Strength:

*Love the nice interior with the white dash gauges, CD Changer, moon roof, leather power seats, it makes all the difference. *The usefulness of the design - Love to have the room for 5 people, and a p/u bed in the back. *Very nice look, and it sure doesn''t seem like a "girly truck" to me, just really handy *Bed Extender adds additional couple of feet *Fun Truck, rides great and handles smoothly

Weakness:

*Wind Noise (Come on this is not what you expect from a new car) *Very prone to paint chips, especially near the rear wheel well,(Yes I have the mud flaps). *Sound System is OK but the rear subwoofer, (if you can call it that), makes the plastic vibrate around it and it sounds like a blown speaker. *Small Bed is a bit of a draw back. While you know you don’t have a full size bed, it would be nice to get a sheet of drywall or plywood snugly in the back. Instead, I had to put it on the roof rack. *Engine is not as powerful as I hoped. I had a Grand Cherokee with a 4.0 6cyl engine and that was so powerful, this is a similar engine, and it really doesn''t get close to that Jeep. *Tonneau Cover is really convenient, but the stupid locks are held together with a cheap 2cent metal clip that keeps falling off, and then you put your key in, and the lock comes out with it, (stupid). *Gas Mileage - Hey, if you want better gas mileage, get a Focus or a Yugo.

I have the 2001 Sports Trac in Black and I absolutely love it. It is a fun truck with the benefits of both the SUV and the Pickup. While there are obvious draw backs, this truck gives you the best of both worlds.

I am writing to solicit comments from Explorer trac owners who have a 5-speed Manual. I''ve always driven imports and am weary of domestic manual cars. Any info will be appreciated.

Weakness:

gas mileage 17.5 city, could have a beefery engine, but 4.0 addiquit. would like to have auto shutoff headlights

I am 55, I feel like a new kid again, this is the greatest suv(combo truck)auto thats on the market, looks super, rides great, sits comfortable, and turns heads! Ive added a some xtras, pinstripes, designed sport trac decal, tail light covers, etc. We enjoy hauling groceries, fishing equipment, and just about everything that fits and it is undercover, this sport trac has combined big car ride, higher veiwing, comfort, seating for 5, hauling, towing, and much more, I and my wife LOVE IT!

Strength:

Engine power, smoothness, interior room, and cargo bed versatility comfortable seating

Weakness:

Not a good looking vehicle, fuel economy is bad.... 15 mpg. The Goodyear tires are a wet traction nightmare

Not a good looking truck but versatile. The truck handles well and accelerates well. This is a comfortable truck to sit in which is needed for gridlocked Central Florida roads

Strength:

Snappy 4.0 w/quick shifting transmission Comfortable seats and interior space Great looking interior Sporty looking exterior

Weakness:

Horrid Goodyear tires (Go back to Firestone and teach people how to check their dang tire pressure!) Messy oil change

So far it''s a great solution to my truck needs. I had a 1993 Ford F-150 for years. 5.8L and all the XLT options. Great power etc. Too big though for parking in some places. Bought a ''99 Ranger Supercab XLT. Neat little truck, great gas milage. No get up and go (4 banger/5 speed). I looked at the new Explorers, just too dang expensive. That and I like having an open bed to throw in dirty stuff that I don''t want on the carpet but doesn''t require a large area bed. The Sport Trac is fantastic. Room on the interior(I''m 6''1"). Take along normal human size friends in the back and still have my pickup. Well thought out interior design. Looks good and functions just like it should. Very utilitarian. Snappy little 4.0 gets up and goes. Neat shifting transmission. It''s fun to wind up! Rides better than my bosses new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Would ride better if it didn''t have on those horrible Goodyear Wrangler''s. I''m putting on Firestone Firehawks as soon as I can. These tires suck! Vibration and howl between 40-50 mph. I had 33" Firestone Firehawk RMT''s (mud tire) on my ''93 that didn''t howl and vibrate this much! I haven''t towed anything yet. I''m planning on using to tow around my show car. We''ll see I guess.

Strength:

love!!!!!!everything except the tires. And fuel. Will recommend highly if tires get replaced.

Weakness:

Fuel economy, which I expected. Very bad tires (generals grabbers) are so bad. Born and raised in Michigan this the first automobile I have been afraid to drive in the winter. So far no response from dealer to replace tires with something descent. We will battle over this. You would think after the firestone problems Ford would have been a little more selective with there tire selection. Does anyone but us have these tires? I have not seen them on any other sports trac but mine.

I live in a GM town. Not many of these sport trak here. We get lots of looks lots of questions. Lots of COOOOOL!!! I like seeing the reaction of people behind me when I put the rear window down. Lots of smiles. No mechanical problems. No leaks. Everything works great(except tires)

Strength:

Ease of turning and driving. Great comfort. Good pick up with the V 6.

Weakness:

Can''t think of any right now.

When these trucks first came out, I fell in love with the styling, comfort factor and the fact it comfortably would seat passengers while maintaining pick-up capability. We bought a pre-owned and the price was great for the amount of vehicle we purchased. We also got an extended warranty. Thought I could not afford this truck new (fully loaded) but this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Never had any trouble with the Ford Rangers I have owned, but this is definitely a great step up. I love how easy it is to ride. Very smooth and comfortable. The V-6 has great pick up. Easy manueverability. Very quiet. Very pretty vehicle and very practical. I like the back window feature alot. Love the stereo. So far.....I''m in love with my truck!!

Strength:

Good looking, especially with all the bells and whistles that I added to the exterior.

Weakness:

Wish it was a V8, but I hear that it''s coming.

This is a real cutie of a truck/suv. The guys make fun of the short bed, but I tell them, "it''s a girls truck, what do ya expect". I love it. However, the rear doors had a leak problem, which the dealership fixed in a short time. I like the sunroof, and the rear auto window is cool (reminds me of the old mercury''s).
