Ford F-150 (2010 and older) Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

The Ford F-150 pickup can haul more cargo and tow a heavier trailer than any of its competitors. And with a fully boxed frame, the F-150 has the strongest chassis in its class. Engineered and tested to withstand more punishment than your most difficult tasks, the F-150 is Built Ford Tough to come through with the dependability you expect in this full-size pickup.

The current F-150 does come in a host of cab, bed, powertrain, and suspension variations; there are three cab configurations with multiple wheelbases and box lengths each, providing choices to satisfy just about any trucker's need with the F-150. Properly outfitted, the F-150 can tow 10,700 pounds--while earning five-star frontal crash-test scores. A choice of V-8 engines comes with either four- or six-speed automatic transmissions, but no V-6 engine option is offered.

Looks like everybody elses truck. 5.5 foot bed may haunt you at times.

Have about 28000 miles on my 20014x4 supercrew. 4.6 engine is a little lite for heavy towing but otherwise very good.Mileage from 14-20mpg. Not a rattle. Comfortable alternative to my old Suburban.

More torque then Chevy. Bettering looking then Chevy. Exhaust upgrade sounds better then a Chevy upgrade.

Weakness:

Chevys are weaknesses. Ford is not!

Best truck ive ever owned out of 4 vehicles. This truck has got the torque where you need it most!! The extended cab (which I have) is nice for that excellent space to store things or drive more friends from and to places. I simply love it! What more can I say

Model Reviewed: F-150 Extra Cab Sport

Strength:

Solidly built. Handles well. Looks good. After sale service has been great.

Weakness:

The seats are terrible. The front shocks are inadequate.

My truck is a 2001 F-150 Extra Cab Sport with the Flare Side bed. The engine is the 5.4 V-8. The rear axle ratio is 3.54:1. Overall, it drives and handles very well. Gas mileage runs around 18 MPG, seemingly regardless of cruising speed. The engine is smooth, quiet, and has good torque. The truck is solidly built and gives the impression that it will last for a very long time. The ride is firm - as one would expect from a truck - but not harsh. Unfortunately, the seats are killers. They are far too firm and are not ergonomically shaped. You sit on them - not in them. Or, rather, you "bounce" on them. And the combination of firm suspension and overly firm seats really "beats you up" on a long drive. This makes a long drive very tiring and can even be painful. Unfortunately, this is not noticeable on a short, pre-buy test drive - or I would have bought a GMC. As it is, I am either going to have to sell the truck or shell out $2000 for a set Recaro seats. I have gotten this feed-back from other owners as well, so I know it's not just me. Even the service advisor at Peninsula Ford told me that numerous owners had complained about this. Ford Motor Company's response has been "Tough; you should have noticed this on the test drive". And I would have if they had let me take it on a hundred mile test drive. After sale service at Peninsula Ford in Palo Alto has been exceptional. I have been very pleased. The stock shocks, especially the front, are far too soft and cause the front to "porpoise" over sharp bumps or dips. I installed Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks on the front and they made a very noticeable improvement. The brakes seem to be quite adequate for anything but extreme useage. Everything considered, it is a good vehicle - right up to, but not including, the seats. Buy a GMC.

Strength:

Excellent work truck. Good torque and towing capabilities. Long bed great for camping trips.

As the previous reviewer stated, "the truck meets all my needs,it has the performance of a sportcar you can race, the looks of a lowrider you can cruise, room for 4 family car,and its a truck now what else can i want?" This is a falicy, and I don't think you should be coaxing people into buying this truck by giving them the impression that this is some sort of all in 1 wonder vehicle, because it's not. Performance. An F-150 is slower than your average v6 coupe. Nice torque, but no impressive acceleration or top speed. And don't even talk about handling seriously. If you intend to take sharp turns at high speeds in this vehicle, then you should be eliminated by natural selection. And braking for a heavy vehicle is not going to be good at all. Especially if you have cargo in back. Looks? Not when stock. It looks like your run of the mill truck. Definately does not turn heads. If you want a show truck. Then you'll have to change the entire exterior. Lowering it, putting expensive wheels on it, and you can say goodbye to the workability of the truck. A family car it is not. The back seats are for children. But dont even insult relatives, friends, or co workers by asking them to sit back there!!

Model Reviewed: F-150 4x2

Strength:

Built Ford Tough. The truck will take a beating. Holds up well with little more than normal maintenance.

Weakness:

Front brakes. Poor traction in snow unless you weight the back end.

Bought the truck new. It now has 185,000 miles and is still going strong. It gets used for anything from driving to work to hunting and fishing along the dirt roads in the mountains of PA. The engine uses no oil and has never needed much more than tune ups and oil changes. Had to replace the water pump at 175000. Had to have the trans rebuilt at 146000. Body has no rust (the truck gets washed twice a year). The paint color is still good but it has tended to chip easily. Interior is still good. Have always had a problem with front brakes that I've heard is common on these trucks. I was going to trade her in on a Chevy but after reading the reviews, I think I'm better off keeping it than driving a new Chevy. (never liked bow ties anyway)

Model Reviewed: Ford F-150 SuperCrew Lariat FX4

Strength:

Powerful 5.4 V8 Engine, Heated Seats, exreamly comfortable ride and really nice handling.

Weakness:

No optional Reverse Parking Aid, No rear climate control, couldnt hurt to put a few more horses under the hood.

I just turned in the lease on my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, and picked up the lease on a 2002 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat FX4. It is a really nice truck. The 5.4 gives it plenty of power, but not as much as my old NAV. The FX4 is a nice package to have, and I like the aftermarket shocks. The radio could use some improvement as far as the sound and base quality. Iv only had it for about 3 weeks and have about 900 miles on it. Gas mileage could be a little bit better, but for 260 horses, it’s pretty good. Ill give you guys an update as the lease progresses. Ford did a good job on designing this truck. Keep up the good work.

Model Reviewed: F150 XLT Supercab

Strength:

4.6 V8 is a strong, solid engine. I averaged 17mpg, although most people complain of getting less. Smooth ride, roomy interior and the XLT package came with everything I wanted.

Weakness:

The only problem I had which required a repair was the steering shaft, which was replaced under warranty.

I traded in my 99 Ranger for the F-150 becuase I wanted more room. After 2 1/2 years of owning this, I just purchased a 2002 F150 super crew.
