Ford F-150 (2010 and older) Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

The Ford F-150 pickup can haul more cargo and tow a heavier trailer than any of its competitors. And with a fully boxed frame, the F-150 has the strongest chassis in its class. Engineered and tested to withstand more punishment than your most difficult tasks, the F-150 is Built Ford Tough to come through with the dependability you expect in this full-size pickup.

The current F-150 does come in a host of cab, bed, powertrain, and suspension variations; there are three cab configurations with multiple wheelbases and box lengths each, providing choices to satisfy just about any trucker's need with the F-150. Properly outfitted, the F-150 can tow 10,700 pounds--while earning five-star frontal crash-test scores. A choice of V-8 engines comes with either four- or six-speed automatic transmissions, but no V-6 engine option is offered.

Strength:

Nice looks, good payload in the box. Rides smooth.

Weakness:

Engine. Pings and lacks power.

I agree with Simon. Nice truck, 4.6L engine stinks. Been pinging for over a year. Doesn''t matter if I tow or drive myself to work. Dealership can''t fix. No answers from Ford as to why either. Don''t think I''ll buy another one. Not if they can''t improve the engine. They really need to have better customer service to keep what it needs to stay in business...the consumer!

The power of this truck comperted to the Toyatos,VW pick ups I have owened
is awersome, and everyboby in on our small roads in England moves over when they see this beast coming.

Weakness:

Im now 43 and always owened american since I was 16(mustangs,corvettes,de-vells,chargers).
Im glad I bought a older F150, the newer ones almost look to euopropeion or jap.

First american pick up I have bought.
I'm really happy with it, but I need more information about it.
It gives me about 16 mpg,its a 4+2, 302cu inch 5 speed manual.
It has extended cab with a full 8 feet buck.
Questions; What is the custom model,am I getting good gas milage with it.
Im a farmer, what weight can I carry on it.

Strength:

Has been very dependable, good load capabilities, comfortable captains chairs, good handling.

Weakness:

Problems with cracked manifolds, and front automatic locking hubs. Stereo is marginal. Truck likes to eat tires every 30,000 miles

I have owned this truck for 9 years now. For the most part it has been a great truck. Like with other owners, I experienced 2 cracked passenger side manifolds. The truck has a 5.0 V8. Has been a great engine. Excellent if your not towing anything. Seems to be a little weak towing a medium sized trailer. I enjoy the styling of the 1992 truck much more than the new dolphin looking Ford trucks. It's hard to believe that the new ones are the best selling trucks. Ford's gonna have to do some major design changes before I ever buy one of thier trucks again. The thing looks like it was designed for a woman. In 1992 Ford seemed to build a better truck. If I purchased a truck now, I would probably purchase GM or GMC. I've heard too many problems with Dodge trucks. As far as japanese trucks, they would look great in the back of my Ford.

For a truck I would recommend a 1992, not the new one though. Olds Cutlass Supreme Int'l - Olds is better quality, Subaru Station Wagon - Same quality, better than a Ford Escort

Strength:

Very Reliable. It has never left me stranded despite never being garaged.

Weakness:

It developed an engine "hesitation" at about 90,000. Still don't know what it is. However, the Ford station said that there is an emition problem.

I bought this truck new and had never had a truck before. I am very pleased with the value. I now have over 210,000 miles on it with only needing routine maintainance/replacement parts.

Model Reviewed: F150 XL Std cab Short Bed

Strength:

Solid ride, excellent engine power, simplicity of design

Weakness:

None discovered yet. It does not get the 32 mpg that my Geo Tracker gave, but this is a different class of vehicle.

This is the first full size vehicle I have had in 15 years. My previous vehicle was a 94 Geo Tracker, an excellent little vehicle that served me well. I was going to get another, but found this F150 on the lot and took a chance. If I had read the reviews here first I most likely would not have purchased it. People need to understand that any vehicle responds to the proper care and use of it in any application. Pickup trucks are some of the most abused vehicles you see on the road.
The original owner of this truck took good care of it. It is in like new condition. It had only 29000 miles when I purchased it. I plan to get over 200000 miles with it. I will let you know how it works out.

150k miles and still running like a fine watch. I'm the second owner, 1st owner did the maintenance replaced the oil every 2500 miles kept this baby in top shape. No dings not even parking lot shopping cart nicks. A real; eye cather. The ride is super fine the big V8 gets me up and over 70 mph in a heart beat. I would have any other model or year. Wanted a 4x4 but realized that I would only be burning more gas full time for a part-time 4x4, opted for a 2x4 with the bigger V8. Getting about 14 mpg of pure pleasure.

Equal to if not better than a 94 Chevy Silverado and definitely better than the 91 GMC 4x4 short bed.

Roomy and comfortable. very good in snowy conditions.460 engine gives plenty of torque and power.

Weakness:

This truck does excellent on gas as long as you don't start it. Truck also has bad habbit of missing gears over 65 M.P.H (auto trans). Turning radius is also a very inconvenient factor in tight situations

This truck is very reliable but has its every day weaknesses stated above. For what i use it for it is a definate over kill. Be a good puller but not a round the town vehicle.

bought the truck with 12,500 kms and at 20,000 kms the engine began to spark knock really bad, the gas milage went down the toilet. the rear slinding window leaked also the bottom of the doors on the inside were peeling apart. the dealer said there was nothing wrong with the engine and never got back to me about the other isues.

in summary the truck was a waste of time and money . The dealers do not understand that people paid also for proper service.

Model Reviewed: F-150 SC/4x4

Strength:

Styling, performance, and reliability. Used to be a GM guy, then had the fortune of buying a ford (1990). This vehicle is 18 months old and has 57,000 miles, many stucks, one ocean dunking, and it does not rattle, stumble, or leak...anything, not even air noise in the cabin. With larger tires, nothing stands up like a Ford 4x4!

Weakness:

Ford electronics and power steering still suck for the most part. This model also has weak brakes, yes I have the 4 wheel ABS disc, but has anyone actually looked at the rear calipers? A VW has larger displacement rear brakes. The front, just fine. Gas mileage? What gas mileage...if that was a concern I wouldn't drive 50 miles to work (one way)......

The 5.4 is great so far, lots of torque towing or off-road running. The most confortable interior I have ever owned. Everyone speaks of the racey 5.4 against the 5.3 of GM, the GM is faster...but it ain't as strong or dependable. I work with several GM folks and they ALL, not some, ALL, have had their trucks in the shop. My vehicles will get 200,000 miles, and this one doesn't seem like it will let me down. The F-150 SC 4x4 XLT SPORT, package/s, and towing, came at 31 something on the sticker... I got it at 26,400. With all the extra's and the experience so far...it's darn worth it, in todays truck market.
