F-150 XLT 4X4
Strength:
Great acceleration. Very comfortable seats and very reliable. Never had to take it to the shop yet.
Weakness:
Wind noise at high speeds. Very slight ting-ing noise while idling that I have to roll down the window to hear. I like my truck. It runs great, fairly smooth ride, for a pick up that is. I love the soft tonneau (spelling?) cover over the bed that is very useful for keeping stuff in, away from the weather. Its got great acceleration with the 5.8 V8. The electronic shift on the fly four wheel drive works great and is a snap to operate. The bucket type seats are very comfortable and supportive. Also have a 1990 F-250 with the same engine which has run for over 200,000 miles, and the only thing thats ever gone wrong with it was a dead battery. Regular maintenance is definitely a plus. Also got a 1993 F-150 XL. Nothing''s ever gone wrong with that one either.....amazing I hear all these complaints from people about breakdowns and malfunctions.....but nothing ever happens to me. Haven''t done any heavy duty work with my F-150, but the F-250 tackles hauling and towing jobs with anti climatic ease. I guess I''m a Ford truck fan for live unless their quality really goes down the drain...which would be hard to do. Similar Products Used: 1993 F-150, 1990 F-250 |

F150 Ext Cab
Strength:
Great room and comfort if the cab. Like sitting on a big couch! Very comfortable for the long hauls. Engine seems more powerful than a small V6
Weakness:
Possibly the standard transmission. The transmission will grind shifting into 3rd gear (and only 3rd gear) once or twice a week. Also have a hard time getting it to shift back into 1st gear even at a stop once in a great while; say once or twice a month The F150 extended cab with 4.2 V6 and standard transmission is a great buy. Have not had any major problems with it at all. Have over 45K miles on it now and hope to keep if for another 80K plus! Would buy another for sure. Ford F150
Strength:
I can''t think of any better than a chevy.
Weakness:
A lot, and I am tired of typing. I tell you what, this is the worst truck I have ever owned. I have all my life bought Chevrolet, because it was a kind of family tradition, but I figured, why not try the other leading trucks, and I can''t believe Fords lead chevys in sales. They are the worst trucks ever, I should have listened to my father who told me they were junk. The only truck worse than the Ford, (not including those pathetic Japonise models) is the Dodge. I bought a new 2001 dodge also. The dodge is pathetic, I got a 3500 with a v10 engine, and all the good stuff, cost me about $34,000. I was never so disapointed. There are so many problems with dodges. Dodge trys to make their trucks look big, but they have crappy v10s that don''t have near the power a chevy v8 has, can''t pull a bag of garbage. To put it short, I recomend no one ever buys a dodge. Worst trucks ever. All exterior look. Nothing good comes out of them, except that they are about 7 or 8 thouasand less than a chevy. As for ford, they just don''t have what a chevy has, better ride, bigger more powrful standard engine in the 1500s (The chevy 1500 has a bigger better ngine than its egual fords and dodges.) In total I would recomend to anyone, buy a GM vehical. You''ll be a lot happier, I pronmise. Similar Products Used: 2001 Chevy Silverdo 1500, 3500, 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 3500. |

A VERY POWERFUL V-6. IVE GOT A 5-SPEED AND IVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM PASSING OR TOWING. EVEN GOT IN A RACE ON THE HIGHWAY W/ A 5.4 LITER V-8 EXT CAB FORD OF THE SAME YEAR AND BEAT HIM TO 98 MPH, BEFORE THE GOVERNER SHUT IT DOWN.
Weakness:
NOT MANY EXCEPT FOR THE FEW LISTED ABOVE. I OWN A F-150 SHORTBED V-6 AND IT HAS BEEN A GREAT TRUCK. IVE NEVER HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IT. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER DEVICES SCREW UP ON ALL FORD TRUCKS THAT IVE OWNED. ALSO THERE IS A SMALL OIL LEAK THAT IS SO MINUTE IVE BEEN TOLD IT DOESNT EVEN NEED TO GET FIXED YET. ALSO FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF EVERY FEW DAYS OR SO, BUT IT FINALLY QUIT. OVERALL FOR A TRUCK W/68000 MILES ON IT, ITS BEEN GREAT, ID BUY ANOTHER ONE. Strength:
Powerful engine, great towing compacity, planty of room in the front, and performs great.
Weakness:
VERY LITTLE ROOM IN THE BACK SEATS, SAFETY RATING IS VERY LOW. I own a ''97 F-150, with its enourmous V-8 engine. It is an XLT as well as having an X-cab. It preforms well even up mountains, did great on 700+ mile drives, never had any repairs exept for now! The blinker acts up, the transmission makes a funny clicking noise went you put it into gear, and the torque has decentigrated tramendously over the years. Ford F-150 XLT
Strength:
Size, visibility, service needs.
Weakness:
Backseat room The F-150 is a good truck, especially for the cost. My stepfather owns one, and my Mom has an Expedition, and just to make it known, the expedition kicks the F-150''s butt. But anyway, the F-150 XLT runs very nicely, is pretty easy to drive if you can handle a big truck, and requires almost no maintenence. We have had no problems with either one of our vehicles and they''re 1999s. If you like big trucks with roomy beds( the four doors are also a nice touch) then this is the truck for you. Its also "cute" which girls will definitely like. Also, it comes with a 6-disc CD changer, stero cassette. The backseat isn''t too roomy. Don''t buy it as your family car. speed, TRANSMISSION, AIRCONDITIONING, shifting, I started out like my truck...till the day that piece of *hit left me stranded in the middle of the dessert in the middle of the night on the way to vegas with a broken transmission. The truck barely had 5000 miles. It was nightmare and took them for ever to fix it due to the back up of other FORDS they had to fix. Anyways they fixed it only to have the airconditioning go out a few weeks later. Im glad its only a lease cause im not going to buy or recommend a FORD! Similar Products Used: Ford Mustang |

plenty of power, rides smooth, toughest 4x4 I have ever taken off the road,I also like the room inside the cab and the all around size of the truck.
Weakness:
NOTHING SO FAR. I love my truck!!! I think that this truck has plenty of power with the 5.4L. Before I bought this truck I drove the new dodges, chevys, and fords. I have loves chevys all my life but in my opinion niether of these trucks could keep up.Rides smooth, doesnt rattle, pullls like there is nothing behind it. I have always loved chevys but if ford keeps it up they will have a customer for life. Similar Products Used: 1999 dodge,1999 chevy silverado,1998 chevy silverado |

Weakness:
Cheap Motor go back to 351. Cheap body looks sissyfied. Too much like a car. Steering. Bed Space. Rear windows whistle and rattle. I cannot believe I bought this piece of junk. I purchased my crew cab F-150 from a woman here in town. BOY WHAT A MISTAKE!!! The truck was purchased with 1K miles, the owner said the truck was costing her too much money but other than that the truck was perfect. First off the head gasket began to leak. I have heard countless stories of this happening in new Ford Trucks, second the windshield wiper motor stopped working and the windshield sprayers clogged up. (I love Chevy''s in wiper sprayer). Next my stereo which was equipped with a six disk changer stopped working. My low oil pressure warning comes on at various times. The truck struggles to tow any larger than my 21'' boat on a dual axle trailer. Brake Rotors constantly warping according to my "quality service dealer". I am sure that the Motor is having all of it''s problems because of the Over head cam... P.O.S.... That is for cars, be a man Ford... I''ll just take my Chevy, It looks more manly anyway. Even though Chevy has the 5.3L which tows at a higher RPM, the torque band is much longer, giving the truck lasting pull unlike the fords brief jerk of power. And the 5.3 will get better soon, they are just trying to build something that will not fall apart. Similar Products Used: Chevrolet Silverado SLT 5.3L (327) Dodge Ram 1500. Unfortunately |
