shortbed f-150 ext. cab lariat
Strength:
Quiet smooth running engine. Barely hear it run. Responsive engine and tranny. Pull 16 foot boat regularly. never given a problem pulling. Has always given me what I needed and more. Nice leather interior.
Weakness:
Blows interior and power window fuses daily. Gas mileage not good 12 in town best on trip ever was to guntersville w/o boat and got 15.5 mpg. However just added a k&n air filter and dual exhaust. Flowmaster single in and dual out. Nice rumble not loud though. What I stressed when it was installed. Now getting 2-3 mpg better in all applications. Recommend this truck because it has never let me down. Always pulls whatever I need and then some. Similar Products Used: 92 chevy 4.3. Pulls the pants off it. 96 chevy 6.5 turbo diesel. Great engine but normal diesel noise. Good truck though. |

F150 Sport
Strength:
Nice looking. Roomy.
Weakness:
After only four months, I had to replace the Transfer Case. I have spoke to other owners of the F150 Sport, and all but one have had to replace the Transfer Case within the first year. Now, at 5 months, the tranny is making "clunking" noises. The mechanic says it may have something to do with the transfer case being put in wrong? Glad this was a lease, and NOT a purchase. I won't buy another one. Overall, it is decent. Don't buy it if you need to use the 4WD alot. It's fine when it works, but the transfer case tends to go out within the first year. My husband and father got stranded on a flat gravel road, when the 4WD went out. What a walk they had. |

Ford F-150 Extended Cab
Strength:
Apperarence, Dependability
Weakness:
Accelleration (the up side to this is I get as high as 20 miles to the gallon in a big truck) I love my truck. This was the first BIG purchase I made and even paying out that payment every month isn't that bad since I enjoy the truck still after a year and a half. I get more complements on mine constantly. Mine is an XL, but it is all the way decked out for an XL. This saved me a grip of cash. As far a performance goes, pickup isn't the greatest, but #1 we are talking about an extended cab truck and #2 I get pretty decent milage out of my truck compared to some of my buddies with the V8 or 10. I've got the smaller 4.2L v6 but it still does ok if it has to. Inside the truck is plenty roomy....I would GET THE ENTENDED CAB! You'll regret it later if you don't. I'm a big boy, 6' 3" 300 Lbs. and I've got plent of room in this truck. My overall opinion on the 1999 Ford f-150 is two thumbs way the heck up. My dad is on his 4th Ford truck and he's never had one go bad on him...I plan to have the same luck on my forth Ford. Similar Products Used: First vehicle owned |

Strength:
I love the whole truck. This is a car that both old and young people can like. It has great pick up and a sweet stylish look. Its 4.6L V8 can put out some major power when you put it to the floor, and its 18 inch tires give it a killer look.
Weakness:
I wish that my truck had a little more power. There are many times that other trucks can take me off the line, but I can leave them standing in my dust. I also wish that ford would have dual exhaust on this truck. I had to customly put dual exhaust on it and it rumbles. It might not take a corvette off the line, but you won't be left in the dust with this truck. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone that wants a truck that drives like a muscle car. It has power, luxury, and a great system. If you are interested in a truck, this is the one to get. It is not that overpowering, but if you don't like speed, then don't get this vehicle. Similar Products Used: It compares real well to the silverado and the ram. Even though I have not driven those 2 I have been in them and could tell the differences. |

F150 5.4L
Strength:
Ride,5.4l is outstanding in power, speed, accleration, torque. driven offroad through sand dunes and washes in the Arizona heat(105 plus)for hours on end and AC blasting with no hesitation. Pulled another vehicle through mountain passes 9000ft plus crusing at 75mph with ease. This rides better than a friends Accord. High clearance ride off the lot.
Weakness:
Turning Radius If you look at the Chevy or GMC reviews near all trucks are pre 1996, what has happened to their engineering since then. I would recommend this truck to all from the urban cowboy to the offroad enthusiast. Ford is number one by far, but I would buy Dodge or Chevy instead of an import. I support the American workers and economy. Similar Products Used: 99 GMC (Generic Manufacturin Company) was way too low for offroad use and inside design was disguisting. I would ,however, buy the GMC over an Import. Dodge 99 Inside too tight , ride too stiff , but the engine was all power. Toyota is not a full size truck, that is why you never see them being used as work trucks. Ford engineers got them beat in all categories. |

None Ford F150 is in big trouble. The Insurance Institute just tested the crashworthiness of large trucks. The F150's structure and safety cage collapsed on its self. According to the results, if the dummy was a person he would have been killed in the accident. The F150 posted the worst results. The Toyota Tundra posted the best results. According to the latest news, Toyota is raising there prices as a result of the test. The price of F150's will be dropping dramatically as a result of this humilating news. Strength:
Excellent driveability, quiet, smooth ride for a big vehicle. Towed a 24 ft. trailer in the fall without any trouble. Hauls big loads without a whimper. My wife loves to drive as much as I do. Nice interior, great motor, solid feel under all conditions.
Weakness:
Gas mileage isn't all that bad, about 16-20 mpg. Will try a K&N air filter. Have a crack in driver's door that I am going to address with Ford. Driver's window was seizing until I sprayed inside of windows with lube. No problems to mention otherwise. Nicest all round vehicle I have owned. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a great vehicle that doubles as a family vehicle and a work truck. Quite an improvement over Fords of old. Similar Products Used: My buddy has a 1998 GMC and there is no comparison. His fuel economy is far worse and my friend with a Dodge wishes he'd bought one like mine. He says there is no comparison to quality and driveability. His truck rides like a barn, is cheaply finished, and wanders badly. |

f-150 stx
Strength:
The looks of the stx are great, lots of room with the extended cab.
Weakness:
I purchased this truck with 22000 miles on its 4.6l triton engine. After the first month of ownership we noticed the engine was burning 1qt per 900miles. Also, the engine began to ping and knock loudly when under any load. when taken to the dealership for repairs they said it was within factory specifications. Any moron would no otherwise. 7 times it was taken in for repairs they said pinging was normal and it would do no damage to an engine, and if it burns a quart of oil per 900 miles or more is within spec's. If this is normal ford has a serious defect in there production. Beware of this and if you here knocking dont let them give you the lines they gave me. This is a ford scape-goat to piss poor products. I really like the F-Series looks but engine quality is terrible. Ford has a lot of ground to make up if they want a strong, well running engine. This truck runs great with the 4.6l engine and does a great burnout
Weakness:
there's not enough sound quality in the stereo The 4.6 has a very good acceleration. My cousin has a Dodge with a 5.2 and he was dissin' my truck by saying that it doesn't run for sh1t. I asked him if he wanted to race them and we did. my truck beat his truck by a length of about 1-1 1/2 cars. he was embarrased and hasn't said anything about my truck since. Now Chevy, that's a different story. i respect Chevy alot. i had a chevy with a 5.7. it ran like hell. i beat EVERY truck that was in my way with that chevy. overall, i still like chevy, but if you want an extended cab that can hall a55, get a ford. Similar Products Used: Dodge and Chevy. Dodge doesn't compare and chevy is awesome. |
