Ford F-150 (2010 and older) Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

The Ford F-150 pickup can haul more cargo and tow a heavier trailer than any of its competitors. And with a fully boxed frame, the F-150 has the strongest chassis in its class. Engineered and tested to withstand more punishment than your most difficult tasks, the F-150 is Built Ford Tough to come through with the dependability you expect in this full-size pickup.

The current F-150 does come in a host of cab, bed, powertrain, and suspension variations; there are three cab configurations with multiple wheelbases and box lengths each, providing choices to satisfy just about any trucker's need with the F-150. Properly outfitted, the F-150 can tow 10,700 pounds--while earning five-star frontal crash-test scores. A choice of V-8 engines comes with either four- or six-speed automatic transmissions, but no V-6 engine option is offered.

Strength:

Smooth, awesome power from the 5.4 L(excellent low end grunt, too) Very smooth driving, very confident feel. ABS system works great. Instant 4x4 engagemnt.

Weakness:

Go for the opt. limted slip rear end. It's hard to take off and not spin with my open 3.55 gear when wet. Ave. about 15 MPG with it, but expected with a 4600 curb weight.

This is the smoothest truck I've ever driven (sometimes I have to fight my wife for it.), yet capable and confident enough to handle whatever off-road trip you have in mind. The 5.4L's power comes on strong right off idle, great for pulling or hauling. The transmission has near seamless shifts. ABS brakes are the best in the business(very important with pickups). This versatile pickup is great for the moderate hauler(under 9000 lbs.), the homeowner or the basic commuter. If you prefer the sports car size and feel, look somewhere else. But when this one goes, I'll be back in line at the Ford dealer for another one.

Strength:

Its aerodyanamic look!, Offroad capability, perfect! Its Engine is super strong! The engine responce is so precise, towing was never been a problem, the hanlding is not bad.

Weakness:

I should say its fuel consumption! SUCKS! Like in my case, Im just a college student here in Manila, I have to spend big time just to use my it, I think I have to refuel it every other day and that freaks me and my budget. Also one thing more its braking system. its poor! its breakig responce is late sometime, emergency braking is not on its vocabulary.

I would recomend it to all towing companies here in Manila Philippines. Its great on towing!

Strength:

Quiet, wife can drive it.

Weakness:

Six cylinder is a little weak at low revs

Of all the trucks I've owned this is the runaway favorite. This is the first truck my wife likes to drive. The ride is family car smooth and almost as quiet as a Lexus. I can drive this truck for a five hour roadtrip and not feel like I've been riding a horse for an hour.

I still use it for construction and despite the ride it's as tough as any truck I've had before, although I might stress a little more when I get my first dent.

I picked the six cyl. because there are no hills in the keys. The truck downshifts when towing and doesn't have the low end torque that a 8 has but I'm getting used to it.

Strength:

So very quiet, and very roomy. Love the four doors and the RDS Stereo. Think the Chestnut color is awesome and so are the chrome rims. Looks good with the upgraded tires (BFG Long Trails).

Weakness:

Gas Mileage (but hey, its a big truck with the 5.4L). Wish there was a powerpoint in the console like the Superduty (and my buddies Avalon). Also wish the trip computer was like the one in the Superduty.

Got a great deal from the local dealer. Would reccomend this truck to anyone. Great power! Feel like I could pull the house down the street (may try after a few beers...Just kidding). Always go with the spray in liner.....it works great. Also like the trailer hitch and hookup....makes for easy use of hauling my cattle to and from my ranch.

This truck was factory equipped with a dual fuel setup. And, the truck looked pretty good. The 5.4 engine would run. This thing would smoke the tires forever.

Weakness:

It has 7-bolt wheels. At 2,400 mi. the engine started knocking. It took the ford dealer 2 months to replace it. At about 5,000 mi. it started knocking again, thats when I got rid of it. Mileage was 9 on gas, 6 on lp.

The Triton engine is more like a Tryten engine. This truck was on try two, when you get to try ten, you through it away and buy- well, you buy anything thats not a ford. One good thing, you don't have to change the oil, you just change the engine every 3,000 miles.

Quite, roomy, ride, power with the v6 and auto averdrive is exceptional

Weakness:

Windshield glass breaks easily in these models-back seats could be more comfortable

This is my second ford f150. I still own a 96 f150 with 130,000 miles that has had one belt and one set of brakes installed, and there have been no problems. my 2001 is getting anaverage of 18mpg in Dallas area driving with the air running. This is an axceptional value for the room, quality, comfort, and duralibility of a truck.

Looks good. Drives good.

Weakness:

Over the years I have had many brake problems both the disks and drums but also mastercylinder. I have had the truck in the shop several times for exhaust manifold leaks the Ford garage says the manifold get warped and that it is a common problem ($600 plus). The E4OD automatic transmission went out at 90,000 miles and cost $2000 plus to rebuild. Luckily the truck is paid for.

My next truck will not be a FORD. I believe the GM trucks are cheaper to fix when the do need repair.

When it blows it looses all the oil (no warning light come on)

Strength:

Great ride, plenty of power in the V6 engine, easy to upgrade most parts.

Weakness:

Brakes, stock tires, drivers side range of view w/o moving the body to peek in the other lane, oil filter location, carbon build-up in the intake manifold

Really had no major problems, just had to have the 4x4 shifter(manual) replaced that was loose from the factory and ford has redesigned it, This truck is sporty and very dependable. Stock tires had to go, I still do not know why ford still puts an undersized tire on their trucks. After replacing them, better handling and traction, throw away the Goodyear AP's!
I upgraded for more power and style and like the truck even better.
With simple upgrades such as: K&N airfilter, performance chip, throttle base plate, and a larger air flow sensor, this V6 runs with the big V8's
For better braking, I put a master cylinder and power booster from a F-250 on the 150 and way better braking. Also invested in a steering stabilizer for much better control for off road use, even helps out a-lot in the rain and crosswinds.

Strength:

This truck has 225,000 miles and still runs like it's brand new. It is very reliable, even as a daily drive. I have had the truck for four years and have put 100,000 miles on in that time. The engine, a 351, has never been rebuilt, only the transmission.

Weakness:

It is a regular cab, and an extended cab would be better. The ride is pretty stiff.

This truck hauls anything I ask it to, it runs great all of the time. There is never any worry of a failure, since it has been so reliable.

Similar Products Used:

I also own a 1995 F-150 extended cab. It is a lot roomier, and the ride is friendlier. The reliability of both are excellent.
