Strength:

Interior Room, 4.0L V6 offers plenty of power, Power rear window, the versatility of having a bed + the protective bed liner. Dresses up nice with all the available aftermarket accessories.

Weakness:

Gas mileage (but remember - it's a truck), Ford prices for the OEM tonneau cover and other accessories. Standard and even upgraded Sound System could use some improvement (head unit).

I was originally looking for a Ford Ranger when I noticed this vehicle on the dealer's show room floor. This vehicle absolutely turned my head and defined every versatility option I was looking for - roomy interior, a box on the back that provides the hauling/cargo capacity I needed and a powerful 4.0L V6. This Sport Trac is fantastic in my opinion...A real head turner.

Strength:

Lots of interior room, high head turning factor, useful rustproof cargo bed, and lts of tie-down points.

Weakness:

Gas mileage - I have a 4x2 and get 21mpg on long trips, but, its mostly 17-18mpg. Also, the fuel guage is nearly useless as it will swing a quarter tank in either directions within one block of driving.

After testing/revieiwng all of the "mini" crewcab trucks out there, I went with the Sport Trac. Its a great truck with all the features and versatility I was looking for.

Check out the latest Consumer Reports - the Sport Trac won the shootout between its 4 competitors (Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, & Nissan).

Overall, this truck is better than either Ford Ranger I've own, and much better than my wife's '99 Explorer XLT.

Lots of power when equiped with the 4:10 rearend.Very good looking fun to drive. After over a year of owning the Sport-Trac it's still brings a smile to your face every time you drive it.Factory hard cover.Over 60% of the vehicle is recycleable.

Weakness:

None that I have found. Even after 18,697 miles.

The Sport-Trac is the most versitle vehicle I have ever owned, driven, or used. Rides smooth but still can handle mild off roading. Lots of standard features:power windows including the back window, door locks, privacy windows,4 wheel ABS,securilock, adjust safty belts, indash and cargo area power points, berber floor mats, power mirrors, speed sensitive int.wipers just to name a few.

Strength:

Smooth Ride, Great Handling and lots of power and tons of extra features. Very useful for a verity of purposes and will adapt to almost handle almost anything you might want a mid sized quad cab or SUV to handle.

Weakness:

Currently after market parts are of a low availability but as it is a new model options should improve over the next year.

Though the Explore has received a bad wrap with the Firestone recalls I have found it to be highly reliable and fun to drive, almost anywhere I go people will stop and ask me about my Sport Trac. Though it has the limitations of being a midsize SUV/Truck the Sport Trac has a lot of power and is surprisingly roomy. I have had not complaints with the Sport Trac which is surprising being that it is in its first year of production.

Strength:

Great ride, sits high, good visibility, great acceleration, plenty of room for four adults. Great quality.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is between 16-18 mpg. No vehicle is perfect.

Awesome SUV/truck hybrid. It's my wife's little sport. She needed a trunk so we got a color matched ARE Steel-reinforced Fiberglass Bed Cover. Looks outstanding! Only one like it in area (white truck and cover). It has been totally Ford reliable. No complaints. Except mileage is a little low. Everywhere we go, people ask about it. Seems to attract young to middle-aged women and older men. Great choice for beach buggy.

Strength:

Comfortable seats, four doors, rear air conditioning/heating controls along with rear audio controls, good ride, power everything including the rear window, good looks, solid vehicle.

Weakness:

Dealer support (my dealer anyway) is lousy. Long wheel base makes it easy to high center off road and makes the turning radius pretty big.

The Sport Trac does it all, and with style! I traded a Buick Park Avenue in on it because, although a good people mover, I couldn't haul anything. Now, in the Sport trac, I have a four door sedan when I need it, a small pickup to get firewood or whatever, and a 4x4 to get through the rough stuff. It does it all with no complaints and looks good while doing it!

This is a good performer and a solid truck. You can check out owner comments/opinions/modifications/experiences/etc at www.mysporttrac.com -- a really fine website.

To compare it with other 4door SUTs in its class (like Nissan Frontier crewcab, Toyota PreRunner crewcab), this is far better in total quality. Rides very smooth for a SUT.

Strength:

Love the SUV cab with open truck bed utility.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, and overall quality of the vehicle.

Very happy with the styling and versatility. Somewhat disappointed with some quality issues. While I understand and expect some problems in any new car, some issues are just poor workmanship. One example is interior door pulls, while I understand the problem has been fixed now they were originally made of plastic with a coating that was very easily scratched, something I would think obvious in such an "high traffic" area.

Strength:

Comfort and versatility in a somewhat small package for a truck.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is a small weakness.

Excellent value for money. Comfortable and stable ride. Some ST's have had assembly problems, have not noticed any on ours. Room for 4 adults inside while hauling wet dogs or gear in bed. Even with the 4 ft. bed, not much is lost when using the cargo cage. Versatility is the strength of this vehicle.
