Fred Jones Ford OKC OK refused to fix damage done trying to cover up sloppy unskilled work. I have 2 different reputable
shops opinion. This damage could not be caused by driving. Then Fred jones mechanic called my personal mechanic out to fight. After 2weeks I finally managed to talk to the head of service. He offered to pay half the expense to repair the damage, but no luck yet this took 3 trys. I have recently been dealing with Joe Cooper Ford. This bunch has tried 2 times in 2 weeks to fix this same problem [4-4 hubs would not work ] now the front axel has a real bad grinding noise. I could deal with having the the work done, but ford will only pay 18.00 a day for rental. This gets a base car of $15,000 maybe. I bought a $35000.00 4x4 that I use most days. This shuts down work or it costs me to upgrade to a 90.00 a day rental so they can work on mine. Fords warranty [SUCKS]!! I have just had my 5th back surgery and getting stuck because the 4-wheel drive gets stuck poses a problem when you have to get out and walk for help.

I paid $35000.00 for a pickup so I can have service work on it at my expense and I can pay more to drive a rental car. I like the 4/4 p/s 4 door but I havent had any luck with [service and warranty]needs big changes

Model Reviewed: 7.3L Turbo 250

Strength:

The vehicle feels strong. the 7.3 Deisel will pull most any thing as long as the wheels have traction. My truck was special ordered, I got it with out the crew cab to be able to put atv's etc in the long bed, and still pull 6000 lbs behind me when going to the mountains to hunt and not even feel the weight behind the truck. Ive got a standard, 6 speed and when driving anywhere this vehicle shows more poweer in 6th gear than any other other vehicle that Ive driven. The vehicle is just plain comfortable to be in and a pleasure. I get about 18-19 mpg with air on and about 13-14 towing 4-5000. My next one will be a crew cab and most likely an automatic but I'll stick with the 250

Weakness:

The rear roters had to be turned at 250 miles, the original dealer, crown ford of fayetteville told me it was a problem with "Armor All" being sprayed on the wheels-- theysaid that 3 times. Lafayette ford fixed the problem by turning the roters and putting on new pads . This shouldnt have happened, and someone has already mentioned the problem of screwed up roters so ford get off your duff and fix a problem that plegs and an otherwise great truck Im not sure if this may be a weakness with all deisels, but at 3300 miles the " Injecter Pressure Regulator" stopped functioning "On the beach at Occracoke Island" Ford paid for the tow and repairs but I would not like to put up with this delema to often. Ford could in general get their dealers to work a bit faster and work their appointment schedules a bit more precisely. I don't like where the ciggerette lighter is" under the ashtray" and and the extra power plug in is above the right side cup holder and with something plugged in "cell phone" it cant be used without puting pressure on the cup or wire. The accessary wires running from under the dash out to under" for hook-up of cb's etc could be a bit heavier and for sure "longer"!! If nothing else put a place in the fire wall so we can put our own wires through. As of yet Ive got only 9000 miles on the truck and Ill reserve judgement on the firestone tires and the transmission. I may sound upset, Im not because what Id consider to be a weakness in my ford is 5 times better and stronger than a Dodge or a Gmc/Chevy

An outdoorsman or a family who likes to rv would be happy with the 250 deisel. It has class, looks, comfort, versitility, and most of all pure power. The power stroke deisel, in my book sets the f-series apart from all the others. In the 28-34000 dollar bracket, it may seem a bit high but I dont think you'll find a better vehicle for that price. You get what you pay for, It's Solid. Ford dealers
